Comments

Scott Dillon

None at this time, thank you

John

What snack or fast food item from childhood that no longer exists do you miss most?

Owen Burr

What is your favorite cup/mug? I love drinking out of my Christmas mug year round! Cheers from Seattle!

Jessica Rodriguez

If you could do a power hour with one specific frozen food item what would it be?

Andrew Pagano

What is your opinion on the “evolution” of Burger King fries? They were fine in the 90s, then they got horrible, then even more horrible and breadier, then slightly less horrible, and now they’re pretty damn good.

Octavis Witcher

which scared you more doing Hollywood handbook or having the boys on the show

Christina Kim

Nick, I've noticed you follow a lot of the same cute fluffy dog accounts as I do on instagram. Why don't you have a dog? (Especially in these pandemmy times)

Tysen Allumbaugh

During the pandemic, I’ve made jam, pickles, bread and other things for the first time. Have you guys cooked or baked anything for the first time? If so, what has been your favorite?

Sam Wotherspoon

Is there a meal or food item that you think benefits from being “ungapatchka”?

billy

What's up Dough Fam! This question is for everyone, but inspired by Wiger's "no meat" rule for this year. What's your favorite meat substitute? This can be tofus, tempeh, veggie burgers, etc. What's the best "plant-based" burger you've had?

Stan Waisath

What are your top caffeine drinks? Your Mountbuzzmore?

Kyle Baker

How are y'all handling winter/COVID depression atm?

Curtis Kimberlin

Hey Doughboys! Pizza the Hut from Spaceballs is a humanoid/pizza hybrid. If you had to split your DNA with a food item, what food item would you split it with?

Luke Mckay

Hello from down under. If you could only eat foods that start with one letter of the alphabet, which letter would you choose? (I'd go with P. Pizza, peanut butter, pancakes, potato chips, porterhouse, parmigana etc). Thanks!

Alex Rodriguez

Whats your go-to recipe for a dinner date or dinner party? Also, top “Big Game” food?

Earthbound books

What is something you did in your childhood that you can remember being proud of? Paper mache art project for school, or a lego tower, etc?

Nick Sekerak

If you could eat at any fictional restaurant, what restaurant and what would you order? My wife asked this question in the hand holding club and it was pretty popular. Thanks!

Jeffrey DelDona

Would The Doughboys consider adding a segment in which they discuss and rate restaurant ordering apps and call it “app or crap”?

Michael Mattson

What was the last restaurant you dined in at before lockdown?

Cory L

What’s the wildest thing you’ve seen in a restaurant? I once saw a guy almost choke to death on a mozzarella stick. He was pulling strands of melted cheese from his throat like a magician pulling scarves out of their mouth.

Fashionably Unhappy

Mitch! With your open love of ASMR, might we someday get a Double that's you and Wiger doing your own? I'll have a better question next time. Love you all, Slice Nation for life

Valerie Capone

Hey guys! It’s Valerie from Long Island! My question is if you were trapped on a dessert island and had to bring your favorite breakfast, lunch and dinner from any chain in order to survive the next 24 hours what would you bring and why? Hope everyone is well! Also Mitch are you going to be featuring any cats for adoption any time soon? Can’t wait to see you guys live someday!

Ryan Gillespie

Do you miss doing the show physically together in Palmerston? Do you think you'll go back to physical meetings when it's safe?

Kevin Noonan

Hey Doughboys! Which restaurant did the best job of winning you over with shitty gimmicks as a kid? I would only ever want to go to Friendly’s because they gave you crayons and a placemat to color, as well as a crazy twisty straw that changed colors. Thanks! Love the show!

Samuel Dustin

What is your favorite dipping sauce (of non human origin Mr. Wiger) and why is it Sweet Baby Ray’s bbq? Hot sauce can be included as well. I’m talking fry/tot/nug/burger/overall enhancement of your pleasure experience.

Adam Chimeo

If you could go back in time and stop any fast food chain from being born, which would you choose and how would you do it? Ps The Last Jedi blows harder than In N Out fries. Love the pod!

Ivan Schmidt

I just listened to the episode where Nick talk about wanting to work at Costco. Night Spoon, if you weren’t working in show business, what kind of gig would you be working? And yes, the Magic Mike review still counts as show business.

Brian Fastner

What is the first restaurant you want to dine in at once its finally safe to do so again?

Allison Borisek

I had just emailed this but, now that the orange buffoon is out of the office, and President Biden has removed his Diet Coke button from the Oval Office, I have a question! If there was a button on your remote that you could press that brings 1 food OR drink item to you automatically for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Ben Tomassetti

Hey doughfam! Seeing as you have a food based podcast, do you watch or have any favorite food TV shows (i.e. Top Chef, Chopped, GBBS, Good Eats, etc)? Also, I’m from CT, so hearing a whole segment on New Haven pizza a while back was music to my ears. Thanks!! -Ben Tomassetti (a pissed off eye-talian)

punk bong

Remember astronaut ice cream? What's the grossest food that could be freeze-dried for long-term preservation on a space trip?

Noah Wright

What food do the boys think they could beat the other in eating the most of in one sitting?

David (Lumpy Larper) G

What do you think animated pizza tastes like? I always thought Ninja Turtles pizza looked better than real pizza.

2econdbreakfast

With it being Super Bowl season, I was curious if you've seen people make snack displays for parties that look like football stadiums, and what other buildings or structures you think would work for snack food party displays?

Not_a_gov_contractor

Nick, with your recent vegetarianism have you found any home recipes that mimic meat enough for you to eat that and crave that over regular meat? Mine is marinated Tempeh is much better than bacon and you can eat more of it without feeling like ass. Also if you have found a vegetarian recipe you'd recommend to Mitch to try and convert him.

