One of things I've taken away from Arakawa writing Fullmetal is that everything had a very solid pay off at the end, so I'm hoping that is what is delivered for Daemons (but I also know it isn't fair to compare the two). When FMAB came out, I had the luxury of watching the show in its entirety rather than waiting week to week, or even season to season, so it would be interesting once this show finishes (and I hope for the love of god it gets a full series treatment) to watch everything back to back and see if my views change. For right now, I agree with you in your scoring with having watched it week-by-week. On the other hand, when I read the manga up to chapter 50 back to back, I felt much more satisfied in the pacing and the up-and-down moments.

If it's anything like Fullmetal Alchemist, how it's viewed will heavily rely on its conclusion. As someone else mentioned, Arakawa is very much about the payoff, and likely has the entire story planned out from the beginning. For me, just the character interactions during the downtime was enough to keep me in high spirits. Easily a 9 for me, there just ain't anyone that does it quite like her. Now to rewatch in dub.
