I find using ‘touch’ as a transition super interesting, but also not something that will help my golden cavalier She’s has a super sensitive mouth, and is super gentle with it (as a proper gun dog/cav should be!). Herding dogs probably enjoy ‘touch’ much more, as they can use their mouths in herding (cattle). My pup still does need some transition, but I think I will try the click to mark correct behaviours. She also HATED the fake lure, was SO betrayed 🤣

Maybe a nose touch to target instead of hand? I think a nose touch can be taught to most dogs. Whip's touch is really soft because she's got a generally sensitive face. But she has learned it well enough to be able to close doors and such with some training. Denver's hand touch at this point is like being slammed with a brick lol!
