I think its a set up for the final Battle i hope aizen get more next episode, or i will be dissapointed

Jerett Dawson

I don't know what to think, overall good episode, but now that uryu and ichigo are back together it makes me feel they will go through the last fight so damn fast.. But, with it being postponed till october.? Maybe it'll be a great finale but we will see

Matthew Richson

And now we have to wait 5 weeks and 2 days for the next episode. 😭 Though by all indications episode 49 might be another fanservice feast.

Adrian

It was a decent episode but Aizen was definitely underwhelming in my opinion. They didn’t extend anything from the manga (One chapter of fighting) despite all the new stuff the last few eps. It lasted like 3 minutes maybe less, but the set up with Ichigos Getsuga Tensho was nice. I really don’t know how the entire series will get wrapped up in 2 episodes unless they are longer but ill stay optimistic Seeing the Fullbringers come back was also very nice and the ending of the episode got me exited for whats next. And seeing Komomarua again was unexpected but welcome

Frank Franklin

Yeah this one really deflated me, nothing new for the dads, fullbringers and even aizen. This episode could easily have been 2 Can only hope the whole extra MONTH of waiting will be worth it for the final 2

Stuart Workman

I do wish the aizen and yhwach fight was extended but the setup for the finale is a major improvement than the one in the manga. Let's hope it's a better finale and worth the wait!

Adrian

I kinda doubt it unfortunately since he seemed to be fully overtaken by the reaitsu but id love to be wrong

Chetan

Just had to pay for the Patreon for this reaction, I felt the Aizen scenes were somehow longer in the manga considering how little he was here, and the Hado 99 was kinda lacklustre

Zero

yeah.... cmon T_T hopefully the delay means something...

martin meeks

I think this was a good episode even if the fight is one to one with the manga i never thought the actual fight with Aizen vs Ywach was bad do I wish we got Aizen Bankai as a cliffhanger yes but at the same time even if we did i think the results would have always been the same with Ichigo being the one to put down Ywach the one thing so far im sad that didn’t change in cour 4 was the Gerard fight but maybe he was just so unkillable Ywach just didn’t want to risk keeping him around and needed the power from Ichigo to have enough strength to use achwahlen on Gerard.

Lucas Margroff

I feel like aizen only disengaged his shikai to activate his bankai, or he’ll have lived through what happened and decides to use his bankai during the next fight now that he’s assumed dead and, caught off guard that he’s under aizens bankai or whatever it could mean, will be why yhwach won’t be able to see a future where he isn’t hit with the silver arrow? idk could be cope but im sad i gotta wait a month to find out 🫠

LegoKnightAlpha

I can’t help but feel underwhelmed by the episode. I’m excited to see where we can still go

cookie

Peoples expectations where set super high I think but, I did hope the Aizen stuff was extended just a little even like one extra scene.

Gustav

I actually think they will do more with aizen tbf he has been very hyped up, hate powerscalers and so on, but for the 3rd most powerful char in the show to do so little is very dissapointing, i geniuenly belive he will be a focal point in the next ep him and ichigo, if it’s Uryu i will be kinda dissapointe, love uryu as a char but love aizen more so i will still have my hopes up…. Iam swedish sorry if i misspelled some words!

Hkig

I mean, people have been getting chopped up to pieces and coming back, Aizen is fused with Hogyoku, he can definitely come back into the picture.

Dirk Buzzard

Man I was really, really hoping they extended Aizen and Ywach.. I've been a little disappointed since 45, I know that's annoying but it's how I feel.

Abhishek 011h

idk wht the fuss is all about people saying they didnt extend anything the next episode is LITERALLY THEM EXTENDING EVERYTHING and we know aizen is gonna get a moment since hes alive to give the courage speech so he is getting that one up on yuha possibly teaming up with mimihagi since ukitake and him had tht back and forth about in SS arc. if u take the aizen fangirl glasses off youll see this is an incredible episode lol and the people abusing the animators maybe needs to listen to their own advice

Sejad Lulic

yes. if aizen is out for the count now... its gonna be a problem for the reputation of the series. promises were made, people expect something. dont disappoint the people as u did with episode 47.

