Mostly you're right. There will be another explanation in episode 29, if I remember correctly. But, if you don't mind a little spoiler, when there was fire in Eastern Palace, actually the plan of Crown Princess Chengde was to switch her son with Prince Changxin's son. That's why she burned Qi Min's face so he didn't get recognized. The one who died in the fire was Sui Yuanhuai, not Qi Min. And since then, Qi Min lived as Prince Changxin's eldest son.

The fish isn't cgi. There are behind the scenes videos where he has the fish on the spear and white he takes the spear our or the water the fish was gone. He lost it in the process 😆 let me know if you want the link for this blooper.

Try to take a look at Zhan Zhao Adventures, as you said you like Kung Fu shit. It’s probably the best Kung Fu TV series in years. It’s just finished airing recently on Viki and Disney+. The last best one was Mysterious Lotus Casebook back in 2023. You may watch them when you have time.

A few notes. Qi Min's ancestry has yet to be further revealed. In the opening scene with the Marquis and Changyu, you see a tear on his face when he is kissing her on the forehead when she is against the tree. This series has illicited some controversy with the CCP ( Chinese Communist Party). Folks were making fun of Zhang Linghe's physical appearance and make up. They were calling him the General that was in the make up chair at 4 AM and then to work at 6 AM. The equivalent of their Cultural Affairs office has taken the position that they want their male leads to be less beautiful and more rugged in the traditional masculine way in these historical dramas. They feel that the emphasis on beauty over traditional masculinity is confusing to their male recruits in the military.

Wasn't there a post credits scene? A couple of the coming episodes have one.

What said in this episode was this. When the fire broke out, lady Changxin, i.e. prince Changxin’s wife, was visiting the eastern palace, where the crown prince family lives. (The subtitle was confusing because it mistranslated lady Changxin as princess Changxin, and missed the information that lady Changxin was only visiting and got caught in the fire.)

I am absolutely happy that you are enjoying and loving the show, this show was so dear to me, and just to see others loving it as well and watching your reaction is just beautiful, love it. you got it down pretty well that crown prince chengde's son is qi min who is now sui yuanhai, the eldest son of prince chengxin, prince chengxin do not favor him bec of the burn on his face and him being sickly. qi min is like viserys of game of thrones, he believes he is the true king as he is the next in line, qi min is pretty much the same but smarter, using people around him to get what he wants, and planned well to get the throne. i very much love that xie zheng and changyu had time to smooth things out and say exactly what they want to say, changyu hearing xie zheng that for him his time at lin'an was his happiest and that he wanted to go back, she found the yan zheng she loved bec after knowing he is not yan zheng but xie zheng the marquis wuan she felt like she lost yan zheng, so their whole scene by the river is just too precious to me.

Some of these episodes coming up have post episode scenes! And some are funny. Also, Yan Zheng and Grand tutor tao yi, play in another tv series as grandfather and grandson, where he plays as a Chinese medicine insomnia doctor, its call "The Best Thing". Pretty soon here you're going to start getting a lot more of what actually happened as well in the show.

Doesn't make sense , He was only trying to protect her, how? b Changyu doesn't know that Yan Zheng is actually the Marquis of Wu'an. She thinks her husband is a former escort who is decent at fighting but gets injured all the time. From her point of view, he's about to go back into battle while still wounded. Of course she's terrified he's going to die. If she had known from the beginning that Yan Zheng was actually the Marquis of Wu'an, a famous general whose reputation was known throughout the country, She won't have tried to replace him. Why would she? She would know that he is more than capable of handling himself. I completely understand why Xie Zheng hid his identity at first. He had enemies everywhere, didn't know who he could trust, and revealing that he was alive could have gotten him killed. But later? the original reason for the lie no longer really existed. The irony is that Xie Zheng's lie is what pushed her into making such a dangerous decision. Yes, drugging someone and sneaking onto a battlefield was crazy. But she didn't know she was drugging the commanding general. She thought she was taking one injured soldier out of danger and taking his place. So yes, Xie Zheng has every right to be angry about what she did. But Fan Changyu also has every right to be furious that she was making life-and-death decisions based on information he deliberately kept from her. Then the kiss Changyu is standing there angry because she has just discovered that the man she loves has been lying to her for all this time. She is confronting him. And instead of answering properly, he tries to kiss her. Why? We're in the middle of an adult conversation. We're discussing trust and deception. We're discussing a lie that has lasted for months. Answer the questions first. Then we can discuss romance later. If I were Changyu, that kiss would have annoyed me even more. It felt less like communication and more like an attempt to distract her emotionally so the actual conversation wouldn't have to happen. No sir. You don't get to lie to me for months, avoid telling me the truth during the fifty different opportunities (all those late night tending to your wounds you couldnt pick 1) you had to tell me, and then try to solve the problem with a kiss. Finish the conversation first.
