Venezuela's Quake Update, Sun Jul 5 (Patreon)
Content
Hello everyone, been a while. I'm sorry for the silence, I have been busy cleaning my apartment, restocking groceries and helping the neighbors. Anyway, I am okay, we are safe and sound. A state sanctioned engineer and a geologist came to our building and said that despite the damage the building took it's all cosmetic (cosmetic meaning it's inconsequential to the actual structure such as columns and beams which are the skeleton of the building and they were all untouched) and it is completely habitable.
Even then I don't feel safe being here. I will probably end up moving out, eventually. I am even afraid to walk near a tall building. Funny how until you experience something like this you never stop to consider the dangers, but then again everything can and will kill you. I imagine someone who survives a bad car crash will be afraid of cars from then on. Ignorance is bliss and all that.
I even feel silly for still being afraid even after the geologist said that chances of another quake of this magnitude are less than 6%, or the expected 50-60 year threshold as it always has been (last quake hit in '67), even privileged or ungrateful given I am unscathed compared to people who were left on the streets or are still buried under rubble.
I just rearmed my pc and everything last night. Everything works as it should, surprisingly, considering my case fell on the screen tablet and it doesn't have even a scratch on it. I also started uploading my critical files to a cloud so I won't stress over the drives if I have to run again. I still don't feel like drawing though, my head is completely blank and I even feel like it's wrong to worry about that even though it is my job. Anyway, I will get to it soon, please bear with me a little longer.
Unless something else happens, this will be the last update regarding the quake. Thank you all so much to everyone who donated, continues to do so, and also the ones who reached out to give me moral support. It means the world to me and I will never forget that. I owe you a debt I will never be able to truly repay.
