Glad that you didn't completely write it off because of the (fake) reverse-harem elements and some old gags. I still enjoy it for what it has to offer. Fun fact: the final arc of the anime is anime original, because the anime caught up to the ongoing manga at the time, and thus the studio had wrapped up the season with an original plotline that is different from what the manga was going for while allowing the main crew stayed in character.

For as old as this anime is, it's still a good show. I will say in the manga Tamaki repairs his relationship with his grandmother and they become much closer than they are in the anime. From what I remember the Host Club members end up going and living in Spain at some point because Haruhi gets an exchange student type of deal for college or the rest of high school. If you ever decide to read it it is a decent read.
