"I'm having a hard time with all these a names" right into Gaushun bringing up the 6th side character involved that we don't hear the name of often was some amazing comedic timing hahahahha

My theory of what's going-on as an anime only viewer: Shishou, the father of the runaway concubine and the governor of the northern part of the country is red-green colorblind (as Lakan confirmed in a previous episode). Based on the Doors episode I assume he must have some claim to the throne from the maternal side and all the grain and iron is for soldiers and machines of war to launch a full-scale civil war. Also, the sabotaged metal pillar incident from Season 1 and the Feifa incident from this season seem to be orchestrated by him to kill the Emperor's younger brother, Jinshi. Loulan, the runaway concubine; Suiren & Shisui, Maomao's kidnappers; and this mysterious baby are all related in someway but it's not 100% clear yet.

I think you might be misinterpreting the scene at the end there based off of your comments. Lahan basically shows Jinshi that based on the ledgers there's a large amount of resources missing, and is asking Jinshi if there's some secret government project going on (in a roundabout way), since Jinshi would know. Since there isn't a government project that points towards some foul play happening by some third party, and that's what Lahan is offering to look into. I don't think you're supposed to be thinking that there's some conspiracy by the imperial government there, but that there's some mystery behind where the missing resources and Lahan is going to try and track that down.

Oh yea. Lol I definitely did. Thx for the info. I'm still a bit I'm clouds but I'm sure it will get more clear

This week there will be no episode, but if next week you change the reaction day to friday, you will be able to react uninterruptedly and you will be up to date with the anime broadcasting.

When they had like 3 different stories in the first half of this season about people pretending to be someone else I had a feeling this was gonna be the case for Concubine Loulan considering they kept mentioning how many servants she had and how they constantly change looks. Great reveal it was very satisfying to see Jinshi go off like that!

Yeah, that all sounds likely to me. Personally, I'm predicting that Suiren is that mysterious baby, and that Shisui is actually Loulan. It would explain why they have to suddenly do a switch, since she is gone somewhere with Maomao. Plus, she already looks pretty similar to Loulan anyways, and it would explain why Shisui has a much better education than the average servant girl, something Maomao noticed earlier this season.

This episode, Jinshi also seemed to draw a connection between them, showing the visual with Suiren and Shisui, and then Jinshi immediately heading to the Garnet Pavillion. It all seems to suggest this, but maybe this is actually a red herring?

FTN Chicken

Yeah, I think I agree in the Suiren prediction. But not sure about Shisui, but the only reason is because I don’t understand what was her goal in the inner palace. Like, Suiren was actively orchestrating Jinshi’s pillar accident. But it seems like Shisui has just been goofing off in her downtime between concubine duties?

Kinda late but wanted to help with some of the connections Jinshi just made. If you remember in the "A ghost story" episode, the women that made that tradition of telling ghost stories had died the year before. She was one of the girls that had to stay in the palace because of her "relationship" with the past emperor. BUT! Jinshi is connecting her to a daughter she had. In the episode "the late emperor" the current emperors mother is talking about how she became the empress (she got pregnant with a boy) but she mentions that someone had a daughter claiming it was the emperor's, but it wasn't (she was having an affair with the doctor, he was the only man that didnt need to be castrated to be in the rear palace. Until that incident. Then they changed that rule) the baby and the doctor were exiled but she had to stay. We previously didn't know they were the same person until this episode. And Jinshi suspects Suirei to be the daughter (the one that kidnapped Maomao. She was also the one that "killed" herself and came back to life). Jinshi also remembers that Ghost story women (named Taihou) was a court lady for a women (not currently named) that would be married off to Shishou (the guy that made "the hunt" event) 🐸and eventually have a daughter. That daughter would become Concubine Loulan ( the Concubine that escaped) that's why he went to question her, but instead found she had escaped. Hope all that made sense 😅😅

holy fuck i never noticed he literally scares the shit out of her

I noticed something on my rewatch, couldn't they just follow the tunnel where suirei escaped, get out and ask if anyone has seen maomao and in what direction they went, at least they'd get some clues

I'm still curious about whose children Jinshi is. I thought when Ah Duo concubine left the rear palace in S1, it was implied that Jinshi is Ah Duo's child, she somehow swapped him with the last emperor's child who died at birth. So he would be the current emperor's son instead of hos brother? Im so confused
