Ceyda Nur

She is really her granddaughter

When cells in the body gets injured, the outcome isn't always just "healed" or "not healed." Damage can be temporary or permanent, and the body may respond by repairing tissue, regenerating it, or adapting to the injury. Neuroplasticity falls under adaptation, not repair. Neuroplasticity doesn't mean the brain regenerates destroyed tissue. It means the brain can reorganize itself and reroute functions through surviving neural pathways. Also, many neurons in the brain are different from cells in tissues like skin or the intestinal lining. Skin cells may be replaced within days or weeks, intestinal cells within days, and red blood cells roughly every 120 days. Many neurons however, can last your entire lifetime. This isn't just because the body thinks neurons are "more important." It's because mature neurons are highly specialized and wired into extremely complex networks. Replacing a neuron isn't like replacing a skin cellyou'd also have to rebuild thousands of precise connections carrying memory, movement, language and other functions.(All this which are kind of imprited on the neurons) The body is honestly fascinating in the way it works. I think if the damage was smaller or more localized, surviving brain tissue could possibly compensate for some of the lost function and adapt around it. But if a huge chunk of the brain is gone, there is only so much adaptation can do because eventually there isn't enough structure left to reroute around. So severe brain damage can absolutely be difficult or impossible to reverse. Neuroplasticity can help the brain adapt and compensate, but adaptation isn't the same thing as regenerating lost brain tissue. So from a sci-fi perspective, "massive brain damage exceeded the brain's ability to compensate or regenerate "(It's why I kinda theorize that in the K-drama,"Moving" kim doo shik really saved the "Monster's" life. if that backstabbing asshole had actually driven a sharpoon through the "monster"'s brain, that might've been what finally killed him. The guy had just fought hundreds of people, destroyed cars, tanked bullets and all kinds of crazy stuff, but massive brain damage feels like a different category entirely.) Brain tissue is weird bc the issue isn't only growing new ones back, it's reconnecting everything correctly Losing neurons isn't just losing cells, you're losing thousands of connections tied to memory, movement, language etc. IF they do grow back you might be alive but not living and word need to relearn everything like a baby. Heck, it's probably why neuroplasticity is so fascinating. The brain often rather adapt by rerouting functions through surviving pathways because that's way easier than rebuilding an entire damaged network from scratch. I know i yapped alot but I happen to have really enjoyed neuroscience.

When Chaeni got the heart of the Child of Eternity transferred to her, the superpower was dormant. So it did help prolong her life temporarily, but it was like just getting a regular heart, not superpower heart. So when she died during the fake kidnapping, she wasn't going to be revived. She was dead dead. Then she got in contact with the contaminated water which then activated the healing superpower.

Hyun

the homie's superpower was already activated by Chae-ni while clapping was happening

I'm glad you eventually understood why Chaeni was feeling guilty, just like the grandma. She loves Chaeni so much (and yes, she's her real granddaughter) that she was willing to fund the experiment to find a cure for Chaeni. What's not clear is if she knew exactly what kind of experiments were being done on the kids. Given what I can see of her character, she probably knew what was going on was illegal and dangerous, but did not know the extent. It still makes her culpable and that's why she's carried the guilt ever since.

i just dont get how the power is in the heart but cant heal the brain unless the power is in the brain but then why would the power transplant with the heart. Pretty confusing stuff.

FreshestAnime

yeah ive come to understand that by now. I think grandma funded the stuff specifically to save her granddaughter or fund the research that would save her grandaughter

FreshestAnime

i mean, thats just theoretical, right? or is it explained in a later episode?

FreshestAnime

sure by being left alone but Ro Bin seemed pretty happy dealing with the boom boom cha guy Pal Ho so it seemed like his power would have worn off since it seems like he needs to remain in the state of hurt feelings. I'm probably just nitpicking too much 🤷‍♂️

Lani S

You’re right. Just my theory. It’s not explicitly explained.
