I think this is one of my favorite episodes! Just epic on all levels and really showcases the prowess of the online gamer known as Sunraku... lmao #hellyeah

I really liked the discussions in this one

If you're interested in gameplay like Nephilim Hollow check out Armored Core, made by the same guys as Elden Ring

cgi is just another style of anime. it can be done well and badly. folks make fun of it because the bad stuff looks absolutely hilarious. check out EX-ARM for a primary example of how not to do 3d anime

The use of 2D and 3D in this episode was a chef's kiss. The reason most people don't like CGI/3D isn't because it reduces the minimum entry skill of the artist (like autotune), it's because for the longest time the way it's been used is horrendous. It has rarely been applied well. You can tell apart bad CG when you feel the objects as being "wobbly" or "floaty". Good CG is great, bad CG is horrible and there is no in-between. My favorite "bad" CG anime is Knights of Sidonia. It's about mechs in space fighting these brain looking aliens.

What I meant to say is that autotune is a way to make someone with lower skills appear to have high skills. It's a skill "booster" developed to make something bad, seem good. CG is a skill in and of itself. It's bad because people haven't matured that skill.

Kevin Baker

If you liked this you'll like Gundam Thunderbolt or Gundam Hathaway fights. That's as much a recommendation for this episode and the previous.

Sk dragon

girls band cry was cgi but it wasn't really action like this here. the cgi here makes sense because it's a different game and it's done decently, but i didn't like the scorpions cgi a few episodes back with sunraku being 2d and scorpions 3d just ain't it for me

Sk dragon

the main problem for me is the immersion break, but cgi is getting alot better (medalist for an example)

Jet Man

Is Dorohedoro not something you consider to be a CGI anime? 🤔 At least, most of the characters seem CGI. Maybe because the art style is gritty its not as noticeable.