Corey Vaughan

I've had the "Now Pringles a-pizza-licious!!" jingle in my head for 20 years, showing up every time I eat a Pringle or a pizza. Are there any food jingles from your childhood that just won't quit? Not necessarily your favorite; I'm interested in the ear worms here.

Andrew Pagano

When will Jaleel White be on to discuss chili dogs?

Matthew G

I have never eaten at these 3 chains: 1. Chick-Fil-A 2. Five Guys 3. Panda Express I will immediately get takeout from the one that you choose for me, and I promise that I will never eat food from the two losers. Help me Mitch, Wiges, Emma & Yusong, you’re my only hope.

Chad Silbert

What is the perfect snack to eat while lounging in bed? I've found a soft pretzel to be ideal (no crumbs, easy to handle, not too greasy). Thoughts?

Shannon Alexander

My friend used to always put cheese on the Spicy Chicken Sandwich at Wendy's so I started doing it. Then I realized its not actually good. A) Have you had cheese on a Spicy Chicken Sandwich and did you like it? B) Have you experienced any other recommended modifications that actually make the meal worse?

Joe Hinkle

With all the talk of pizza flavored things in the Combos episode, which fast food item would you like to see be turned into a flavoring, akin to TGIFriday’s potato skin chips.

Kathryn Evans

I'm sure you are all good people and generous tippers, but have you ever had a meal or dining experience that was so bad it made you leave without tipping?

Robert Logan

*through tears* "and here's a little drop..." *kicks out chair* "..."

Elizabeth

Are there any snacks/foods you guys "rediscover" every once in a while that live outside of your normal rotation? For example, I remembered this week that I really like mandarin oranges, so I've been eating multiple mandarins a day, but I probably won't touch them again for another year.

Alex

Once at Blaze Pizza I tried to order a half and half pizza. One half pesto, the other half BBQ. When it came to the table, they had forgotten to put the pesto and BBQ sauce drizzle on it so I went back to have them add it. They then proceeded to put pesto and BBQ sauce drizzles over both halves of the pizza. It was disgusting, but I figured I was to blame for picking such a terrible combination to begin with. Have you ever messed up an order by over complicating it? Should pizza places ever say no to half and half combos like I ordered?

Seamus Doyle

If you could fill up a pool with a massive quantity of one food, what would be the most pleasant/interesting food to swim through? I think the go-to is jello or pudding but I would be more interested in swimming through tzatziki or orange juice.

Aaron Studham

I once asked a date what her "mount potato-more" was when talking about favorite foods. Obviously there wasn't a second date (thanks doughboys). Do the 'boys have any food related ruined dates?

Kiernan Doyle

I was reminiscing about the McDonald's Monolpoly game when brought up in a recent episode and was curious if you had any other favorite promo games from other times? Only other one that came to mind was the Taco Bell Star Wars Episode 1 promo to collect the medallions

Jake from MI

With the state of steak and shake, I don't think they are in the position to be giving things away but from their app, you can get free fries every day. What do you guys think of this and are there any other insane deals or offers you've seen?

Jeremy

Given the success (and failure) of "eatertainment" like Chuck E Cheese and Dave and Busters, is there a a concept for a new restaurant type that you would like to envision for the future? Also, have you ever considered that life is meaningless and nothing matters?

Moira

There has been a lot of ‘eat the rich’ talk; which rich person/celebrity would you all eat and why? Love you all!

Russ Woog

Hey Doughboys + Emma and Yusong, what is the your favorite new dish that you’ve learned to make during quarantine? I recently learned to cook a one dish - broccoli, zucchini noodles and Mahi Mahi dish in a cast iron skillet all because I ran out of healthy new meals I could think of while at the store

Peter Stowe

Hi doughfamily! One of my greatest fears is realizing that I'm dating a bad burrito orderer, someone who orders slowly and out of order. For example ordering guac and salsa before rice and beans are even discussed. Do any of you share this fear or have any other ordering pet peeves?

Albert Corado

We all know that In N Out gets dragged by some people for having "bad fries" while I tend to disagree with that I do believe that animal style is the best iteration of their fries. My question is which other burger chain's fries would best lend themselves to the "animal style" treatment.

TJ Beaton

I always loved the scene in the 1991 Robin Williams movie Hook where Peter and Rufio insult one another and a food fight begins when Peter starts believing that it's real. The food looks delicious and the scene looked like so much fun to shoot as a food fight. What are other foods (fantasy or otherwise) you've wished you could eat from movies, video games, or books?

Bryan Gerace

If you could give just one snack to a complete stranger to try what would it be? Like a “hey you gotta try this!”

Alex Staniloff

What's the first thing you're going to do after get vaccinated?

Sean Schafranek

Fuck marry kill Grimace, Tack bell chihuahua, And Jack from Jack in the box

Jef Etters

If you could get a signature item from one chain, done by a different chain, what would it be? For example, a Big Mac but made by Wendys.

Ryan

Eating takeout with silverware from home feels weird to me. For example if I bring home a Chipotle bowl and eat it with a metal fork rather than the plastic fork from Chipotle, it weirds me out. Other examples would be wonton soup with a metal spoon at home or even worse, Sushi without chopsticks. in the same vein, what fast-food locations do you think provide the best utensils, and what's your idea for ways take out chains can be better at minimizing waste.

Bradley Linnemeyer

What would a Doughboys themed Pop-up have on the menu? Any fun ideas for decorating it?

Jeremy

If you could rebrand any food with a motto, what would it be?

The_Melkman

As a native St Louisan I love our trashy, cracker-crust pizza, but defending this controversial cusine is not a hill I want to die on. Are there any local dishes you grew up with and absolutely love, but can't defend to outsiders?

John Overby

Who are your all-time favorite athletes that weren’t on teams that you rooted for, and who are your favorite role players on teams that you did root for?

