September Livestream Call for Questions (Patreon)

Hey Everyone! 

Livestream is coming a bit early this month as I'll be traveling through Lassen, the Tetons, and Yellowstone at the end of the month. The livestream will be on Wednesday September 14th @7:30pm EST, 4:30pm PCT.

Reminder that we are now doing our livestreams via Zoom and I will post the YouTube link after the event with a brief summary of the topics covered. Participants will be muted so please put follow-up questions that pop up during the Zoom in the chat box. Reminder that questions should be related to the topic I am currently covering, as I've run over my hour pretty much every time in the last few months :) 

The cut off for submitting questions is 48 hours prior to the Zoom (Monday) so that I have time to prepare. Please limit questions to 1 per person so I have time to answer them within the hour. Questions should be general enough that I don't need to know your specific dog/behavior to answer the question (this also allows everyone to benefit from the question). If you're looking for more specific feedback on your dog, be sure to join the Elite membership level for video review of your training.

Hi Laura! What do you look for as milestones to consider your dog as a Service Dog in Training? I'm starting to do more excursions to pet friendly places. What do you want to see the dog able to do before you start going into non pet-friendly places with him?

Whats the deal with working bitches in season? As far as I know it's legal, but what does the SD community think about it? I haven't spayed my girl yet and she acts completely fine and hardly bleeds when she's in heat. I don't even make her wear a diaper at home and she doesn't leave any mess. Should I keep her out of PA while she's in heat so she doesn't distract other teams? If so, how long does she need to stay home?

Hello! Could you talk about elevator use with service dogs? I understand it is risky and should be avoided if possible, but can you talk about practical uses and how to go about training it safely? Thank you!

This might be a controversial question, but I talk about it a lot with fellow trainers/handlers and am curious to hear your answer. Do you think there is a point at which a service dog’s quality of life needs to be considered as potentially more important than the quality of life they might bring to their handler?

Hey Ari! I had to change it to one because I've run to 90 minutes every single one for the last few and it's too long for everyone lol! I am thinking of adding another level that will include a "what I feel like talking about this month, or challenges i'm having or a clients having etc." that will be for a smaller group of people. Stay tuned lol
