Some nice variety in the music this EPWe finally got an age indicator with the brick cell phone, so obviously had to talk about it at the end of the episode. All my thoughts are there

First off, your thoughts at the end are completely fair and I felt the same way my first watch of this, not trying to dispute them or say it isn't weird, because it is weird. All I will say is that this is not Mushoku Tensei, they do not glorify, justify or reward this idea in the narrative. Its used as a piece for the larger themes, and is handled well by the end of the series. I cannot stomach mushoku tensei for this very reason, but this story is in my top 10. I don't think how its portrayed moving forward will put you off too much, and it doesn't get to be too much at any point imo, but I would get it if you wanted to stop anyways.

Shucks

it is also far from the only subject we follow

Watching this for the first time, I am curious as to what might happen if and when other vampires get introduced to the story. Castlevania showed us that vampires can be both sane and insane. Logical and illogical. So far, we have a basis of one on what vampires are like in this world.

Star

Valid opinions. It is weird, but I feel like it as shucks said, it’s used for the larger theme of the show which is vampires. The focus on the ‘love’ fades after a bit.

What’s everyone’s thoughts on Twilight?

drumrolltonyreacts

Right, but what is stopping the original creation process of having main dude be grown and just introverted and the vampire theme is the same? You kinda have to do outta your way ti make him 14 and her 40 some.

Star

Absolutely correct, it’s weird, middle school is too much

There is plenty of point to both of their ages later on in all fairness, but its certainly true that this was a deliberate decision and the story could have been structured differently. Nazuna acts like a teenager anyway. Its kind of like that scene in makeine where the sister talks about the mechanics of the girls wearing less clothes and stuff for their powers. someone conciously made it that way and made that in-world rule. But like I said, its portrayal doesn't bother me as much by the end, even if it made for questionable moments. When I say the themes, I don't mean literal vampires, but we'll cross that bridge when we get to it in like season 2.

Big yap incoming this is one of my favorite manga/anime (age gap is weird but bear with me) It’s because they are published in teen mags so they use those ages even if characters are written “older” alot of mangaka write stories intended for older characters but because they are in teen mags they age them down for the reading audience. age gap is big but every vampire story is the same even in western media just look at twilight and no one second guesses that really Also the whole manga is based on the ED song lyrics, the author wrote it based on the creepy nuts song then asked to name the story after it leading to creepy nuts doing music for the anime and doing multiple guest acting roles and the lyrics are literally “12 o’lcock to 2 o’clock I mean first time I rode you was 14” Which is Ko’s age The theme is discovering love even at a young age just instead of your stereotypical school anime romance it’s vampires

Red Menace

thats kinda why i like vampires over other things like zombies and whatnot, because you can have 5d chess big head vampires, and feral vampires, and shamblers, and everything between and beyond, and because of the age thing, you can have it from all different societies and times periods which add extra layers.