Peter WG

If you had to be vegan for health reasons but once a year were allowed a cheat meal from any fast food chain of your choice, where would you go and what would you have?

Ben Topf

Howdy Ho from Denver! I've spent some time traveling around the world, living in a few countries and have been fortunate to try food in different environments. The roadside "truck stops" in India have the best home cooked meals and tea. Pho in Hanoi on a gray morning is the best way to start a day. Do you have a particular meal that brings you right back to a moment in time where the world stood still and you remember every detail about that moment? Thanks! The Slice is Nice!

Jeremy

Is there a food from a childhood you loved but can't bring yourself to eat today? Also have you considered that childhood was the only time in your life you were truly happy? Thanks!

QUENTIN HIRSLEY

What is your favorite way to enjoy Bacon..or for Wiger, what was your favorite way. Thanks for everything, guys.

Rob Roan

Will we ever get a Doughgirls spinoff episode featuring Emma? Girls rule. Boys drool.

Bradley Linnemeyer

Which Fast Food Mascot's fictional wedding would you most want to attend. They don't have to be getting married to another fast food mascot. I just want to know, who you think would throw the best wedding...food....music....dj...event space....

Jeremy

I cook every meal in our house, breakfast lunch and dinner. Recently I've been making Instapot chicken Biryani. Sometimes I get bored making the same food over and over again. What are your go-to home recipes that I can steal and actually watch my family find joy for once?

Christian Fuchs

What change to a restaurants food items do you guys think was the worst/best decision made by the establishment? One example being McDonald's transition from beef tallow to vegetable oil. Shout out to the doughboys running club! Get in there mitch!

Matt Paul

Did Nick ever get his refund for his order from that nonexistent Dennys?

Michael, Ben and Caroline

Hey y’all, it’s Michael from Mobile, Alabama. My fiancé/girlfriend/baby mama of 10 years just took my kids and loaded up a Uhaul with our whole life and left me almost a month ago. Since then, each day I skip breakfast, eat a steak/rice/bean bowl with vegetables and guacamole from Moe’s for lunch, and (sometimes) eat a miniature Torino’s party pizza that I cook in my oven before I go to sleep. Also I drink about a six pack of IPA’s and take 2-3 shots of Tequila when I get home from work at 5 every day. My question is, what are some foods that you have eaten consecutively for more than a week just out of pure comfort? Also, what are some foods you have eaten in the past when you’re having a tough time with life? Emma, Yusong, Wiger and Mitch have been one of the only things I’ve been able to laugh at in this past month and it truly helps me stay sane to listen to y’all. Thanks a lot. Happy eating❤️

Drew VanRanden

Hello Wigey, Mr. Slice, Emma and Yusong. Long time first time. For Mitch and Wiger....What’s the first thing you’d do if you guys “freaky Friday’d” ? Yusong did nothing wrong. #BurgerBrigade

Christine

Like frequent guests Bill Clinton and Barack Obama, will the Doughboys commit to taking the covid vaccine publicly to prove its safety to the nation? (If so, you'd better start planning soon since Wiger is in a priority age group)

Shawn Lyons

How do you feel about buying branded restaurant condiments and sauces to use at home? For example I recently ordered Whattaburger spicy ketchup and have been enjoying it with oven fries. I also have a bottle of the Taco Bell chipotle sauce, for use in home-made spicy potato soft tacos. The only downside is the price, there's quite a markup! So I have been using them sparingly. PS - Hi "The slice", greetings from a fellow MA resident (from Ashland). Also Hi to Wiger, Ema, and guest(?)

Paul Brown

In Scotland we’ve just celebrated Burns night where we celebrate the poetry and song of our National Bard by getting hammered on whisky, eating animal entrails mixed with barley encased with intestines and ...did I mention the drinking bit? Well my question I suppose is; is there something you wouldn’t put in your mouth, drunk or not? (Maybe another regional delicacy? 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🥃

James Callahan

Mitch, now that football season has finally ended my girlfriend is very thankful to have the tv way more free'd up. However as we are both big Doughboy fans we were amused this season at how all over the place you were with the referee commercial. Have you had any funny interactions or run ins with the (non #SpoonNation) general public after being in such a national ad campaign like that? Explaining to my parents on Thanksgiving I listened to the food podcast of the referee was extremely embarrassing.

Colin Studer

What would be your Fast food all star line up? National chains only. -Burger -Sandwich -Fries -Non-fry side -dessert

Josh

Can Mr. Slice share his pizza recipe with all of us? Also, does Wiger have a signature recipe that he can share with us? (What would Nicks nickname be if he does)

Paul Ditty

After last week’s episode on Subway, it reminded me of a two fairly recent stories on the quality of their ingredients: Ireland doesn’t recognize Subway bread as bread, due to its sugar content, and more recently, they reached a deal on a lawsuit that claims their tuna contains no tuna. Are there any other meals that you think might also be fake?

Jake from MI

Is there anything that you order as is, with plans to alter it yourself? Ill order a normal big mac but take out the middle bun. The Mac sauce is always too heavy (especially on the middle bun) but I just order it normal and pull the middle bun to equalize things.

Shawn Lyons
>>52850185

Oven fries, hot salad, "The Slice's bar pizza", oh there so many good options lol

Joe
>>52851104

Didn’t it come out several years ago that subway’s “chicken” is almost entirely soy?

Jackson Wright

If you could have a meal with three characters from The Sopranos (not the actors, but the characters they played), which ones would you dine with?

Severin Martinez

If "Mr. Slice" were a mascot to a pizza chain, which chain would it be and would he be an anthropomorphized talking slice of pizza? A cheeky pizza delivery guy? Something else? #Burgerbrigade

Miriam

Create and name a doughboys ice cream flavor!

