It's not a spoiler the way Hisoka changed the fortune. He used Texture Surprise which allows him to change the outward appearance of anything to anything. (Like his spider tattoo in his back) As how he did it in like 2 seconds... he's just built different, there's no explanation lol. He's just insane.

Hisoka is a transmuter and one of his abilities is he can transmute his aura over the surface of an object to change it's appearance. He did this during the heavens arena fight during kastro. The cloth wrapped around his reattached arm and then was made to look like his skin so that you wouldn't be able to see where it was reattached. It was later fully attached by the other girl with nen stitches. Fyi his other ability is that his nen can have the qualities of both rubber and gum. Texture surprise can change the appearance and bungee gum is the more offensive technique.

The thing about Hisoka’s power is that in it’s base, the abilities aren’t even all that crazy. What this episode reveals is why he’s such a high level fighter is his insane amount of creativity. Sure his abilities are versatile but how do you even think of using them in the ways he does? That’s just an innate thing about him that he must’ve already had since he was young so the ability compliments that creativeness. It’s absolutely insane to think of an entirely nonexistent situation like that, trying to get the outcome that makes the Spiders stay in the city and allows him to remain secretive with things while still doing it in a way that forces the group to believe you. Now if Pakunoda had scanned him it would’ve been gg ez lmao but he more than likely wouldn’t let that just happen anyways.

One thing to keep in mind about nen is that there is like a base level of power level. Sure someone can train their technique, but a lot of that comes from nen capacity and technique usage. Chain jail which is his middle finger is way way too strong because it turns off the other person's nen and thus a rule had to be set for that being it only works on the troupe. His other abilities he can use as well because when his eyes turn red he becomes a specialist which is like a different type of power boost. Experienced nen practitioners would probably be able to know this as well since they would know about what you can give and take with nen. This is why assassin gramps was able to deduce that the phantom troupe leader has to go through 4-5 conditions to steal an ability. Stealing an ability is really strong and thus these conditions make it harder for additional reward. Nen sort of works like a scale in that case. You want more power? Give up something or restrict yourself.

Just think back to Heaven's Arena when Hisoka lost his arms. He is basically manipulating the paper the same way. Also, don't forget that Hisoka has all of the information of both sides. He knows how Special K's abilities work from seeing and deduction. Hisoka is on par with the boss on that. So making the paper say that a suspected conjurer like special K, put a curse on Hisoka, is believable. But props to Hisoka for being able to freestyle that on the fly and use his nen ability to print it. It gives foreshadow to the Joker like genius that Hisoka will show throughout the show to any given side.

Yeah Hisoka used the same power to fake his severed arms healing in his Sky Arena battle with the yellow cape dude. The pink rubber-like nen is his first ability. This is his second ability where he could apply nen on things to mimic a look/texture he desires. What’s impressive is that he came up with a fake poem to manipulate the trope leader in such a short time.

This episode and the last one is why Hisoka is one of the best characters in the show. He sees that they’re about to leave and jumps in to “helpfully” suggest that they read everyone’s fortunes knowing that if the ability is accurate it will know about his betrayal. Then using his Texture Surprise he alters the contents of the poem so that his betrayal wasn’t pre-planned and make it seem like if they leave that the prophecy will come true. He also vaguely reveals Kurapika’s abilities so that they don’t question why he isn’t saying anything, and implies that he gave away the majority of their abilites. And what’s even better is how even while Hisoka is able to quickly come up with a poem that matches the other ones in the prophecies in order to manipulate the situation to keep the Spider in the city, but it’s not a perfect mimic. It’s really close, but there are minute differences, in terms of the type of language used and sentence structure within the poem that make it not perfectly match the other ones. If someone who was well versed in poetry was in the troupe they would’ve been able to figure out Hisoka was lying and making it up, given that they likely know about his Texture Surprise ability, but because no one there is all of them are able to be tricked

You can think of the nen system, when crazy abilities show up like the chain jail of special K, as a give and take system. You exchange disadvantages in exchange for power/accurracy or whatever you need. Think of like Special K using his chains, he is (without his red eyes on) a conjurer, so he can conjure objects. He conjured chains. For the chains to have high destructive power, he would need to be able to use nen like an enhancer (Gon, Uvogin) uses. For him to be able to set up a rule using that little sword inside people's heart, he would need to use a manipulator nen, where he can manipulate the conditions of it, while maintaining the chain real (by using conjurer's abilities). When he is with his red eyes, the quality of his nen changes and he becomes an specialist. His power as a specialist is to be able to use all of the different groups of nen with 100% efficacy, like he was innate to those groups. It would require an enormous ridiculous ammount of nen for him to be able to use something like chain jail without restrictions. Imagine, an ability that causes you to not be able to use nen, forces you into zetsu state. Since he is not this monster that can conjurer an ammount of nen equivalent of, I don't know, 100 people, he needed to set up strick disadvantages/restrictions to him so he could use such a powerful ability. I imagine that he can just "dispell" this rule he put upon himself, but at the same time his chain jail would not work anymore. You remember the Zoldycks (Killua's family) fighting against Chrollo (Spider's boss) ? Zeno, the older fellow said that for Chrollo to have the ability to steal someone else's abilities, he would have to meet 4 to 5 criteria, maybe even in order. So this is his restrictions he has to met so he is able to have such a broken ability that is stealing someone elses powers for himself. Thats why nen is the most awesome power system.

Bunk

Furthermore, Hisoka could have changed his fortune to completely cover up his betrayal. He didn’t and so the troupe suspects him, but not the fortune itself. They never question the fortune or think about his texture ability because if he changed it why would he leave in the part of his betrayal. Hisoka tells half truths that draw attention away from the bigger con. He’s a magician using misdirection.
