yayyy another episode!!! So about the names, Chinese people have a culture of a given name (by parents or guardians at birth) and a coutesy name that is given later in life through maybe a mentor that signifies any achievements. It can even been kind of seen as a rite of passing in some cases. Of course normal farmers and peasants don't have these names. It's usually for the educated or accomplished. It kind of acts like a honorary title of sorts, or a name that you're known as in society. Your given name is usually only used by close familes and friends. So in Yan Zheng's (fake name) case, his given name is Xie Zheng and his courtesy name is Xie Jiuheng. Marquis Wu'an is his noble title. So depending on what people call him, you can kind of infer their relationship with him. A lot of times between gentlemen, as manners they call each other by courtesy name to show reverence/respect to each other in society and maybe when in private talking about personal things they would refer to each other with given names. Sometimes it's seen as rude to call someone by given if not close and/or if not given permission to. Usually you refer to people by last name with an honorific or by courtesy name if they have one.

Mr Sun has such a good imagination 😂🤣 trying to see his friend being bullied by a butch lady and submitting. 😂 I think you got most of what's needed right now. Meaning all the characters shown so far.

More Cdrama selections? There's a ton to choose from out there. I think you will probably be choosing what the majority of your patreons request. People tend to choose dramas based on their favorites first, then we think about what our favorites have done and recommend those. 😅 Very few will actually recommend what you ask for.

Peppermint

I'm excited to see what your next Chinese Show would be! :D

YAYYYYYYYYYYYY

Its crazy that in chinese dramas, most cliff fall scenes can be survived 😂 but be careful of soups, those are the most deadly… 😂😂 but i cant wait for ep 9, im sitting on my patreon everyday! 😂 and the Xie Yi & Xie San are his men, lots of servants/guards will take the family last name and then be given a simple first name (in this case numbers 1-yi 2-Ar 3-San 4-Si 5-Wu)

The Fool

Wow what a surprise.... I wasn't expecting an extra episode. Thank you....

Can't wait to see your reaction to the next episode

Regarding currency, copper coins are wen, a jin amounts to 1.316 lbs (a unit in ancient chinese). A tael is another important unit (about 37.5g), often used to calculate silver and gold. If you were from noble background, you'd deal mainly in silver taels and gold taels. If you were a commoners, you'd likely deal in copper coins and might have little nuggets of silver like Changyu, which value more than copper coins but less than a tael (below 37.5g). As for time flow, Changyu says Spring festival is near the corner (usually celebrated between late january or in February), so we can assume that one or two months have gone by, if she found him in early winter.

You are doing so well with the names....I was awful keeping track of who was who until a rewatch. Good job!

Mr Sun's imagination is hilarious! He's freaking himself out so much he's jumping at shadows! I don't know if you ever watched Downton Abbey, but the family are aristocrats and have their Title name and Family name. So the Father is the Earl of Grantham but the family name is Crawley. Zheng is similar to that except for the fake name he gave to Changyu to hide his identity. So Xie is his family name and the guys that he mentions when talking to Mr Sun are members of the Xie clan, a prominent military family in this country. Zheng's title is the Marquis of Wu'An, and his courtesy name is Jiuheng was given to him by his teacher and we meet him later in the show. Bare in mind it's the middle of winter when Zheng fell into the river too. So not only did he survive falling off a cliff but he survived freezing temperatures while floating down the river and being soaking wet when he collapsed in the snow. Yes you are correct that the guy who turned up late to the meeting with the emperor and said to hide the Marquis' death is his uncle Wei Yan who is Zheng's mother's brother. The assassins work for his uncle the Chancellor. The big question is WHY does he want Changyu and her sister dead. Wei Xuan is his cousin (uncle's son) and he is extremely jealous of Zheng. I don't remember if it's been mentioned yet but Changyu is only about 18 or 19 years old atm. So her hidden stash of candy that she found a couple of episodes ago is not 20 years old it might be 15 years old max. How it wasn't eaten by ants and such in that time I do not know. Changyu gets flustered so easily its so cute! Honestly they are both as bad as each other when it comes to admitting their feelings. Qianqian is going to be an important character going forward. She's the second female lead and we haven't met her counterpart yet but he's a real nutjob. Jin = unit of weight Wen = currency (the copper coins) Mace = One mace was equal to 1/10 of a tael (this was mentioned when Changyu first reopened her shop) Tael (the little nuggets) = currency usually silver or gold (kind of like a modern day gold bar) that can be cut into smaller pieces to pay for things. The big round coaster looking pieces of silver is worth 10 taels. Earlier when Zheng was talking to Mr Sun, he mentioned a prince Changxin. He is related to the former emperor, but he is currently the leader of the rebel faction.

Just for ease of access here is the units etc that you didn't understand. Tael is pronounced tail as in a cat or dogs tail

So the most people already told you that she actually carried him (he is actually 200lbs, not 160lbs, idk why they are keep saying it wrong, he said that himself recently, le looks skinny but he he is very tall) but just so you know, most actors are expected to do their own stunts in their industry, like that is normal. You don't want to do to action scenes? Then don't take action scenes in cdramas, they are that strict. For example they actually put him in cold weather and cold water to film that scene. The also learn to ride horses, Linghe (Xie Zheng) got really good at it.
