I suggest reading the episode before this to avoid spoilers!
Episode 4 was a much-needed reflection time for Bloom. After what happened at Eraklyon I always felt like Bloom needed to think about all the times Sky wasn't a good boyfriend to her. While I know he was under a spell in this situation, there was always something happening between them and there was just no end to it. Potion or no potion.
Stella is of course here to help Bloom through this difficult time!
Something not mentioned in the episode but which always stuck with me, is how Bloom was able to break free from Darkar's spell just from hearing Sky's voice. While Sky was never able to break free from a simple potion on his own for even a second. I understand that Bloom is a fairy and Sky has no magic, but I feel like he should have been able to fight it even just a little. It speaks volumes to me how Bloom will, and can, do anything for Sky yet Sky barely does anything for her. This again, also shows the extreme power imbalance between them, not only the issues in their relationship.
A point in this episode which I want to draw attention to as well is that in my version Bloom is not over what happened to her last season. I feel like the original show glossed over the kind of trauma Bloom must have suffered from being turned into Dark Bloom. Not only was she made to do things which put her friends in danger and was turned into a mindless slave, but she was also betrayed by someone she looked up to and trusted. Spy Avalon must have left a mark on her, and I feel like it is a disservice to just pretend Bloom is fine with what happened. Someone once told me "Well, she's magic, she can just get over it.", and I've never heard anything more wrong. Just because you're powerful doesn't mean you can't have emotions and don't need to process trauma.
Just wanted to share these thoughts with you all haha.
Let me know what you think about this and today's episode!
