At first I also thought it would be more serious show, but when the goofy shit started happening, I juest went with it, maybe not the best show, but I had a lot of fun during it. And like you said, beautiful, not even animation, the backgrounds are crazy good, easly the best we had in this year

Definitely agree with wanting it to be a more serious show and I believe it had a lot of potential with the concept and I adored the relationship between Inako and Kihachi (wish it was explored a bit more), but good lord it definitely had wild turns. I also can't deny I was entertained, but not for the reasons I wanted to be. I was laughing my ass off when Yosuke was falling and hitting all those objects slowly on the way down.

I liked the show, and I do agree that the show likes to teeter between being serious and being silly. For a Kyoani series, its animation is undeniably magnificent, the art is beautiful, and the music is immaculate. However, the direction/execution of the plot is certainly weaker than most Kyoani shows, that I have seen recently. The show overall felt incomplete by the end, yet also seemingly conclusive. The supporting characters lacked a bit of depth, not going beyond their primary roles/gimmicks, with the exception of Kengo and maybe Noriko. The goals of the main characters came with massive shifts overtime, while the majority of the show's screentime is dedicated in dawdling between losing the catalog and forcibly getting betrothed. In the end, the show was certainly funny with many unhinged moments between Kihachi and Yousuke, so at least it was entertaining until the end. I'd give Sparks of Tomorrow a 7/10, Not bad by any means, but rather lukewarm compared to other Kyoani series and its Summer 2026 contemporaries.
