I went to Pompeii in high school! I saw the remains of people killed by the pyroclastic flow, i saw the stone dicks, and i even saw the dog mosaic! It's a truly incredible place, and just as you say, incredibly tragic. The pyroclastic flow captured their forms so accurately, you can tell how scared they were just by their poses. It really makes you feel connected to the past, and makes the people who lived in that time feel much more real
