16 years ago, this 19-year-old black woman was found dead in Balad, Iraq. Her story has never gotten enough attention for me, so I wanted to explore the case in a way that also discussed the Post-911 Bush Era.

This story haunts my dreams. For years after first learning of it I used to have nightmares about how she must’ve have suffered that night. The Army cover up made me lose all of my pride at having once been a soldier.

As a Black woman Air Force veteran who served from 2000 to 2004 her story always hit close to home for me. Thank you for sharing her story.
