What grandmother said was the honest truth, she didn't want to sugarcoat it and lie to Shiyuan. Shiyuan decided to stay and sacrificed his opportunity to realize his ambition for the love of his family, also probably because of the hatred for his father Chen Pang after learning the truth about what he did to his mother. I think over time, you will grow to like Wei Shao. He is my favorite character in this show.

Loved your reaction. And he is dumb in terms of romance... but its reallyy enjoyable and so are the upcoming episodes.

I guarantee you will cry at least once during this show!! lol.

I agree. Grandma wants to lay the truth in front of Shiyuan and let him makes his own decision, especially since everyone knows that the Lord of Bian is very ill and probably dying without an heir. If that happens, Chen Pang will comes to power, making Shiyuan the Lord of Bian after he passes. That's a huge opportunity he would be giving up to stay with the Wei. She loves him and doesn't want to deceive him.

Its not thats he's being a sob he's just clueless and has not a romantic bone in that tall ass body. He is completely missing her queues poor thing! 😂😁He also has no experience in this department whats so ever! 🥹😂

Agreed. Also, he's been lied to his entire life about his identity. It would not have been wise to add other lies to that moving forward. Grandma is savvy. She feels incredibly guilty and loves him very much but she also knows lying and manipulating him will not lead to a good ending.

Wei Shao being oblivious to any hints of flirtation is a running gag. He's truly that pure and inexperienced despite being a ruthless warlord. The opposite of his philandering cousin. He's crazy in love with her himself and madly attracted (although still conflicted) but he just can't fathom that she would have feelings for him too, much less try to openly flirt with him. He's not being intentionally mean or aloof.

Filial duty is so very important in China. Unless you parents eat small babies or torture you, you can never ever as a good person turn against them, and even then you'll barely have a child turn against their parents or grandparents. Its considered the worse to disobey or disappoint your parents. Partly that's culture but also that CCP rules for a show not to be censored, like literally your father has to be murdering babies for fun, or murder your mother for any actual criticism of a crap parent by a character. You'll rarely see anyone rebellious against their parents in cdramas, its literally a villain origin story to do so.

I was talking about it another comment but since I didn’t want to spoil, I couldn’t say my thoughts clearly. About the peony of Lady YuLou. They talk about the fate of a ruler because she has it. When I watched it I was so confused, like “can’t anyone just paint it, why is hers so special?”. But that’s because people genuinely think she was born with it. Hence why the cousin is so shocked when she erased it. Nobody knows it’s fake. But I think from the audience it’s too obvious, which makes it really confusing as why people treat her like that. They should have made it look more like a birthmark. Or maybe they wanted us to know right away that it was bs….

For me, Wei Shao isn’t an SOB when it comes to the cute interactions with Man Man, it’s just that he’s so slow on picking up what she is putting down 😂😂😂 I think that’s what makes him comes off silly and cute!

I take it you've never had to eat hard tack? It is literally so dry that if you knock two pieces together it makes a clacking sound. It's designed to last for years, providing it doesn't get attacked by bugs or something. https://youtu.be/T3VmehJ6Vn0?si=rlh1poL7YrWXi0OK