Kamron Sims

im sure the last two episodes will go bananas so ima be calm

It'sLorenzo

Episode 49 gotta be much longer than a usual episode and way more intense to warrant a 1 month delay. We all wait now in high anticipation.

Joshi

Not really

Matthew Richson

As for why Nel is a child again, she tossed her bracelet in episode 48, that’s what Uryu used to swap everyone’s places along with the Quincy buttons.

Esther Dickerson

I liked the episode, don’t get me wrong, it just felt a bit anticlimactic somehow? It felt a bit fast-paced, even dare I say a bit rushed? Maybe because I haven’t read the manga it felt a lot more disjointed in a way? 🤷‍♀️

Saturn Hawk

I asked and I did receive

Apeto

Not sure how I’m going to wait a month for the next episode

Chris Hard

Mr Tommo, random question but how do you handle ignoring bleach hate? I feel as though my social media feed, especially after an episode like this, gets flooded by new/fake fans spewing out bleach hate saying things like "the episode looks worse than AI". Growing up being a huge bleach fan I've definitely grown used to the bleach hate but it gets a little disheartening in times like this feeling like it may have an effect on the future success of the series. I don't understand what it is about the anime community to essentially pray on the downfall of certain series and never will understand.

Luxsame

I’ve seen a lot of people complaining online so far, but getting an actual final battle is infinitely better than what we got in the manga. And to the people complaining about Aizen, he 100% is gonna be in the next “final battle” episode. I mean he’s literally in the same area as Ichigo and Uryu, and that hit from Yuha didn’t kill him.

Joshi

Is it too much to ask for Grimmjow segunda etapa

Daniel Smith

Outside of the actual anime and story the fumbling that has occurred post the internet breaking episode 45, the delayed uploads, shit being uploaded without subtitles, the attack on creators... And now also a month delay on production. Just not helping themselves...

xNico

I feel like this episode will be what suffered the most due to the 10 episode count. Personally, while I really did enjoy what they added and (slightly) changed from the original, I much would have preferred more time actually expanding the main problems from the manga's ending with Ryuken, and actually creating more of a fight with Aizen

KenBoozer93

I think aizen is gonna be in the battle.

Hkig

I see why people would be disappointed with the Aizen content, but seeing the direction and last few episodes, this feels like an episode to power through the manga content and get into the anime original new finale. Just from that ending, anything is on the table, we could have a lot of different participants come into this final showdown. Sucks to have to wait over a month, but I'm optimistic for the last two episodes, I enjoyed this episode overall myself.

Adnan Malek

It is crazy to think we have 2 episodes left and, if we were truly following the manga, we were maybe a couple minutes away from a sudden time skip.

KenBoozer93

Yeah cuz they about to make a whole new final battle

Firtho952

You’ve got to let go of this bankai idea

KenBoozer93

We have two new episodes that’s gonna be brand new content

afz3003

i wouldnt say it was dissapointing, but its obvious they are doing something big for the final battle, hence the delay until october.

nickp3065 .

I think Ryuken and Isshin went all around and collected the sliver from every single Quincy that is why they were never there. Isshin was needed to forge it with his Engetsu.

Gregg_Rulz0k

I play Aizen in a Geist ttrpg campaign and have been hyping up "Aizen's big day" for weeks at this point 😭😭😭

Daniel Smith

Episode wise think this was necessary effectively to blow through the manga to give them space to create something incredible in the next two. I am frustrated tbh that the true bankai appears to just make big getsuga go brr but we will see, ichigo is injured I guess. Agree that xcution, aizen and the dads get kinda short shrift but they can basically do whatever they want next episode, those captains we saw don't have to be the only ones, the dads can go help their sons which would be a nice touch and we've got a series of dominoes lined up for ywachs eventually defeat - mimihagi, still silver, uryus antithesis and hints at soul king power and ichigos power. I hope they use the extra month wisely, make another internet breaker and give this genre defining piece of art the send off it deserves before (I hope) an announcement card at the end of the credits for the final episode confirming either light novel anime/movies or the return of the manga.

Bradeh

Worst Dads ever.