Lj Holle

What would be your top 5 favorite fast food mascots/commercial runs? For example the Taco Bell dog, Ronald McDonald, Jack, etc.

Tyler Lorenz

Hi DoughFamily, Despite enjoying the flavor, I fucking hate ranch dressing. Growing up, I thought it smelled funky, I didn’t like that it was a dippin’ sauce that also functioned as a cold gravy for your salad, and it was a sauce that always ended up in the corners of that one nasty kid’s mouth (you know, the one with Cheetos dust on his fingers, who never learned to close his mouth when he chewed). Later, in college, I got a job working the salad bar at a cafe attached to a call center, and boy, you wouldn’t believe the fucking fits people would throw when we ran out of the buttermilk ranch. And believe me, I was refilling gallons upon gallons of that goo every single day. Our kitchen manager even told me to portion out refills during the day, because it wasn’t in our budget to spend more money on ranch dressing that people were getting off the bar for free. I had a woman call my boss on me, because I told her there was literally no more jugs of buttermilk ranch in the kitchen whatsoever, and she basically said be damned before she dipped her pizza in our low-fat ranch as an alternative. So, today, if there’s a side of ranch with my Outback Aussie Cheese Fries, I’ll indulge. But, anytime I hear someone order a side of ranch when it’s not specifically part of the menu item, I smile politely as 9000 degree flames shoot through my veins. And then I tell this story to the people around me, and no one likes hearing it as much as I like saying it. Are there any foods that trigger sudden hatred in you, whether you actually like them or not? Thanks, Love you!

Rafael Gaitan

Dear Doughboys (and Emma and the dearly departed Yusong), a common thread on the show has been regional chains that you're glad have not gone mainstream for fear of quality dipping. My question is the inverse- are there any local chains that you are glad to not see expanding because they're of bafflingly poor quality? Example: San Diego has Sombrero's which is beloved but really quite not great but it has an eternal mention in a Blink 182 song. Thanks, love the show!

Michael McGuire

When I was a wee lad growing up in the Boston area we’d vacation in the White Mountains in New Hampshire. For a while there was a chain restaurant there called The Road Kill Cafe, where the entire menu was indeed road kill themed. It was actually good food too. While I believe this chain no longer exists, what’s the most bizarre theme for a chain restaurant you guys have seen?

Josh H

Hi Doughboys, Friend of the show Bill Oakley has been posting McDonalds menu hacks lately (ordering tomatoes on a Big Mac to make it taste like an In n Out Double Double for example.) Which made me wonder if you guys had any favorite fast food menu hacks of your own? Thanks!

Grip Grand

If you could have any chain restaurant in your home, but it had to be a kiosk that served ONLY THREE ITEMS, as they appear on the publicly available menu, no substitutions—what kiosk would you install, and which three menu items would it serve?

Tim Lis

What that thang do?

Jason Dever

Hey Doughboys - Like me, I know you respect the hard work that service workers put in to the keep our favorite restaurants running. Is there a fast food chain you ever considered working for when you were younger, or one you'd be willing to work in now, just for fun or if your financial situation necessitated it?

Shannon Hughes

Hi boys, something strange happened to me recently. We were a Pizza Hut family growing up so I recently, after maybe a decade, tried some Pizza Hut pizza and I really disliked it. I think that my pizza tastes have evolved too far past the Hut I'm afraid. This is weird because I can usually enjoy both low and high brow foods equally. Has this ever happened to you guys with any type of food from your childhood? Thanks! -Ms. Bougie Slice

materhorn

What’s the last meal you cooked for a guest at your own place prior to quarantine? I know this doesn’t apply to Wiger since he refuses to allow friends to see how he truly lives. Follow up question ... what would Mitch make specifically for Wiger if he came over for dinner and vice versa? Pan pizza and take out orders are disqualified. Love you guys #CallMrSliceThatsMyNameThatNameAgainIsMisterSlice

Jay Enright

Hey Doughboys and Emma, Yusong, and Drop King! What is your ideal meal to eat with coworkers or in the workplace? My coworkers and I enjoy buying each other McDonald's breakfast in the mornings, and we also go out to a local steakhouse after work on occasion. Love you guys! Currently on my 3rd re-listen of all your episodes. Also, my 15 month old daughter's name is Emma (unrelated to the podcast), and she loves hearing her name when I have it on in the background. Thanks! Burger Brigade loyalist, Jay Enright.

Joshua Richmond

Hi guys, I was recently listening to your Domino's episode with Jamelle Bouie and you mentioned fellow Michigan based/originated items in Vernors and Kellogg's. I grew up in Battle Creek, Michigan where Kellogg's is still headquartered and Post cereals was founded. I remember many a morning when I was on my way to school, including my days at W.K. Kellogg Junior High, that I would smell the distinct smell of cereal being made in the air. Do you have any childhood memories like these? Specifically food smells that take you back to childhood?

CheeseburgerBae

2020 has made a lot of people reassess their life and work situation! I’m thinking about possibly doing a career change. Nick— how did you navigate your career change transition from gaming to writing.

ChrisBy

If the Doughboys (and Emma and Yusong) were going to open up their own barcade/pizza parlor/whatever, which arcade games would you get for the place?

Arod

Who's on your fast food Mount Mascot-moore? And is Dave Thomas a mascot for Wendy's? I say yes.

Thom van Tijn

What food do you think is better at less fancy restaurants?

conor woods

What's your all time favorite fast food dessert item? McFlurry? Frosty? Vanilla Cone?

William Stone

One time my family got food poisoning from Papa Johns. My dad called the location we got it from to yell at them and the smartass on the phone told him to leave the leftover crusts in a bag on the porch so they could test them for bacteria or whatever. Ever had a restaurant employee pull a fast one on you? Ever been #foodwinked ?

