Hell yeaaaaaah! THIS was my childhood. I adore these movies. You'd be hard-pressed to find a more perfect source-to-screen adaptation. Even the stuff they did leave out, like Tom Bombadill, was honestly not important and a wise decision to cut it. The scenery is gorgeous, the VFX are stunning, especially for the time (this came out the same year as HP 1 I believe). And the actors are so, so well cast. It's an all around perfect trilogy and I can't wait to see y'all watch the rest!

i knew you guys would have issues with pippin and merry when you watched this but i promise they get a lot more tolerable dfgtdh... pip is one of my favourite characters in the film even if he is painful to watch in this movie. enjoyed the reaction though, super happy to be watching this with you, it's one of my all time favourite film franchises!

โ€œThree Rings for the Elven-kings under the sky, Seven for the Dwarf-lords in their halls of stone, Nine for Mortal Men, doomed to die, One for the Dark Lord on his dark throne In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie. One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them, One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them. In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie.โ€

YEEEEES I've been waiting for this!! Tnak you!

Thank you so much! I love Lord of the rings! Please especially for the return of the king, watch the extended Edition, it is absolutely worth it. ๐Ÿ˜Š Can't wait now for your reacting to the two Towers

About the Magic .. saruman and Gandalf are called wizzards by the people of middle earth nur in truth they are in our thinking angel Like beings

To answer your question about the 3 elven rings, I don't think Sauron had a direct role in making the elven rings, or if Sauron did have any influence on them the elves were able to resist it. Also, the director Peter Jackson makes a cameo at 1:01:39. He's they guy eating the carrot. The white city Minas Tirith that Boromir kept talking about is shown briefly for a second at 35:59 and then a close up shot a few seconds later when Gandalf is looking for answers. Finally, Jane was right, Tolkien was the book writer. The hobbit was written first in 1937, and the Lord of the Rings was written from 1937 to 1949.

BeastialMoon

You're exactly right about the elven rings - the only ring Sauron made was his, the others were all made by a vastly different but just as divinely being. He tainted the rings of Men, holding them under his thrall.

Oooooo yes Pip's character development is ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿ‘Œ

Don't write off Merry & Pippin so early haha, they are not goofs believe me, their character development is extraordinary

I am so thrilled you guys are reacting to this series. I love the movies, but it's so much more enjoyable watching them with you. Ohh, this is an extended cut. There's a lot of additional footage added to this that wasn't in the theatrical release. The very beginning, with the woman talking about Gollum, that was in all the cuts, including the theatrical release. But the part right after where Bilbo was talking about Hobbits and Bag End,. before Galdalf showed up to see Frodo, that was additional stuff, which is why Jane wouldn't have remembered seeing it. The added stuff is great, especially for people who are unfamiliar with the books, because it explains a lot of things that weren't explained in the theatrical version, things that, in being left out, sometimes would make the movies hard to follow. The similarities between Harry Potter and these movies, especially when it comes to the Horcruxes, are not a coincidence. If you pay attention to a lot of fantasy, all fantasy borrows from Lord of the Rings, and HP is no exception. Yes, Rowling was heavily inspired by LotR. The Horcrux had the same affect on Ron in Harry Potter as the One Ring had on Frodo, and anyone else who held it. I like the way Jay put it, that the One Ring is a Horcrux. I just love how into this movie you guys were. Just a joy to watch.

Merry and pippin start out a bit goofy, especially Pippin, but they have huge character development

There is not as much Green Screen as you think. the crew went to New Zealand about a decade before filming and actually built most of the shire and most of the castles and things you see in this movie.

FYI the actor who is plays Gimli ( the short little dwarve ) who is actually one of the tallest actors in the movies.
