The assassin is a what you would call a Combustion Bender. They generate explosions from the eye on their head.

Aside from the series finale, the next episode is my favorite in the whole series. Speaking of the series finale I would like you guys to consider watching it all at once, it’s a 4 part finale and I realize you may not want to put all 4 parts out on Patreon at once and I understand that (although it would be awesome) but please please set aside the time to watch all 4 parts together because they are meant to be 1 giant movie like episode and your experience with the finale will be way better if you consume it as such.

Mai isn't evil, you can say that she doesn't care enough to stand up against Azula. But there are always lines she wouldn't cross. Like that time in the drill episode, Mai didn't want to go down into the sludge because it was gross (but Ty Lee did). She gave up chasing Aang. And that time back in Ba Sing Se, Mai let the Team Avatar took Bosco the bear. And Mai gave Azula the "look" when Azula disturbed Mai's and Zuko's evening together.
