A/N: Welcome to my newest weekly story, replacing Invader Syndrome in my weekly schedule! Please let me know what you think of this one after you’re done reading, it’s very important for me to know what interest is like so I know whether to continue this or not!

-x-X-x-

It’s a dark and stormy night on the mountain. The rain comes down in sheets, making a muddy mess of the mountainside, bereft as it is of foliage or indeed any sort of vegetation whatsoever. The closest plant to the mountain lies at its base. A single tree sits there with a heavy canopy that drapes down to the ground, providing a bit of cover from the rain.

Beneath this tree are two cloaked figures. They stare up at the mountain in wordless silence, until finally the taller of the pair turns to the shorter.

“You will ascend the mountain. You will confront your destiny.”

His voice is sibilant, holding the hiss of a snake to it. His tone is commanding, brooking no argument. Not that the other cloaked figure even tries to argue. His head bowed, his eyes on the sodden ground beneath his bare feet, he speaks in a whisper.

“… yes master.”

This is not good enough for the taller of the pair. A hand lashes out and grabs ahold of both hood and hair, yanking the shorter one’s head back, forcing eye contact between the two of them. Yellow eyes, slitted like a serpent’s, stare down into bright blue as a burst of lightning manages to make it through the tree’s heavy canopy and momentarily illuminates their features.

“You will not fail me, Container. This is your entire purpose. This is the reason you were brought into this world. You will succeed or you will die and I do not give you permission to die. Do you understand me?”

The Container nods, whisps of dark black hair visible from under the slightly bunched hood of his cloak.

“Ah… yes master. I will succeed.”

The taller of the cloaked figures stares for a moment longer, his own pale features showing him to be ghastly in visage and altogether… inhuman. And yet, there is no fear in the second’s eyes. Only acceptance. Only submission.

“… Good. Then go. Go and return only once you have succeeded at provoking the demon into falling for our trap.”

He shoves the Container forward at those words, out from under the canopy of the tree, out into the pouring, pounding rain. The Container stumbles and then slips, nearly falling flat on his face in the mud. He only just manages to hold himself up and keep from the humiliating spill.

Straightening, he begins to make his way forward, one bare foot in front of the other… and he starts his ascension. It is not easy. It is not simple. The mountainside is treacherous, the rain turning it into foot-deep sludge. Eventually he is up to his ankles in it. Soon after that, he starts to have to crawl.

But he does not stop. He has no choice. In the end, he reaches within himself, pulling on the energy that his master had granted him. Chakra. Power by any other name. He cycles it through his trembling arms and legs and feels the shiver trying to permeate him slowly pushed back. The weather, which would have likely killed him from exposure otherwise, becomes nothing but a passing nuisance.

Of course… chakra is a finite resource. He can only do so much before he runs out of it, at least as he is now. Soon he will have infinite chakra, or near it anyways… though it won’t be his to use. It will belong to his master as he belongs to his master.

That… frustrates a part of him. Using chakra is one of his greatest joys in life. Even now, using his own chakra to ascend the mountain, even if it is at his master’s bequest… it feels good. It feels better than good, it feels amazing.

Well, that is until he starts to run out of it. He’s about three-fourths of the way to his destination when he starts to feel that emptiness inside of him. The emptiness that guarantees he’s used up the last of that internal energy of his. He tries to keep cycling what dregs remain all the same, but it’s no use.

The last leg of his journey is the hardest as a result… but he continues to crawl up the muddy mountainside all the same. There is no other choice for a Container like him. As his master said, he either returns triumphant… or he dies a failure.

Fortunately for him, he does not need to ascend to the top of the mountain. If his destination was the mountain’s peak, well… he would have probably already given up and laid down to let the mud swallow him whole, because he’s not even a third of the way to that.

No, rather… his destination seems to all but materialize in front of him out of nowhere. The steep mud-caked incline he’s been climbing up suddenly levels out and he finds himself staring into the mouth of a massive cave.

His jaw drops open as he beholds it… but he remembers himself a moment later and trudges inside. He’s able to stand back up and his feet transition from mud to much firmer, dry rock in just a few more seconds. He’s out of the rain now, the water sliding down the mountain away from the cave entirely.

Ripping off his cloak, the Container uses it to wipe the mud from his hands… and then he discards it, throwing it to the side and leaving himself in nothing but a simple fundoshi to cover his modesty. The rest of him is completely bared, but he does not mind it.

Indeed, he only stays still long enough to recover a modicum of his strength. A bit of chakra returns to him and he cycles it through his limbs as he’d been taught, giving himself a bit more stamina. He just has to put one foot in front of the other now. Everything else… is up to the demon.

