I'd be interested in hearing you talk about the puppy area you had with Osa. How much of her smaller puppy area was for helping her separated from Whip and Jake and how much would you recommend that in general? Do you have specific recommendations for how to fence off a puppy area reasonably affordably? That seems like the kind of thing to rent or find used (since they aren't puppies forever)

Great question Rick! I will chat about the puppy pen area, why i use it, puppy containment in general, and how to find good deals or create alternatives that are cheaper. Thanks for the question!

A friend has a 5lb toy poodle that bit her when she went to take away their food toy/bone. It was an interesting conversation because there seems to be lots of affection, little structure, very little training, and hurt feeling that her dog would bite her. She has had a trainer, but trainers are only there for a little time. Also, trainers do not force the people become better handler/owners... They thought my dog was a genius (LOL - and yet here I am on a a trainer site). What would be the best advice to give them :-) -> I know what I told them (Teach structure, spend time training, tell them what to do, not what not to do, affection after structure and obedience, etc), but I did feel like I was overwhelming them. They wanted to send the 5lb dog to a military style boot camp -> I thought this might be an interesting topic.

Great topic! While I do not claim to be an expert in resource guarding (RG), I have successfully worked on several cases and am happy to share those experiences with everyone, as well as more resources for those interested! :)

I would be interested in any other puppy stories and advice. I'm (🤞🤞) on the list to take home a pup for fidelco next week ☺️ I'll try to keep all my specific questions for the people who run the Saturday classes (or whatever is appropriate) I have a few broad questions, feel free to answer any that are good for the q&a. Thanks!

On 'burnout' - What do you look for to tell that a puppy's training session? do you set a particular length timer for different age ranges? (3 or 5 minutes or etc) Or do you have any videos of dogs'body language when you decided to end a session because of the dog?
