Nice, good to see the resumption of Haikyuu after your holiday! (cant wait for JoJo's)

SKAOG

0:35 an alt translation is that "it's fine", which is a pretty common phrase in anime. You've probably heard other variations of the way she said it, just not hers until now.

SKAOG

1:42 damn, i had no idea that they were that expensive in your area. I've never really thought of the cost of transportation in my club, and even for field trips in general until now

SKAOG

7:00 haha, ended up being more like 30 seconds, but i definitely agree with the message as well. i think it's disrepectful to willingly involve yourself in something, but not give it your all (or at least (try to) do it to a high standard).

SKAOG

14:23 the OST is "Above", it's a new track from S2. Definitely one of the hype OSTs i think of when i think of Haikyuu music. It's co-composed by both Yuki Hayashi and Asami Tachibana Side Note: Google's humming feature in their mobile search app came in clutch, just hummed the melody for 8 seconds and it gave me the right track, unlike Shazam which never gets it right. I guess i'll use this first from now on instead of combing through the individual tracks in the playlist on YouTube

SKAOG

18:43 Same. It was mandatory to make notes in my school from reading the textbook for the upcoming topic within the subject, and it had to be ready before the lesson. But i would end up just nearly replicating the textbook 1:1 as everything felt important to me, and would just add bit which i felt were missing. But i guess writing everything out helped me understand it over just reading, and i got the highest possible grades for all my subjects, so it worked out in the end anyway. But unfortunately, my note taking skills aren't great, which isn't great at university and work, but luckily there's not too much note taking to do at work, and LLMs are clutch during meetings to generate meeting notes and action items

20:11 Has Tony done any Shoujo anime yet? (i'm thinking of romance ones based on the context of the scene)

whoYoda

The peak is back, LETSGOOO

Lixien

If we're talking about "shoujo" which means that its target demographic is young women, not really. (Sailor Moon for example) If we're talking romance, Kaguya-sama and Your Lie In April comes to mind I guess. Or the om Ne episode of Madoka he watched (which is more of a seinen show disguised as a shoujo lol)

Sprucefer

No he hasn't watched any shoujo anime yet. He did watch Kids on the Slope which is a josei, so that's the closest.

SimplySora

The whole soundtrack is on Spotify as well, I listen to it often lol

Lucipurr

Both shoujo and josei mean the same thing (shoujo -teen girl, josei - adult female) literally. As a genre it stands for shows that more female (adults) audiences might relate to/ gravitate to. I think sound euphonim might be a shoujo genre , cause we see the story through the main girls perspective and most of the cast are girls.

SKAOG

@Tony yeah, it's the "Google" app on mobile (not Chrome). You need to click on the Microphone button, which will then open up a new page with a button at the bottom with text that says " Search for a song". And i'm always impreed by its accuracy, i just played out loud some audio of a half a second snippet of some Naruto OST that was a reel that i was watching, and it guessed it instantly.

SKAOG

@Lixien By Shoujo, i meant a series that has a primarily female MC with the male love interest(s) playing a secondary role (so i wasn't thinking of Kaguya as one, because to me Kaguya and Miyuki have equal importance with both of their perpectives being covered, and it was primarily a comedy series for me when i got into it). I was thinking more long the line of Kamisama Hajimemashita, or Ao Haru Ride. And to me, i dont think YLIA fulfils what i am thinking of, since its romance, but the guy is the MC and is more about his perpective. Funnily enough now that i think about it, Apothecary Diaries fulfills the vibe i was thinking of, so he's indeed watching one, but it seems that it's technically classed as a Seinen anime

SKAOG

@Tony and to add on, Shounen and Seinen are along the same lines of clasification, with Josei being the adult counter part of Seinen, and Shoujo being the teen counterpart of Shounen. But don't take them as a hard and fast category, because some Shounen can be very mature even if they're not classed as one, eg AOT, and HxH. So you can just tackle it on an anime by anime basis.

Sprucefer

In the context of Japanese manga and anime, "shounen," "shoujo," "seinen," and "josei" refer to demographics, not genres. Shounen manga is aimed at young boys, shoujo at young girls, seinen at adult men, and josei at adult women. These designations primarily indicate the target audience for the publications (manga magazines or online platforms) rather than the specific content of the stories.

Fuji Nami

Haikyu gives me the most joy on this line up

SKAOG

@Sprucefer yup, which is why the categorisation can mislead people's expectations of what they might get into, just because it's officially targeted at x age group and gender or is present in x magazine doen't neccesarily mean that its content is appropriate for said audience, or matches the maturity of said audience, or is similar to the majority of series in the genre

Ethan Sicle

This show does such a good job with little character stories that are just shoved into a 1-2 episode span, they don't feel over done or just thrown in to have something there to say there is a backstory

Isaac Noël

lmao "Fuckin' Patrick" sounds like the name of a famous brawler down at the local Irish pub XD
