this was my number one historical/costume drama before pursuit of jade and that is how much i love both of them, and i very much agree with you, with pursuit of jade it’s seeing their love grow vs enemies to lovers probably why i like POJ more bec there were some moments i was ready to just choke wei shao but the i still have so much love for this show and I very much love the execution of the enemies to lovers transition bec not very many can nail this trope. thank you so much for reacting to this show, I have enjoyed watching your reactions!! cannot wait for you to watch more cdramas ☺️

Time stamp : 8:35. 😂Its not because he beat their a**, or they would have helped before. That scene is important. Don’t forget that the first time he asked his father to let him go save Wei, his father refused and instead sent him to the border. The troops there didn’t defy the emperor and follow him then, because they didn’t know him yet (They no longer underestimated him but that's it) and hadn’t experienced his leadership. Months later, after fighting alongside him(Boarder skirmishes and battles) , living with him, and seeing him lead firsthand, they had built bonds with him and genuinely respected him as a leader. So they’re willing to defy the emperor and follow him now. If beating their a** were enough, they would’ve followed him the first time. That why that scene is important. And this actually ties into a recurring concern in Chinese historical dramas: emperors are always wary of giving border generals too much power because soldiers can become more loyal to the general they fight alongside than to the emperor. That’s why I think this scene is also meant to show us that he must have been a genuinely good leader. These are men who experienced his leadership for months and are now willing to risk defying imperial orders because of the loyalty he earned from them.

POJ and this show are my top 2 cdramas of the last few years. So happy to rewatch them though your eyes. In my opinion, the only show that can beat in it terms of story telling and pacing is Nirvana In Fire.

villain deaths were not nearly satisfying enough for me, way too quick. i wanted them to suffer more or at least been shamed in front of everyone smh. finale felt rushed which i said in last ep. and for her to just take her own life, eh. i def liked jade better. but really did enjoy this main couple once they began to trust each other, green flags always between them and it was a joy to see would coulda been drama moments not be because of their maturity, trust, respect and communication. def couple goals.

can i just say thank you so much for opening yourself up to cdrama recs. bc of that we were able to get 2 amazing poj and pob reactions. i highly enjoyed watching along with you and your yapping sessions lol. i appreciate you actually investing yourself into the story and immersing in it, taking the time to recognize and learn the new cdrama world. you actually remember the character names, faces and the plot that is going on and make an effort to go back and understand again if you don't get smth instead of just doing a half baked reaction for the sake of watching. i really really appreciate that bc surprisingly not everyone puts so much effort into actually reacting/reviewing cdramas bc its too much work. I've come across some reactors who sadly don't even do bare minimum and that has made me appreciate your channel way more. I'm excited for more cdrama to come and hope you can enjoy it with us.