Bryan Koval

Since we've all been spending so much time indoors, is there a food item that automatically tastes better indoors vs. outdoors? I think hot dogs always taste better outside, whereas soups are an inside food.

John Fowler

During the past year I've begun what is now a pretty decently sized cookbook collection. Does anyone in the doughboys crew have a soft spot for these editions of epicurean essays? What are your favorites? And why are so many pages in Mitch's copy of The Joy of Cooking stuck together?

Sheila Foley

Since Mitch has been sharing so many meals with his mum while he’s home, any chance of getting a limited time segment hearing her thoughts on the meals? Can I suggest as a segment name: Mama Mitchell’s Meal Time Minute?

Aubriane Taylor

Hiya Doughfriends. As a single lady who lives alone, a lot of my meals are leftovers, since most recipes are meant for multiple people. I have a personal distaste for throwing food away, so I do my best to eat my leftovers. I've heard the segment The Leftovers, but what are your stances on non-fast food leftovers? Do you generally take food home from a meal out, and do you usually end up eating it? Do you tend to finish the produce that you buy or extra food that you make, or do you frequently find lost, forgotten foods in refrigerator drawers?

Jeremy

Is there a kitchen gadget you have come to love? I used to love things, I used to love a lot of things. Thanks for answering!

David

Specifically Wiger, have you heard of what we used to call the Stoner Burrito from Del Taco? It was a known secret item in my hometown and you could order it by name, I've also seen some Del Tacos in northern CA call it a Bold Burrito. Basically consists of your choice of the red or green burrito (red is better) and they put the white sauce from the chicken tacos in it and french fries. It's amazing you all should try if you haven't yet. Thank you!

Abe Mendoza

Hi, Doughboys and Emma, Yusong, and Drop King! Time to put on your marketing hats. You've mentioned that Cool Ranch Doritos are called "Cool American" Doritos in Europe. If you had to choose one "cool American", alive or dead, to star in a Cool American Doritos TV commercial in Europe, who would it be?

Michael

Since Emma and Mitch are from New England and will know what I'm talking about I'd like to get everyone's opinion about top-split hot dog buns. I find the ratio of bread to dog much better in the top-split bun and love that you can toast the side.

Blingtron

Do you put milk in the bowl before cereal or put the cereal in the bowl and pour milk over?

Rob Klein

I listened to the High & Mighty episode with Mr. Slice and found it kind of heartbreaking. How about doing a month of shows with healthy options at fast food restaurants? I think a lot of people would like to hear about how to eat healthy at the horrible restaurants that you usually eat at. -Rob

American Fantastic

I love Cincinnati Chili. I know it's polarizing, but I grew up 5 minutes from downtown Cincinnati so I didn't even realize people thought it was weird until I was older. I ate at Skyline Chili as much as other people eat at McDonald's or Wendy's. Anyway, I moved from Cincinnati to Louisville and stayed here. You can go to Skyline here, but there's hardly any of them. I've since cut out pork and beef, but unlike the Burger Boy, I still eat poultry. So I've learned how to make a turkey Cincinnati chili that tastes better than the Skyline I ate growing up. Are there any fast foods you learned to make on your own out of necessity or any other reason that you like better than the "real thing"? Thanks, Dough Fam!

Juicy J

Can Mr. Slice confirm where he was on January 6th?

Alex Verno

If you knew for a fact you were going to die choking to death on something you were eating, what would your ideal last bite be?

Jacob W.

Hi Doughboys! I have a question for Mitch: what kind of kitty litter do you use? We use Oxocat Less Mess litter, which comes in little packed sawdust pellets and supposedly doesn't get all over the apartment, but it also looks startlingly like food and I think I've caught our cat eating it a few times? Gross! Help! Love from Rochester, NY. Jake P.S. Thoughts on eating cat litter? No, right?

Marie Boobies and Ricky Dicks

Hello Doughboys and Crew, There has been a lot of talk on the podcast about millennials and their penchant for eating ass, but little mention of your own personal experiences. As a food review podcast, we just gotta know: Eating ass - Snack or wack? Big time snack over here. Thanks and love you all. - Marie and Ricky

aurorafloyd

Do you ever eat while reading books? I often find that reading makes me want to snack on something, and certain books make me hungry for different foods (reading Harry Potter makes me want to eat chocolate). Do you have any notable reading snacks?

Jared

A few years ago some friends and rode to all the Arby's in our city and mapped the route in the shape of the Arby's hat. Have you ever done any themed restaurant related activities ? Route: https://i.imgur.com/Zm3yvsW.png

You have been cursed by a wizard and can only eat one colour of food for the rest of your life. What colour do you choose

Danie Pratt

I actually first heard Doughboys when I saw you live at SF Sketchfest 2020 with The Sloppy Boys. Thanks for being a bright spot in 2020! Also a huge Birthday Boys fan (my husband and I BOTH surprised each other with 2 tickets to see at Sketchfest). Love all the boys! Do you have any grocery or restaurant foods that you love but were discontinued? My favorite restaurant treat that is no more would be the Chili’s chocolate milkshake from about 12 years ago. It was so thick and chocolatey with chocolate jimmies on top. Our waitress told us that they had a special commercial milkshake machine (kind of like the Wendy’s Frosty machine) but now it is just a blender with vanilla ice cream and chocolate syrup. :-/ One of my favorite grocery items that has gone the way of the dodo would be Lea & Perrins Sweet & Spicy Steak Sauce. Although Country Bob’s All Purpose Sauce is a pretty good substitute, but it is not as thick and has a bit of a kick to it. Thanks for all of the analysis and laughs! Danie K. Pratt Fort Myers, Florida

One time I found myself at a McDonalds at 2am in downtown Chicago where the biggest rat I've ever seen ran from the dining area directly towards the line. Chaos erupted, screaming patrons jumped on the counter, and an employee who had clearly dealt with this kind of situation before swiftly wound up a broomstick and struck the rat to its death for all to see. It almost made my QPC hard to enjoy. My question is: What's the most disgusting experience with vermin you've had at a restaurant or just in general?

