Pursuit of Jade is up for 3 Global OTT ( Over The Top) awards. This is a huge honor of awards for streaming Asian shows. The awards are: 1. Best Actress-Tian Xiwei as Changyu. 2. Best Support Actor - Deng Kai for the evil gray haired Royal brother Qi Min played by Deng Kai. Usually secondary actors in Cdramas do not have much promotion in a series when it is released. Deng Kai's popularity exploded with the fans after The Pursuit of Jade. He now has to contend with fans chasing him when he appears on public. 3. Best OST ( Original Sound Track) by JJ Jin for "I'm Cautious Above Fate." The love theme song for this movie. The awards will be given mid June.

I don't know why the Netflix translation is so bad. There are a lot of mistranslations. At the beginning of this episode, they were talking about "Shuǐ," which means "water." I mean, how could Zhao Xun hear Xie Zheng saying "swim" from the top of the cliff? It doesn't make sense, because that it should be translated as "water," since they could see the water coming from above.

I think that it's a tendency for Netflix translation to localize half the dialogues without contextualizing the rest of the dialogues. What Xie Zheng asked, "Familiar with water?", can be interpreted as "Know how to swim in water?" in Mandarin. I feel like Netflix just apply a short translation for a short sentence as they see fit and caused the mistranslation.

Another great episode. When the nanny shouted "As long as the green hills remains", it is a message to her son. It is the first part of a Chinese proverb. The second part is "There is no need to worry about firewood" It is the Chinese equivalent of saying "Where there is life, there is hope." There is another mistranslation by Netflix. When Lord Li told Changyu his courtesy name is Wenkan and its meaning, Changyu thought he said Menkan which is literally the threshold (the bottom part of a doorframe) of a doorway that people step over. She started calling him Menkan (door threshold) from this point on.

36:30 Li specifically called Mr.Zhao as Uncle (Zhao), and Tao got mad because he thought Li was calling him a Uncle. The translation ignored the honorifics for consistent naming as usual, but then joke bits like this are easy to miss because of the missing honorifics.

I was thinking the same thing, was it a similar mistranslation that the revel general had 3,000 not 30,000? Like how sui yuanqing had “20,000” when it was really 2,000

Ever since i saw Li SMILE when he saw the divorce letter… i thought he was a little sus 😂 but who doesnt have a crush on changyu 😂😂 its either you hate her and want to defeat her strength (sui fellow) or you love her and maybe fall for how strong she is 😂

This time the translation is correct. The Sui generals (Shi Yue & Shi Hu) have 30,000 troops. Whereas before, they incorrectly translated Sui Yuanqing had 200,000 troops when he only had 20,000.

This is not a major plot point and is not mentioned in the show. In the novel it is based on, Yu Qian Qian is a modern woman transmigrated to that time. It explains why she knew CPR (and have taught others), modern business management methods and what causes cavities.

It's very subtle but Li Hua'ian has feelings for Changyu, even on Lin'an it feels like Xie Zheng can actually sense it so he reveals himself to him (even when he was supposed to hide his identify) to barricade his wife. Li Hua'ian was given info though from Mrs Kang that Changyu and Xie Zheng never consummate their marriage based on her observation. He might have pick up it was just a deal between them, and not a real marriage. He also got hopes seeing the divorce letter. Him asking her to call him using his courtesy name is kind of intimate which Changyu probably didn't think too deep into. Courtesy names are only used by people you are very close with like family and close friends, this is why Gongsun calls Xie Zheng, Jiuheng (his courtesy name), his uncle also calls him this when they are speaking with each other. Some chinese period drama, when female lead marries the male lead, she would start calling him with his courtesy name bec they become family, either that or "Fujun" which means husband.

face reading is a culture similar to palm reading and fortune reading. Chinese people associate certain features to certain fates or characteristics in life. Really common in the these times where people were pretty superstitious. I think now, it's still a thing people are conscious about but say it as a means for compliments and what not. As for commander Li, I thought the same thing, I was getting the feeling that they were setting up to write him as a second love interest. So far, I feel like it's teetering on the edge of platonic to romantic. He clearly has developed care for changyu's well-being but i don't think necessarily think it's completely romantic yet. Commander Li seems more focused on his mission of peace and his family over all. I honestly think it would be great if he wasn't because then we can be shown a close-knit familial-like bond between male and female without it being romantic and just two people genuinely caring about each other's well-being. I think that would also be super wholesome and a nice breather from the dynamic from all the other couples that exist. As of this episode i kind of see him like her elder brother or another constable wang to her.

Wenkan (Young Li) definitely has a one-sided love for Changyu. This is a trope to avoid a love triangle while still having the parts of the triangle. A proper triangle needs the fulcrum to love the other sides.

"I imagine people that watch my reaction Pursuit of jade aren't big fans of anime" 😂😂 Well, well, isn't it ironic that I joined Patreon specifically because of those two shows? ("Kingdom" anime and Pursuit of jade.) Pursuit of jade from a reactor I watch on YouTube gave me a strong urge to check out your channel on Patreon...... (Are they called channels, page or....... On Patreon?). Then I saw my favorite anime and well "If that's not a sign I don't know what is". Kingdom is overwhelmingly underrated amongst international audiences. For the longest time I was worried about the continuation of the anime if it was this relatively unknown (P.S this was years ago, I now know better), until I found out how big of a deal it still is in Japan. Still going strong.