Slowly, the Container moves forward into the darkness. It wasn’t much lighter outside of the cave and while there are some small rocks strewn about that dig into the soles of his feet, it’s a far better sensation than climbing the mountain was. Besides, the urge to complain about minor bouts of pain was beaten out of him many, many years ago.

Eventually, he begins to hear a rumbling noise from deeper within the mountain. And as he gets closer… he feels a shifting beneath his feet that threatens to unbalance him. Still the Container moves forward. Still he continues to walk. Until…

“Intruder…”

The voice is all around him. Loud, encompassing, and distinctly feminine in nature. It booms into his ears, staggering the Container. Still he keeps moving forward, knowing that despite its volume, the owner of the voice is not close by, but rather still up ahead.

Until quite suddenly… she’s right in front of him. The Container stops dead in his tracks as a muzzle as large as his chest suddenly materializes mere feet away.

“You’re a brave one, aren’t you?”

Red eyes glow with enough light to illuminate the Container’s mostly naked form. His entire body is a mishmash of scarring, until it’s hard to see where one scar ends and another begins. Not a single inch of his flesh has been spared, not that he shows any care over it.

Placing his hands together, the Container bows low at the waist.

“Greetings, Great Fox Mistress. This lowly Container is ashamed to stand in your presence.”

The Nine-Tailed Fox, the greatest demon in all the lands, stares at him for a long moment before sniffing hard enough to bowl him over with a single flare of her nostrils.

“Then don’t. Kneel, worm.”

And so kneel he does, bowing his head before the creature that might as well be a god. Such is her power that entire Ninja Clans have been wiped out by her rages. Such is her mere presence that this mountain that she has made her den has been cleansed of any and all other life, her corrosive chakra slowly but surely killing it all.

Indeed, even now the Container feels himself beginning to sweat. Any previous cold from the weather conditions outside is being chased from his limbs by the living furnace in front of him. The power she holds is such that if he spends too long in her presence, he will undoubtedly perish.

Neither of them comment on that though. No, instead the Nine-Tailed Fox prowls a bit closer, seeming to study him for a moment.

“… Why have you come here, intruder? What do you hope to gain from invading my den and placing yourself before me?”

The Container has been coached on what to say by his master. The words come to his tongue, feeling somewhat ungainly. After all, these are not things he himself would ever say… merely lines he has been trained to parrot until he can say nothing else in this moment.

“I have been told your human form is quite beautiful, Great Fox Mistress. I have come to bed you and make you my woman.”

A ludicrous statement even if he were a hundred times more powerful… no, a thousand times more powerful. The Nine-Tails is so far beyond even the strongest of mortals. Even his master does not hold a candle to her strength. But then… that is the point. That is why his master has sent him. So that the Container can make her strength… his own.

“YOU DARE?!”

As anticipated, the Demon Goddess does not take kindly to his brazen words. Proud and egotistical as she is, she does not even pause to consider why a lowly worm like him would even say such a thing. No, rather… she simply lunges forward and opens her massive maw wide, intending to swallow him whole.

Which is when the Container does the only thing he was brought into this world to do. He lashes out, his arm stretching and reaching and slamming into the Nine-Tailed Fox’s upper lip.

A single moment of contact is all he needs… for the scarring across his body is not mere scarring at all. Rather, each and every line of ruined flesh is purposeful in its exacting existence. Each carved edge represents another part of the most intricate seal ever crafted by human hands.

The Demon Goddess knows that humans have seals. But she does not know them well enough to recognize when a human’s own flesh has been turned into both the canvas and ink. Nor would she recognize one as complex as this in mere moments.

In an instant, the Container’s scars all light up with power as the Nine-Tails is frozen in her tracks. Red eyes widen in disbelief as the Container spreads his fingers from her upper lip to her muzzle, pressing his palm into her flesh… which isn’t really flesh at all.

If she were flesh and blood like a human, then this would not have worked. Just her initial momentum would have seen him bowled over and trampled to death before anything could happen. But the demons are not flesh and blood for all that they have solid forms… rather, they are chakra. Extremely dense, extremely heavy, extremely corrosive chakra. They are Chakra Manifest.

And the Container has been built, trained, and forged for one purpose and one purpose only… to hold all of that chakra within himself.

“What is this… no… NO!”

The Nine-Tails’ protests are too late. They also fall on deaf ears. It is not as though the Container will stop now… obviously not. He holds onto her as all of the chakra that makes up her being fills and fills him. He clings to her, first with one hand and then the other, and draws every last bit of her into himself. He consumes her, for lack of a better word.

