Hey all!

If you remember, a couple of days ago, I did a Call for Suggestions asking what sort of content you wanted for a 5e rules supplement. A lot of folks mentioned they were interested in my Birthright idea, and that's what I've been working on most of today.

In fact, I may have already gone a bit overboard.

Crown & Court: High Concept

The highest concept of this supplement is that tthe characters are all members of a noble house. They themselves may even be the lord/lady of the house, heir apparent, family members, or just vassals. While they will spend most of their time adventuring, they will also spend considerable time managing the house, dealing with intrigue, and fighting off rivals.

So far, I've come up with:

Tables to players to generate their bloodline status in a noble house

A rank system for noble houses (kinda like levels in D&D)

Actions that noble houses can take during downtime

Noble house statistics that function like ability scores in D&D

Types of resources that a house can gain

Tables on creating complications, rivals, etc.

I also plan to add other information that allows the characters to move through time and age and play through their lineage, similar to how Pendragon does it.

Once I reached this point, I figured it'd probably be easier to make this rules-agnostic. It will still be heavily based on D&D, but realistically, you can use these rules and tables with any game.

I'll probably be working on this more today and some tomorrow, so there's plenty of time for me to add in your ideas. I should have a rough "playable" version of the content, which I can release as a PDF, inevitably working to a full-length book for you $25+ folks.

Having said all that...

What would you like to see added that I haven't already covered? Let me know in the comments below.

May be captured already on what you have done, but resource management in various aspects ie military, law and order, spy craft, finances/trade where a house chooses where it's strengths lie and other become weaknesses impacting engagement with the other houses

Rules for marriage and the benefits both houses get when one house member marries a member of a different house.

Adventures, EH?

Ooh, this is going to be super useful! Rules for events that have effects like boosting status or offering temporary benefits to the house or player (balls, tourneys etc) but aren't necessarily downtime would be great. In my game, a royal wedding is coming up so it would be great timing!

You could go into the weeds here but guild/craft specializations (aka how the rich people get their money) with positive and negative interactions based on craft choice

Nordic Stan

I like them very much. You could make a kickstarter. I dont like "Noble house statistics that function like ability scores in D&D" more admin and what would I give other players, now all want to be noble ;)

Mechanics for different kinds of inter-house conflicts, or suggestions for how to run them. Ways to distinguish houses with different focuses so that it doesn’t feel entirely cosmetic which house you are. Suggestions for the kind of events that might have houses scrambling for advantage. Benefits or constraints for people in particular roles in the houses, perhaps.

This sounds awesome! I'd like some mechanical measure of public relations or managing kingdom affairs that the houses have to respond to. It would be cool for a DM to have some templates for creating non-violent political conflicts with the NPC vs NPC houses and NPC vs PC houses.

Is the idea that a single noble house functions somewhat like a PC when it comes to interactions with other noble houses? That makes better sense of the bulleted points. That the ideas here are less about individual members than about the house as a whole.

A table for small heirlooms that are significant to the family's history. At one point, I was working on a table rolling system to generate coats of arms. I'd be happy to clean that up and show it to you if you'd like.
