Nanahoshis VA absolutely killed it

Liam Jones

I thought she arrived when the mass teleportation happened? She said to Slyphy it was probably her fault that it happened as in it was caused by her arrival.

Capt'n Ren

The problem is Nanahoshi has zero mana. It seems every living thing in this world has and needs enough mana to prevent this disease from killing them. A cure would likely be some way of giving her body it's own mana maybe?

Liam Jones

Yeah either that or something that a) absorbs the mana out of her or b) breaks down the mana in her

Capt'n Ren

We are talking about close to 10 years and while the poster looks like an older Kishirika, Rudy probably only vaguely remembers what she looks like since they met all of 5 minutes.

Capt'n Ren

The issue I see with those solutions is that it seems to attack specifically anyone without enough mana. So absorbing or breaking down any mana in her that came from outside sources may not help. Since that would still leave her without any mana of her own and what seems to cause the disease in the first place is that lacking.

Capt'n Ren

She did. So if she has been there 8 years then Rudy is now 18, since he had just turned 10 when the mass teleportation took place.

K-PopHunter

Between Subaru & Nanahoshi, who do you think is the most tragic summoned otherworlder?

Liam Jones

They said that the disease is caused by the inability to break down mana though no? Or am I just hallucinating that lol

Capt'n Ren

Nah. I may have not fully understood it. I think that does contribute to the issue. So yeah maybe if she had one way to remove any mana from effecting her too she would be ok. But then she wouldn't be able to be healed again. Which means if she gets sick again she may die either way then.

I mean Perugius ain't called THE expert on Summoning magic for no reason. He's got top-tier skill at summoning SSS-tier familiars ig... "Do shit yourself" just obviously means that God HATES LAZYASS PEOPLE, simple as. TBF I think it's cuz nobody believes she's the Demon Empress, since she doesn't look like her wanted poster... no wonder mfs haven't found her after a year...

Skebaba

I presume Dryne Syndrome is something caused by demons? Since it's eradication 7k years ago correlates with the FIRST Human-Demon War. If you look at MAzoku, it literally means "magic people" (just like how "maou" means "magic king/lord". Hence why maou etc are rarely demonic whatsoever, design etc wise, as you can see in countless fantasy IPs. They're generally always basically just humans w/ magic out the ass & superior lifespans & maybe other stats too). Kinda sus correlation to me, especially when they outright state that before this 7000 years ago, mfs had far less mana than they now have, which was the key to eradicating Dryne Syndrome 🤔

Jeff

The scripture is more saying if you want to help someone do it yourself, don't rely on others to do it for you. It still holds that strong should help the weak. Funny enough, Perugius is basically saying that great power does not mean great responsibility.

I was really impressed with how much Rudeus has emotionally grown by this episode. When Nanahoshi was having her crashout (completely valid), he just stood there and took it because she is literally at her breaking point. When Perugius refused to risk worsening his position to save Nanahoshi (completely valid), despite the fact he didn't want to see her go through this, Rudeus didn't accuse him of not caring; he himself set up the foundations of a plan based on knowledge he himself had previously gathered and only asked Perugius to lend aid to allow him to be the one to act. And this is all because Rudeus now has his own things he desperately doesn't want to lose, so for the first time in his two lives, he can actually relate to others that don't want to lose what they have - family actually means something to him now. And to tie this to Re:Zero for a moment, if you remember back in S2 during the fight with Garfiel when Subaru shattered his gate, it's a good thing he made that contract with Beatrice at the end of S2, or his future could have looked A LOT like Nanahoshi's. Since he shattered his gate, he can no longer regulate the mana within him any longer, meaning it just pools up in him. Because of the contract with Beatrice, she siphons off the mana his body accumulates to use to continue to exist in that world, acting as his regulator. If not for that... he would get very sick.

Capt'n Ren

Eh. What they said made it sound like Dryne Syndrome was an issue that effected everyone prior to the war.

@36:20 I know we usually clown on Joe for not remembering names but he was really close this time, i put what he thought his name was on google and it did say "you're probably thinking of Nokopara" lol
