So last week you saw a full first training session with a harness for CoolWhip who is harness sensitive. In this week's video I'm going to show you the difference between two harnesses and why a dog may prefer one harness over the other. Then we'll get into a shaping session with the goal of shaping a dog who self-loads into the harness.

In this session I start with the same shaping techniques I used in video one, and then move on to doing some targeting. Once she's placing her head in the head-hole consistently, I move on to using some luring to make her more comfortable with taking the harness off, when I discover that taking it off is now the sticking point.

It's important to be flexible in your sessions and train the dog in front of you. I'm really happy with where we left off on this video. And, you'll see how much progress she made in 16 minutes of training total between the two sessions.

Let me know if you have any questions. Happy Training!

Very cool to watch. All sorts of things you can use to simulate a large harness hole like that too. Glow sticks that string together, irrigation tubing string together, and a plastic bubble sheet shipping package with the bottom cut out are a few around my house. Definitely some clipping desensitization to do still (strap around the belly and/or going back to the balance harness). I'd love to see a follow on that if you do it with CoolWhip, no pressure because I don't want to cause stress for you or CoolWhip, but if you think it's right to train and you record it I would certainly benefit from seeing it. Thanks for allowing us to watch the process!! ❤️

Thanks Lindsay! This isn't something I'm focusing on as far as training right now, as I really only put a harness on once she's getting out of her crate to work and she doesn't have an issue with it (and I've got a lot of other things I'm training right now :)) But if I do any more work on it, I'll make a video :)