Xailes

Im pretty sure Nelliel tossed the thing that allowed her to stay in adult form so Uryu could use the Antithesis on Yhwach and it most likely blew up later

Daniel Smith

Honestly it was so bizarrely nothing I actually kinda hope it's foreshadowing for a CFYOW anime adaption

Xailes

Also about the travel between realms, Yukio still has that "elevator", and we saw Riruka and Yukio go down from the palace to the Seireitei

Chetan

If we going on a break for them to make the last 2 episodes better we really could be in for a treat

Xailes

And just a guess but the three worlds are almost collapsed, so maybe travel between them is easier

Daniel Smith

I dunno, maybe, I'd be a bit sad if we get another fight that turns out to have never happened or something, it would be the ultimate aizen Uno reverse throwback but we've already have so much reality warping power on the battlefield now 😵‍💫

Manuel Rubio

Considering that episode 49 will most likely be the last episode where they roll the credits, nothing would be more hilarious if the highlight character was Chad. On the other hand, nothing would be more sad for Chad to be the only main character to not be highlighted in the credits 😂😂😂😂😂

kelvintoogood

In cour 3, Nelliel said it was a bracelet Urahara made her that stabilized her reiatsu to let her be an adult again. I'm guessing this is the same bracelet she used in the last episode with the antithesis and now no longer has it and thats why she's a child again

Quique

I think they used Yukio's and Riruka's ability to move everyone around idk

Gordon

I get being disappointed about Aizen, but the guy was the overarching villain for 420 chapters. He did cool stuff for the overwhelming majority of the series. This section was never really about him, and using Kyoka Suigetsu to undermine The Almighty, even if it's just a little bit, is still a tremendous display of power. Giving Yhwach more time to shine with his world-ending power is, narratively, significantly more important and impactful than giving Aizen a few extra minutes before he loses. It's trading "aura and hype" for actual storytelling, which is how it needs to be.

Gregg_Rulz0k

If the reiatsu dissolves the remaining seals on the Hogyoku then it's likely to either bring Aizen back to the fight or start melding with Yuha in potentially negative ways

TheLegendOfSora73

Personally I don't feel that an extended fight of Yhwach VS Aizen is essential (despite how cool it would be); frankly I think there's a few much more important things that need to be properly resolved before the finale, sooner rather than later. I'm hoping this break will help with that somehow =|

hexiA

We gonna get some shunpo soon ... ?

Gregg_Rulz0k

Actually...if Yuha's reiatsu interacts with the Hogyoku that could end up being why Aizen is able to sense when the last of it gets snuffed out by Kazui

Ethan

I came into this episode with high expectations storywise and yes I was somewhat disapointed but the end of this episode did a lot to get me excited again. I've also got pretty harsh feelings about the delay but thats for another day

Calvin

Completely understandable that people are very disappointed in this episode. Out of all the episodes in Cour 4, I think this is the weakest one by far. Pacing was VERY VERY rushed. They went through like 4 chapters in like 15 mins. They rushed through the fight a lot and didn't really leave any few second for the fight scene to breath. We are seeing Hado 99 for the first time and it feels sooooo underwhelming compared to the Manga. Aizen got blitzed out his mind so quickly (as he did in the manga to be fair) and kinda felt like he lost so much of the aura that he has. However, while this episode was very disappointing for how good Cour 4 has been so far, I do think they're kinda just rushing through the Manga material so they can set up a more dramatic all anime fight in the end. They've kinda set up three major battles on three fronts against Yhwach in Soul Society (Ichigo, Uryu, and hopefully Aizen), in Hueco Mundo (Nel, Grimmjow, and Halibel), and human world (Toshiro, Byakuya and Shunsui). There's still almost 3 episodes worth of anime left (I think one of these episodes will be 1 hour long), so I'm not OVERLY worried. If this were the last episode of TYWB, then YES i would be very upset, but there's still time to wrap this up nicely. I do think with how insane episode 45 was, the expectations of the ending of Bleach was just astronomically increased. We'll see how they cook in 49 and 50 before making any conclusions.