David Tres

What is a previously believed, but now disproven food fact that you wish could have been true? For example: I wish that a glass of juice in the morning was actually healthy and not just a sugar bomb.

Hi Wiger, Mitch, Emma, (ghost of) Yusong, and Drop King, I haven't gone full-vegan after trying Veganuary last year, but I've dedicated at least lunch to be vegan. Breakfast is usually cereal/oatmeal/smoothie so vegan, and dinner has animal protein. My go to lunch is probably vegan variations of chili! I mix it up by using sweet potato, pinto beans, kidney beans, garbanzo, lentils, and lots of spices. What's your ideal vegan chili? Would you prefer to use fake meat? Or stick to beans as protein? Thanks! Michelle, originally a SoCal surfer girl, now a Londoner.

Andrew Smith

The federal government has gone through several versions of the food “triangle” and “plate” over the years, all of which aim to show the ideal balance in a diet between grains, fruits and vegetables, dairy products, etc. If you had to build your ownstructure of how to balance various fast food chains, what would be the breakdown? And what shape would that structure take?

mr_dumb_shit

Hi doughboys, Emma, and Yusong! I recently have fallen in love with White Castle's frozen sliders that are available at grocery stores, despite never having been to a White Castle in person. If you could have any fast food item available in the freezer section of your local green grocer, what would you choose? P.s. Yusong did do something wrong.

Donald E Claxon

Hi Nick, Mitch, Emma and Yusong, Because of capitalism and consolidation, national chains don’t collaborate on menu items. What are some restaurant mashups that you might want to taste. I immediately thought of McDonald’s/Taco Bell coming together to dazzle us with the Big Mac Burrito or Wendy’s/Gordon Ramsay could delight us with a Spicy Chicken Wellington. Thanks for your many years content...it has proved to be valuable in pre-COVID traveling. Donald (not the orange buffoon) E. Claxon Minneapolis, MN

ShakeNBakey

Hello Dough crew, I am not sure if this question has been asked before but was wondering recently after getting fast food occasionally how everyone eats it at home. I've noticed depending on location I'll eat the food just using the provided packaging (like at Taco Bell just eating off the wrapper) but with others I always opt for a plate because sauces will be involved (for places with fries I will always take the fries out of their packaging and put them on a plate with ketchup). Do you have a plan of action for take home food in regards to plating or do you usually opt for eating from the provided container, wrapper, etc. Thanks!

Alex Jones

Can you comment on the band/musician storyline in Sopranos please? That is my favorite part, that guy sucks so bad. This is the band Adriana signs/manages with that creepy producer. Thanks!

Daniel Pope

What's the best thing you've ever eaten that wasn't food?

Wade Hampton

How many toppings are ungapatchka at a frozen yogurt bar? I often find myself cramming in too much candy

A Steak ‘n Shake just opened in Des Moines, IA and I waited 2 hrs and 40 minutes on opening day to get a meal (drive thru). For that first bite of an onion ring and sip of the vanilla shake, I think it was worth it. When I left the line was much longer so probably a 3-3 1/2 hr wait! What’s the longest you’ve waited for food and was it worth it? (P.S. The Iowa Steak ‘n Shake has a limited menu and limited vegetarian options. That was a bit of let down but I give it 4 forks.)

Alex Greenwood

Nick, Mitch, Emma, & Yusong, I can honestly say that Home Depot is one of my favorite restaurants. They have Vienna Beef hot dog stands in the exits where you can get a dog, a cold pop, and a bag of chips after checkout. Grew up eating these hot dogs on the weekends after Home Depot trips with my dad. Is this a Chicago thing? Do you have any fond memories of non-traditional “restaurants” from childhood or present day? Love, Alex G

TheReplayKid

Hi everyone! What food would you like to "gyro-ize"? What I mean is meat sliced off one of those vertical rotisseries, served on a pita. For example, you could gyro-ize chicken parm by putting meat with Italian seasoning on a pita and top it with red sauce and mozzarella. Wiger, I guess you'd have to gyro-ize eggplant parm for this example.

Josh MacLeod

All this talk of bar pizza has me thinking, has Mitch (or maybe Emma) ever had Rhode Island pizza strips? Native Rhode Islanders would kick my ass for saying this but they are kind of weird--almost like focaccia with red sauce but no cheese. They are ubiquitous down here in the Ocean State. Also, you should do some sort of Dunkin' and Honey Dew Donuts comparison/competition. Honey Dew is a MA regional chain basically the same as Dunkin' but better.

Donuts

Hello Dough Fam! What do you think Tony Soprano's McDonalds order would be?? Thanks to y'all I'm going on a wise guy movie binge!

mrfeeny24

Where will you go for your first post-COVID (assuming that ever happens) meal? We're talking in person dining, no mask, the works.

MJ

This came up briefly in a Feedbag ep, but preferred snacks for when you’re sad/depressed/anxious?

Joseph

What’s your take on eating/drinking while on the toilet? I find it disgusting, but apparently there’s people out there that are totally ok with this. Just wanted to thank you for the podcast, it’s been a difficult year, after cancer and the divorce and the amputation.

