With studio ghibli films the dubs are top tier in voice direction

I prefer original language (meaning Japanese/sub). Recording of voice is usually supervised under the directors and sometimes even the authors; makes it the best version made with the ''original'' intention in mind. Dubs(english) could be good, but it's not made the same way. (Other than works where the directors specifically recorded ''English/dubs'' as original language.)

I do think the dub is pretty good - they have some big names (for the time) dubbing for the main cast. But that said, some might find suddenly hearing billy bob thorntons voice in an anime distracting.

The Ghibli dubs are all great but I still prefer the original Japanese for all of them, except Howl’s Moving Castle

the english dub for mononokee is as good as english dubbing can get. The JP voice acting is still better

Red Menace

They have A list talent for this dub, but the purists are going to win the vote ,personally I've heard it both ways, and while both are good, I think the dub is better for a more relaxed watch because you can focus on the visual Nd everything else more

Take these comments as a lesson on how much of a vocal minority dub watchers are.

As others have said sub, but I will vouch even as someone who always prefers subs, the dubs on Ghibli movies are pretty much always high budget voice talent. Disney is actually who pushed to release them in the US and were able to get pretty big names for the cast. At a time when dubs had a pretty poor reputation, Ghibli film dubs were in a class of their own and basically the best you could possibly hope for in a dub