And yet… even as he does so, it’s too much. He can feel that it’s too much. He feels like he might just explode. The power is overwhelming. His seals, carved out of his own flesh and into being as they are… are not quite perfect.

Even as the Nine-Tails disappears into him, the Container drops to his knees, gasping for air, his scars glowing more brightly than ever before. His eyes glow too… and so does his mouth. He… he’s not sure he can contain it. He’s not-

-x-X-x-

Orochimaru stands at the foot of the mountain under the canopy of the tree and watches from afar as what had initially felt like a success quite abruptly turns to failure. His finely honed senses had felt the power of the Nine-Tailed Fox slowly but surely diminishing, meaning that the Container he’d created had been working.

It was the first of its kind, a human made entirely for holding one of the so-called ‘Demon Gods’ within him. Orochimaru knew better of course. Such creatures were not gods… and possibly not even demons. No, based on his own research he would be more inclined to refer to them as ‘Chakra Beasts’.

But alas… it would seem like he needs to revisit his research and return to the drawing board because just as success feels all but inevitable, the Nine-Tails’ power bursts forth once more, thrashing about, raging.

Orochimaru grimaces, chalking this up to yet another failure. His latest project… a loss. Without a second’s thought he cuts his losses and flees the scene, descending beneath the earth and saturating the area with neutral chakra so that when the Nine-Tails finally comes clamoring out of her lair, she won’t find and kill him.

The nearby settlements probably won’t be so lucky, but Orochimaru couldn't care less about them. And more so… sometimes sacrifices had to be made in the name of scientific advancement.

He would sigh if it wouldn’t result in a mouthful of dirt. Yet another failure… perhaps next time would be the charm.

-x-X-x-

Unbeknownst to Orochimaru, however, he had been more successful than he thought. Back in the cave partway up the mountain, the Container’s unconscious body trembles in midair, corrosive chakra destroying the rock and stone all around him and creating a sphere of empty space.

However… the Container himself still lives and still draws breath, the scars across his form making up the seal containing the Demon Goddess actually managing to hold and do their job properly. Her power is contained for all that she rages within her new prison. She can damage the environment around her, but she cannot damage her cage itself.

All the while the Container slumbers… recovering from the unmitigated, undeniable success of his mission.

A/N: Alright everyone, welcome to my newest weekly story! No vote this first chapter, instead please throw me some title ideas for us to vote on next time if you have any!

And yes, our MC is currently nameless and the first ‘Jinchuriki’ in a version of the Elemental Nations that doesn’t even have a word for Demon Containers yet.

Please give me your feedback on what you thought of this first chapter and leave a Like if you want to see more. The response to it will of course decide if I continue it or scrap the idea and go back to the drawing board!

Corvus

This looks very promising🔥 Looking forward to more!

Robert Brown

The only thing I can really find wrong with this is the wording...for example 'sensor chakra' that just sounds off wether said out loud or in my head.

Robert Brown

Captain2003Rex

Great first chapter, I’d definitely be interested to see more! Hopefully our guy will grow on her, it’d be a shame to have a hot fox lady inside his head that never stops being hostile to him. Plus, the tags promise demon sex lol.

Titleoption: A Vessel filled

Vacivus

Interesting! "The nearby settlements probably won’t be so lucky, but Orochimaru could care less about them." could care less = I care some, since it's possible to care less than I do right now couldn't care less = I care so little that it isn't possible to care less Presumably should be "couldn't care less" here

amazing name idea

Bladesunder

I dig it, is this meant to be a strong to stronger or what kind of power level are we talking about here? Title suggestions: Vessel The Container The First Prison Era of Beasts Unsealed World Failed Experiment Project Zero Den of the Fox Caged Goddess

Your Jordan's Are Fake

Might want to change or expand your summary for when you officially post it, I nearly didnt read the chapter cause it didnt sound interesting but decided to trust you knew what you were writing. Might want to add in something along the lines of "this ninja world has never seen a Jinchuriki before and now for the first time, this twisted world, will feel their wrath" or some such

MercerV12

Seems like a good story so far, will be interesting to see how the MC’s personality develops past the initial “I am Vessel” mentality that orochimaru has definitely beaten into him, and how his eventual relationship with the fox will develop when she realises he was just an unwitting pawn in her imprisonment rather than its architect

Cambrian

Weak to Strong to Stronger, but probably gonna go from Weak to Strong the fastest (like in the next few chapters)

Fiduciam

Look nice. Hopefully he will free himself from Orochimaru.