Calvin

It does seem like they're rushing through the manga material. Even Hado 99 looked pretty terrible for being how it's the single most powerful Hado out there. Can only hope that Kubo wants to wrap up most of the manga material so he can focus on the insane anime only fights in the last 2 (3?) episodes.

Calvin

I mean it feels longer because with the manga, you're reading it and animating it in your head at your own reading pace. There was nothing shortened from the manga. It played out as quickly as it did there too. It was a 100% adaptation. Except for the Auswählen of Gerard and Haschwalth i believe, which was done earlier in the anime. I think what they should have done if it was going to be a 100% adaptation of the manga is just have some more frames. Let Hado 99 stay on the screen a little longer to make it feel more impactful and huge. I think there just needed some extra frames to let the audience soak in what's happening.

TheChimpPit

On a second rewatch viewing, I'm far happier with this episode then with first viewing. If you look at all of this episode being exhibition and setup for a brand new final battle, then I seriously can't wait, and I'm happy they are taking the time to really cook for the final 2 episodes. I still hope there will be more to come after this, especially with the momentum Bleach has right now. Anytime they've done something new, either with Blood Chains, Uryu's ywatch fight, or uryu Vs renji, they've absolutely nailed it. And the very final fight is, of course the most scrutinized in the series - they have to hit a home run here. I am still thinking, that the end of the next episode is going to be Steel Sliver, Ywatch losing his powers, and then the stolen Zanka No Tachi Vs Ichigo for the final episode. but that's my guess. Then Ywatchs death before the mid point. Then 2nd half the episode for the epilogue. But ahhhh, it feels like we really could have used another 2 episodes of runtime at times, but at the end of an amazing run, we always do want more. Here's hoping it's not the end. Not truly, anyways. The gates of hell are yet to open.

Calvin

I agree with this. It's just that everyone loves Aizen. Villain for 420 chapters or not, he's admittedly a very charismatic character and people wanted to see more. I think there was just too much hype and copium that he was going to utter the word, "Bankai". With how much Kubo changed the story behind Cour 4 from the Manga, it's understandable i guess for them to hope for that, but only to be disappointed by it not happening.

Gordon

I totally get everyone loving Aizen. Dude was a great villain and was a lot of fun to watch/read over the years. I really do understand the disappointment, but I am glad that if Aizen wasn't doing as much, it at least got to go to Yhwach doing more with his power. And if the last battle ends up being a fight across the Three Worlds, I wouldn't be surprised if Aizen ended up doing a bit more.

Olpazi Alter

my guess is everyone hoped into the cube and fast travelled down, also where is Yoruichi and Kisuke, we see grimmjow up surely they will be back

fletchlad82D

As much as I hate waiting a month..it's ridiculous. I'm hoping the next two episodes are half an hour long Isshin bankai ( like it has to come, if isshin and ryuken don't do anything that's crazy) = i was already upset that izuru didn't get a proper fight. After seeing the episode and believing just after seeing yhwach "absorbing" aizen in photos on twitter I thought all of that was perfect hypnosis and it would revert back to aizen with the hole in his body and then ichigo delivers that getsuga tensho. But the three world battle , everyone against yhwach Byakuya , toshiro, soi Fon and Shunsui all get to fight yhwach = insane All Arrancars Vs yhwach = epic Ichigo, uryu , ( hopefully aizen, isshin , ryuken ) and renji Vs yhwach = amazing Man I still hate having to wait a month but like..I can wait.. just abit longer

Patrick Kimbrell

I'm fine with aizen not getting more screen time if that means we get a heavily improved finale.

