We already saw her locked up in the flashback last episode (her trauma of darkness/being alone in the yin-yang seal). She's locked up because ig Break is a bigger deal than Seal for the baba, and it's easier to keep her depowered since she gets depowered at night/in dark (conceptually/metaphysically the same thing, as per the Yin-Yang esoteric concept), whereas Yoru is nerfed during the day & buffed at night, so keeping him in normal lit indoor areas probably depowers him too I think, but he doesn't otherwise have as easy of a counter at night as Asa does during the day by being locked up in a dark shithole. This episode got me thinking. Gabby uses the word "hanpamono", which seems to me to imply she's probably some type of a half-daemon (based on the usual usage of the word "hanpa" in tons of fantasy settings, such as when Emilia is referred to as "hanma" which basically means half evil entity + kanji breakdown I just looked up from a Japanese teaching site (shoutout to nihongomaster)), which IMO explains her crashing out last episode, as well as her half-assed name which is clearly not standard Japanese, and especially when her contract daemon is named Gabriel. I assume the "misfit" in the subs means this type of a "mutt" character, who doesn't fit in with either race (common sad backstory of many mixed-race characters in fantasy settings etc), and is thus discriminated by both of the parent races due to being a weird "mutt" essentially.

This ep was fast as fck. But this really fleshed out Yuru's character, killing someone and seeing someone dead from a young age because I'm really wondering how the hell was he so calm when the villagers got butchered in the first episode