Ryan Whalen

My wife goes “Doughhh boys “ any time mitch’s commercial is on (which during a football Sunday can accumulate). Just wondering if Mitch had any back story in his mind as to who these two referees are and why they are and if they were conscious they would plague football Sunday’s?

andrew baumgartner

is there a (typically) plated meal which works better as a sandwich? and conversely, is there a type of sandwich which works better as a plated meal? for example, i always thought a chicken parm grinder is better than a plated chicken parm, while i prefer plated pulled pork more than a pulled pork sandwich. (burritos/bowls or tacos count in my mind here bc theres only so many examples of this type of thing)

Matthew Giles

Like Nick, I’m eating vegetarian this year. Also like Nick, I pay excessive attention to whether food gives me the rumblies. Since eating vegetarian, I’ve started imagining the high fibre food I eat travelling through my intestines and repairing the damage my previous diet caused, and making nice, compact little shits. My question is, has Nick’s (or anyone’s) diet change made them think differently about the impact of food on their body?

Paul Justin Hollingsworth

Hey Mitch, Nick Yusong and Emma! Is there a food from your childhood, that upon revisiting with an adult palette has not only met, but exceeded your expectations? For instance, Little Debbie Strawberry Shortcakes have been a recent highlight for me. After not having them in years, they're not only better than I remember but now rocketed to the top of my snack list. Thanks guys Love the show!

Luke Murray

Hey Nick, Mitch, Emma and Yusong! Growing up I was fortunate enough to love my mum’s cooking, yet I never really liked her spaghetti bolognese as I found the chunks of tomato to be too big. (I kept this to myself of course.) What did you think of your parents cooking when you were a kid, and was there ever a dish that you held a quiet distaste for? Luke from Dublin, Ireland.

Zeke Gonzalez

Have you ever went back to a fast food chain even after they gave you food poisoning? Sonic once gave me horrendous food poisoning, but I went back and continued to eat a year later bc I love the Chili Cheese Tater Tots and Cherry Limeade PS: Sonic is a 2.5 to 3 Fork Chain at best

Jonathan Jackson

Did Mitch ever finally dunk Wiger in the toilet?

Philip Leiter
>>52869019

I wouldn’t eat Taco Bell for years because of food poisoning but now it’s one of my favorite fast food restaurants. I still remember my order too. Two double decker tacos and a Mexican pizza. RIP Mexican pizza.

Sequoia Pinterits

Okay, fuck-marry-kill: Colonel Sanders, Jack Box, and The Burger King.

Jon Kim

What were some of your favorite Doughboys meal memories prepandemic?

Philip Leiter

Did Emma go to school for recording or is she self taught? I feel this may have been mentioned before but I can’t remember. The show has sounded great since she took over as engineer, even during the pandemic with everyone on Zoom.

Michael Levy

If there was gonna be a Doughboys Doughmobile, what kind of vehicle would it be, and who would drive?

Scott Lelli

Mr. Slice and Burger Boy, A chain here in the Pacific Northwest, Burgerville, has seasonal "fried asparagus". My wife loves them. Do you have any seasonal or unusual fast food sides you can think of? Scott from Tacoma, WA (Listen to all your podcasts while driving shipping container handling equipment at the Port of Tacoma)

Jess Bryan

Hey Dough Gang! What's your thoughts on restaurants that have soda dispensers that share one nozzle with all of the available fountain drinks? I miss the days when I could get a Pepsi or Coke that wasn't tainted by the taste of root beer or sprite. You all are great! I look forward to the next episode!

Britney Privett

Did Wiger ever get that refund from Denny’s corporate?

Reegs

What’s the best dough?

Pierce Bauer

If you could be shrunken down in a microscopic submarine and explore the inside of any food what would it be?

Mark Smith

I lived in America for college but now am back in my homeland of New Zealand, and while some things I loved from the US are available here, and others are even a better version of American things, the one food thing I miss the most (other than the lower prices in general) are Philly cheesesteaks. I am yet to find a decent one in NZ. Is there anything you used to enjoy getting but are unable to get anymore? Slice Nation stand up

Matthew Gingle

My roommate posited the question today- Unlike a cake, a standard lasagna is constructed from multiple layers in the repeating sequence: sauce>noodle>cheese>noodle>sauce and so on. However, how many repeating layers could still constitute single lasagna? Is an infinite lasagna possible, or would it get too big and have to be classified as multiple lasagnas stacked atop one another? Personally, I think this is nonsense, but my roommate was quite adamant, and I said I would get a 2nd opinion from The Experts. Here's to hoping you guys can settle this

Cole Mapstone

Hi first time long time. I got a question for Wigey: have you put any thought into what your first meal will be if you dip your toes back into carnivory?

Andrew Carlson

Greetings from North Dakota Doughboys, This is Rocketman701 from the Doughscord. I am a college cross country coach and have enjoyed the brief moments of running content on the podcast. Nick talking about running a marathon, Mitch talking about running away from a fight and accidentally getting in a car with the Milton crew. So my question is, if Nick and Mitch were to race eachother in a 5K, what would be their pre-race meal the night before the big race? Thanks for everything! #blotnikbrigade

Brian Glowienke

If you had to cast a sitcom using the typical sitcom tropes but only using fast food mascots who would you cast?

Jessica Tavarayan

This has probably already been asked but if you were on death row, what would be your last meal? This meal can be anything your murderous heart desires (home cooked and childhood meals, fast food, restaurants dishes that don’t exist anymore). Love you guys <3 You make this pandemic much more bearable! Thank you for your hard work :)

Diana
>>52878676

Dang. As a Philly native I feel for you. If you want to make one at home, its all in how you order the meat. Ideally you'd use a thin sliced ribeye. Any butcher should be willing to thin slice any steaks/roasts you buy there for you, though you may have to wait a bit. Then just season it, grill it, add your onions and cheese of choice, and build on a yummy roll :)

Diana

Hey everyone! With Valentine's Day around the corner, I've always thought the heart-shaped, chocolate box was overrated. If you were to receive a heart-shaped treat box from your Valentine, what variety of treats would you want it filled with?