Vypnox

I wonder if there is a chance if old man zangetsu was the poem and not Yhwach himself

Light Yagami

Episode was good, but I still wanted and expected more Aizen stuff :/

Dylan Tepper

I do find it hilarious we FINALLY had a bright blue sky and immediately the production said NO, MORE INSANE RED FILTERS THIS TIME WITH EYES EVERYWHERE

Darth Insanius

I know you asked MrTommo but wanted to chime in here cause I see this too. I honestly just don’t engage with those posts on social media. I mainly see them on Facebook so I avoid those groups and instead engage in more positive Bleach communities like MrTommo’s Patreon or YouTube channel, and a few other content creators I like. Avoid the places that suck up the fun and engage with the ones being more positive and fun to be in is my advice.

scarg

I'm certainly hoping this episode ends up being a victim of the spectacle to come. Everything about it just felt off to me. As you said, the artwork was pretty nice but the animation was underwhelming. It felt like we saw more minimal movement scenes and reused animations (and reused hollows) which makes me hope there was just less time and budget left for this with what they have planned. The direction of the episode also felt off, with conversations happening very quickly, almost feeling as if everything was on 1.5x speed, a lack of intentional dialogue silence and some real lack of emotion in what really ought to have been big moments. The immediate aftermath of Yhwach's "death" felt very understated and Aizen kinda appeared as if he were about to say "anyway, now that's done, wanna get lunch?" Aside from time and budget being potential factors, it kinda feels like they wanted to fit in the post-credits scene and had to squeeze everything else into the air time. Hopefully the delay and that post-credits setup means they've got something really big lined up for the finale and the whole thing will really go off with a bang.

Kai-lo

Personally I thought this episode was pretty good I don't really have any complaints like most people do. I didn't have expectations for Aizen it's just nice to see him being active still looking cool. And with this setup and this final battle including so many characters that's really all I could have hoped. At the end of the day this is still leaps and bounds better than the manga so I'm pretty happy with it and excited for the finale.

Arise Aizen

your patreon best 3 bucks ever lol i also wished stark would show up, next week is gonna be so insane. Lets hope for our boi aizen to do more stuff. i doubt it tho

Dawn Lim

Hope is not lost, Aizen will get back up and use Bankai in next episode and rewrite reality

Stellar Endurance

Nel is a child again because some of the objects used to switch people around using the Antithesis were her bracelets in #47. They were likely lost during/after the fight and they either ended up neglecting to recollect them or they're straight up destroyed.

Trae Young Supremacist

i think mid final battle the dads and others like aizen could show up.

Trae Young Supremacist

i think aizen expectations were too high especially considering how much stronger yhwach is in the anime compared to manga. him being able to fool yhwach after everyone fighting him together previously couldn't was enough for me

EtherealStoicism

A few issues I had; I didn't like how the Arrancars just suddenly were in Hueco Mundo. Why...? So they watched Ichigo and Renji jump into the portal to pursue Ywach, and were just like, "Well we're going home. See ya!" Then the captains suddenly being in the living world. So they predicted Ywach would appear in all 3 worlds?? That's weird. And then the dads and Xcution also sat back and let Ichigo, Renji, and Uryu go, and didn't follow? Also, how did Uryu even get there? The portal opened by Ywach closed behind Ichigo and Renji. And then also, when Ywach first appears in the Seireitei, it appears to be in perfect condition before he unleashes the blue flames. But we’ve seen most of it destroyed earlier in the arc.

kentastic

which is why im extremely excited but the month long wait will be brutal

KenBoozer93

Note that we didn’t see renji after KS. What if that was renji that got eaten up

Eli stamstad

Who can we start a petition with to delay this shit two months if they redo/update episode 8

Eli stamstad

There was no gravity to anything and that can simply be fixed by pacing and music. It doesn’t take 2 million dollar animation

Midnight Daybreak

I don't know why Aizen bothered with that whole Hogyoku, Arrancar army nonsense. Everyone and their dad seem to be able to get in and out of the Royal Realm just fine.

Almightyslicks

I know I’m reaching here but how cool would it be if the 5 special war threats all faced off against Yhwach at the same time in the finale? Maaann that would so dope.

Roland Kovacs

They can travel because the fullbring kids power (don’t remember his name) works differently due to the words are collapsing. They mentioned it briefly somewhere.

Remy Rovelli

I hope we get to see more from Grimmjow <3

Alexander

If the Dads don't show up to help Ishida and Ichigo it seems like a completely wasted opportunity to me

Zephyr

This is maybe like the least important detail you asked about, and you mightve already figured it out, but Nel is in her child form bc she took off the cuffs that let her change at will as part of Uryu's plan from last week. She therefore no longer has control over what form she's in
