Tangent Tony!🔥🔥🔥

Arian Abdolahy

What, he's back?! Already? On the first episode? Lmao, Tony 100!

Walt D

🤣🤣🤣

AntonJ0™

We need to get Tony on Ping Pong the animation

SKAOG

LET'S GOOOO

Tp2222

from what you said in the outro you're gonna love this show man - the show is about sports but more than that it's about how to approach life and how sports is often just a microcosm of all these universal ideas about personal growth

SKAOG

All i'll say is that Yuki Hayashi, the main composer of Haikyuu, is a GOAT of anime OSTs. He's probably best known for making the OST of My Hero Academia, a very popular Shounen anime Edit: completely forgot, but he's also composed the OST for Death Parade, another anime you've watched

Nuoflan

She said that hahahah

SKAOG

I'd describe his music as Rock + Orchestral, because of the usge of Guitars and String instruments (and the piano). And they're usually uplifting/get you hyped.

PlatypusPrince

It’s so interesting seeing the first episode again. I think you’ll love how they slowly build up the complexity of the game as each characters skill level grows higher and higher and they start learning more and more techniques and go through significant character growth. Plus the OST is phenomenal Yuki Hayashi is amazing at composing tracks that get you hype as fuck.

Sk dragon

Sports anime are so good

BlakStatik23

One thing the show hammers in is that no, you’re very right in comparing Hinata to the shittiest person in the band lol. This kid just finds hitting the ball fun and he’s athletically gifted in speed and jumping. He’s a ball of sunshine tho but I think you’ll like him.

SKAOG

the issue is that in the last 3 years, his school didn't have a male volleyball team, and he's was the sole member, so he's not had any expeirence and only managed to get his friends fromt he scooer and basketball club to help him. In this match, his teammates barely know the rules, but are there to help him qualify to play a match so he's basically been alone in this journey and hasn't had any of the assistance and practice in other schools with actual teams, which is why Kageyama asked what has he been doing those years not liiving up to Hinata's potential, as he probably viewed it as Hinata having wasted his time.

SKAOG

great to see that you dig it so far. the main worry was that one can like sports, but still find an anime around sports ot be boring, but Haikyu does an excellent job in developing the characters and their personalities. the main test will come when you have to sit through multi-esppidic matches. its espiclally in haikyu that i believe watching epsiodes in batches shows its value because a match can span multiple episodes. You could maybe watch the 2 episodes together and then release them on separate days, rather than watch them separately

SKAOG

GOATed composer. If he ever decides to watch MHA, he'll get plenty more of them.

Jet Man

12:48 - "If you can dodge a ball, you can dodge a wrench."

Sk dragon

Dodge duck dip dive and dodge

Lixien

Yeah, you can receive the ball with any part of your body! He didn't even have a team in his three years of middle school until now. So yeah he didnt have any proper training with a coach.

Alanin_8💜

Lesgoooo!!! The cream of the crop when it comes to sports anime and of course my favorite composer Yuki Hayashi did all the ost for Haikyuu as well

Logan H

You'll love any sport anime ? Ok then look at "Keijo!!!!" 😏

Jet Man

😂 If that ever happens, it would have to be Tier 3.

Red Menace

omg yes, he needs to watch it so much LOL

Red Menace

best tony by far LOl

Red Menace

lose with style had me rollin

P_ateric

Absolutely devious. I’m in.

Red Menace

to the sports thing i will say that liking something adjacent to sports doesn't necessarily automatically mean you like that sport, or all sports, that being said i am glad that you do, this will be a fun ride

Red Menace

LMAO!! there are "golfing" anime, but glad to know what to avoid, what other sports you don't like? because if you like this then maybe one day baby steps will be in a poll hopefully(but that one is tennis)

Ryo

Alright let's goooo! Was a bit nervous about the main character coming off as annoying since he is loud and kinda shrill

drumrolltonyreacts

The sport does not matter. Only thing that matters is if they wrote a good story or not

CK C

Gonna be inspired to play volleyball 😂😂😂

Drow1270

I don't mind Haikyu's openings but I just feel they are too generic, it's something I might be able to hear on some other anime, it's just your decent standard piece of anime opening music.

Drow1270

Yeah though that's like the only good thing about Boku no hero after season 3 lol, he would either drop it or not care, the amount of plot holes and bad writing after season 3 ended was just too many to bare.

Brayan Yepiz

we getting into sports? that's pleasantly unexpected

Red Menace

then i think you would love baby steps, most sports anime have the same formula, baby steps is allitle different in that it graduates from the beg of being like "high school" to professional play, althought its in licensing hell, still, hope itll be on the polls one of these times

Arian Abdolahy

It was so touching for me to start to rewatch it again with you and oh, the thing you mentioned at the end, like about the athletic approach being applicable to learning an instrument... That's why I love realistic animes, cause we don't see abstract development, power up's without a system, we see real life development and that makes it applicable to real life too, not just learning an instrument but anything... overcoming trauma for example. And sure, you can watch real life sports but when do you get to have an insight into the relationships that form in this setting and the interplay of all the different personalities? There was so much for me to take away from this, so I'm super excited for you to experience it as well and comment on it!

K

TONY! DON’T DO THIS to my heart! I almost fainted! Didn’t know ur reacting to Haikyuu!!

TheGoblerTrainsMovinIn

"I will like any anime about any sport, even something ridiculous" alright tony time to watch Keijo, a sports anime about women trying to knock each other into the water below but are only allowed to use their tits and ass to attack each other lmao

Unbeknownst Man

With this on rotation, Slam Dunk and Ping Pong: The Animation need to be pushed next!

Jet Man

So... no Birdie Wing? Golf may be boring as sin, but I've heard good things about that one, probably because while Golf is the main focus, it has other elements to make it spicy.

Red Menace

@jetman LOL calling birdie wing a golf anime, while not technically wrong, is like saying Keijo is a wrestling anime LMAO

K

I don’t remember seeing it 🥹 but glad it won!

drumrolltonyreacts

For some reason it's really only been🟨from Demon Slayer and the insufferable welp from ReZero that I wanted to suffocate 👀😂

SKAOG

Some are standard j rock, some one of the bands is unique and great

FullHeart

You've seen some club based anime before but not from a sports perspective, so note for this show is that japan treats school sports a different than we do in america, obv. The sports are clubs rather than official teams attached to the school per se, and they aren't attached to local leagues the way say a high school here would be. The only matches you get are if your club manager is able to arrange them. Some sport clubs can go all year doing zero matches, and maybe go to tournament like Shoyo did if they meet minimum reqs, only to lose their first and last match of the year. It's brutal. Also because it's a club rather than a team, sometimes there will be schools known for a particular sport or activity and they'll have so many people join a club that most of them cant even be on the "team" portion. Like the King's team in this episode where it was a powerhouse school so they had the first years who weren't even on the bench and were just running water.