John Lean

Hello from across the pond! Beyond whole meals, what’s the best snack ever depicted in film? For me, there’s a slice of buttered toast in the 2011 Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy that is perfect. Whenever it’s on television I will sit and watch until the slice of toast appears. Love you John

Stephen Wilson

Hey Doughboys, I’m an architect who has done some work in retail and restaurants over the years. (I almost got to work on a Taco Bell Cantina where I live, but the project fell through and the lease was never signed. It would have been the highlight of my career.) Which chains do you think have the best and worst restaurant designs? (Building Architecture and Interiors probably deserve separate categories.) You guys rock. Thanks to Emma for keeping the show running.

Dylan Slack

Hello everyone! shoutout Apodaca My wife Hannah wants to know what hometown favorites you all absolutely hate that everyone else loves and vice versa. Sausage (looks like fried pubes https://www.marionspiazza.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/content-img-new.jpg) and green olive pizza from Marion's Piazza in Dayton OH is her pick, mine is baby hutdogs with their mysterious orange/pink sauce (supposedly made from yesterday's unsold hutdogs ala Wendy's chili) from Hot Dog Ranch in Pittsfield MA, fucking disgusting. Thanks love the show!

Erik Kang

What is the best fast food deal you have encountered? Back in the '90s, when I went to NYU, there was a Subway shop a few blocks away from my dorm that had a 2 footlongs for $8 deal. This was 12 years before their $5 footlong ad promotion. That Subway location also had numerous awards on their wall for "Most Sales", but alas, it has closed down. Thanks for the laughs Guys!

Drake Cartrette

Hey Doughgang, What's a food that you've heard about and always wanted to try but haven't yet? A couple that came to mind for me was an In-N-Out Double Double and Mumbo sauce from D.C. I've also been thinking about following Mitch's lead and trying Goldbelly for a few food items if you have any regional food recommendations. Thanks!

Brolin Devine

Hey Doughboys, My brother-in-law is from Australia but we live in Canada, and he has always told me how bad KFC is in Canada. I think it tastes pretty gross too but remember loving it when I was a kid. I moved to New Zealand and Australia for a couple year (worked at Costco in Melbourne) and tried the KFC there and it was SO much better than in Canada. It tasted like I remember it tasting when I was a kid. Do you guys have any regional restaurants that you prefer in one state and hate in another? And also is this enough to convince Wiger to travel? Thanks, Brolin Devine

Brolin Devine

NZ is the only other country besides my country of Canada that had Pita Pit! I was surprised when I was there. Apparently a kiwi went to university in Ontario and lived pita pit so he made a deal to franchise it in NZ. Mark, time for you to open a cheesesteak chain!

Jake from MI

As best as I can remember, neither of you guys have ever mentioned Fazolis. Have you guys ever even heard of it? It's a decent change from normal fast food and is actually pretty good too.

Joel

I have a question for the Doughboys and Yusong. With the Super Bowl coming up, I finally realized I'm not a huge traditional sports fan, having no interest in football or basketball. However, I'm a big LoL fan and watch LCS and LEC. Yusong, do you watch pro LoL and if so, who do you root for? I'm a 100 Thieves and Schalke 04 fan (both middle of the road teams.) Doughboys, what is the most important food to be at a sports viewing session? Gotta love jalapeno poppers!

Joel
>>52899054

I'm an architect as well and would love to hear what they say. I haven't touched restaurant design but a good friend of mine has worked on Panera, Chik-Fila, and Outback Steakhouse.

Jacob Prante

I know y’all probably have your theme for this year’s Munch Madness planned out already, but hypothetically, who do you think would make the final four in terms of vegetarian-friendly restaurants, or if you are already considering that route then who do you think would make the final four if instead the theme were restaurants that specialize in international cuisine (or anything that is not overly-Americanized like pizza, burgers, chicken sandwiches, etc.)? Thanks for the great show! Love you all!

Jacob Prante
>>52878676

As another Philly native, I can say that you should definitely just follow Diana’s instructions for the best quality. However, you could cut corners and get a frozen brand to approximate it. Personally, I was raised on Steak-umm Sliced Steaks, which scratch that itch better than any other frozen version I’ve had. Doubtful they sell it in NZ though, so unless you can find those then you’re best bet is to just take Diana’s advice. Also, out of curiosity, what was the thing you missed most about NZ food while you were in the US?

Jacob Prante

As of a couple weeks ago, it was confirmed by the Drop King that he has not gotten the refund yet.

Honestly, it would be amazing if Nick had to call Denny’s on this mailbag episode to get the refund. Can we make this happen?

Have any of your past guests reached out to you about IMDB having podcast credits now? For example, Susser has a "written by" credit for "It's a Wigerful Life" right next to his credit for Brooklyn Nine-Nine.

David Taylor

Why did Nick add “sources for this week’s intro are in the episode description” to the end of every ep? Is there a story behind it or is he just a thorough boy?

Has Mitch made hummus? P.S. We believe in you, Mitch. You can make hummus!

Hello DB fam, I’ve recently started my second attempt at reading Lord of the Rings and find that Tolkien’s descriptions of food often make me want to snack. Has a book ever inspired you to get some munchies? Love you!

Andy Smith

You guys have discussed on multiple occasions your favorite "Food Scenes" in movies/TV. Can you guys think of your "Worst Food Scenes" from a movie or TV. A food scene that completely grosses you out and may even make you fast forward the scene. For me it's the scene in Ron Howard's The Grinch, where Jim Carey as The Grinch, is forced fed pudding by the people of Whoville. Keep up the good work and thanks for all the great content during this shitty Pandemic.

Chris Dial

Hey guys! Found your show over quarantine and it has become an instant favorite. My favorite thing is going to a concert (preferably phish). My question is what are your go to foods/drinks at a concert if any? Thanks dudes!
