This video was very tough to write and work on, but I'm glad it's finally complete. Let's address the history of black women and intimate partner violence by examining the structural, cultural, and situational layers that make the problem so widespread. I fully expect this video to make people uncomfortable, and even downright hostile. Please share and comment when I share on twitter/youtube tomorrow. Thank you!

Divestment is not about worshiping white men…..like, really, Lex?

CynicalThot

It’s definitely not all divestment channels. I think you and I both understand where these channels are coming from. This very video is discussing black femicide. If you can differentiate between the abusive black men and the non abusive, why is the divestment movement being lazily lumped as “anti black?” I’ve definitely seen some divestment channels that were so delusional and offered no benefit to black women, but it’s so frustrating to see this tired narrative of black women showing other black women that they do not need to remain loyal to a community that collectively doesn’t protect them as being “anti black.”

CynicalThot

It wasn’t lost. Someone disagreeing with a statement you made in a video doesn’t mean they missed the entire point of it. Hopefully you actually take the feedback.

CynicalThot

I misinterpreted that portion of the video/comment(?). I don’t mean to be a bitch to you, I see sentiments about black women forming their own movements as being anti black very often both in person and online that I responded to that portion of the video. That’s my personal trigger though, nothing to do with you.

This video was so informative! As always, I'm grateful for your work 💛

Christina

This was incredible!! Thank you for making this video. I have been getting into prison abolishment but you make excellent points about abusers. I haven’t heard many solutions on that end. Hopefully more will be determined as time goes on.

My dear law school friend was recently murdered by her boyfriend and it of course devastated everyone that knew her. She was truly the nicest, warmest, happiest person I've ever met. What made it worse was that her murder was splashed across the news (and social media) in such a callous manner without any regard given to her the person or that the femicide of Black women is largely ignored in the states. Thank you for this video, for spreading our stories and fighting for us. I appreciate you 💛

Had to finally become a patron to support a fellow Buckeye. Keep up the great work!

I've been lurking and watching your videos and this one I was finally at a place where I could do monthly contributions. All of your work is great but I think this one is really important to a lot of people I hold dear. I had a hard time and definitely had to pace myself through the content but I appreciate that it exists.
