I'm not sure if there is an overall meaning of the dance but it's Sugimoto reenacting stuff that's happened in the show like the chittap and the harikari show.

One of my absolute favourite things about this show is that none of the soldiers in the 7th fuck around when something unexpected happens. In lesser shows, there'd be a "*GASP* What are YOU doing here?!" moment, but these guys are actual psychos, so they skip the nonsense and get straight to the killin

I read somewhere that the ending was storyboarded by the mangaka, and it includes many references to events from the story. Here's a list of references i took from some japanese commenter from the youtube video, see if you can spot some of them sugimoto panning for gold sugimoto using his rifle to stab the bears heart in chapter 1/episode 1 Chitatap Inside the belly of a deer, Sugimoto cries over dried persimmons Otter stew ;) Let's sumo wrestle!! Sugimoto gives Nopperabo a good talking-to Sugimoto gets shot in the fuckin head, lives STENKA Sugimoto's harakiri fake-out dance Sugimoto sucks the poison out of Ogata's eyeball

This is the first episode that I wasn't rewatching but was actually my first time seeing. I stopped when your watch began, to get a refresh before watching anymore of the new season since it had been years since I'd seen the beginning. What a journey it's been! But also goddamn this was a 10/10 episode. So much happened. Super cathartic that Jack the Ripper got ripped himself. All the Ogata stuff is super interesting. Also don't know if you caught, but Lieutenant Tsurumi didn't just suck on Usami's finger, he bit of the end of his pinky and swallowed it. Pretty sure that's what he meant when he said from now Usami will live on within him. I think a lot of that interaction was also a call back to when we see Usami call out Tsurumi for calling Tsukishima a "comrade in arms" in front all the other soldiers to win their hearts, saying he actually genuinely wishes for Tsurumi to say the same thing to him. So we see him say it as Usami is dying, and then it pans out to the soldiers behind him that he's putting on a show for. Then he still goes the extra mile for Usami with the finger eating "you're part of me now" because they're both unhinged AF.
