Leg weaves are a simple trick I often use in disc, but they can also be a great warmup before a session and just a fun trick to do with your dog. Here I use a lure to train them, with heavy focus on where the reinforcer is fed so that it sets the dog up for the next rep (or next weave).

Whoa!! I just noticed, for the first time, your handy links above to the “Training Denver” and “Trick Training” collections! Awesome!! Good to know they’re super easy to find, all in one spot! Yay!! 🙂 RE: this tutorial—I never thought about the value of really “wrapping” each leg before click-treating. Looks like this is another pattern game that would’ve gotten me faster and surely much sharper-looking results than the sloppy way I taught leg weaves. So valuable! 👍🙏

When you start thinking about how you're setting the dog up for the next rep, small adjustments can really make a difference!

Just wondering, when you have this “properly” trained, what would you set the verbal cue as? Or would the action of walking in a really exaggerated manner be the cue? Or something else entirely?

I use "weave" but I also don't do agility. But it definitely has a verbal cue because this position can look a lot like "through" for disc, or middle for some dogs.
