That’s a lovely new shade on your nails. Likewise, I liked the color coordination with your jewelry. As to the finale. No, yeah, this was an intense and well executed finale. I shared your greatest paramount concern of Debbie ultimately being ok by the end of the episode. You and I had similar thoughts and statements about that throughout, albeit one area where mine was different was I said, “It’s my goddamn birthday tomorrow. So, kindly, please, feel free not to follow through with any plans on killing Debbie. Ok, show?” Your entire observations and commentary about Angstrom and the dilemma Mark faced were tremendous, Jess. As you say, Angstrom is quite the nuanced character, not just a mustache twirling villain. Thus, one does feel pity and sympathy for him, threats and acts of violence against Debbie notwithstanding. And Mark has been trying to avoid falling off the deep end, and to his credit, he tries many times to appeal to Angstrom before being thrown into multiple universes, adored your reactions to the Betty universe, and the Walking Dead universe. A small laugh, likewise, as lawyer friendly Spider-Man, which I’ve already seen people memeing the one line, “It looks like Spider-Man, but due to international copyright laws, it’s not!” leading me to laugh, and note, “Nicely done.” Debbie earns her title of Mama Boss when she calls out Angstrom, in what was perhaps the best occasion of a comic book villain’s logic being torn down since Batman defied the Joker’s One Bad Day mentality. Goddamn, did Sandra sell that part. Again, you and I had shared reactions to Debbie. Her arm being broken, we both screamed on that one. It culminates in Mark’s completely understandable moment of snapping and beating Angstrom to death. Your reaction being similar to mine in that nothing was really said during that moment. It then leads to the rumination of what he did, and how right or wrong his actions were, and I share your love for the showcasing. It recalls the line Claude Rains had in The Wolf Man, “To some people, life is very simple. They decide that this is good, that is bad. This is wrong, that’s right. There’s no right in wrong, no good in bad. No shadings and greys, all blacks and whites. Now others of us find that good, bad, right, wrong, are many-sided, complex things. We try to see every side but the more we see, the less sure we are.” And indeed, though it is hard to say how right or wrong his actions were, I don’t condemn him for what he did, because he saved his mom and little brother. Hell, it says something when Cecil drops his usual grim and secretive self and says straight up, man-to-man, that Mark’s actions were understandable. If I were Cecil, I’d even note that if it was my mom, and I saw the state she was in, and I had Mark’s powers, I can’t say I wouldn’t have done the same thing. Speaking of Cecil, you ask our opinions, he’s still my favorite character of the show. Yes, not much Rex in this episode, though I enjoyed your reaction to the one part with him. Good on Rudy having that good apology, love that you liked that. Unclear as to how I feel about Kate’s appearance. As Bill said in Kill Bill, “for the record, letting someone think that someone they love is dead when they’re not, is quite cruel.” Then again, Immortal seems to not mind. I concur that now is not the best time for Mark to talk about romantic feelings with Eve. I appreciate the scene where Mark makes the decision to drop out of college. There’s no shame, college isn’t for everyone. I couldn’t do it. And though Debbie would have preferred Mark to continue with college and graduate, she listens, understands, and accepts the decision. I had a similar thing with my parents understanding my dropping out of college. Mark’s got one damn good mom. As to his dad, love the final scene between Omni-Man and Allen. I laughed at your question of which wife did Omni-Man miss, and I would imagine that it is quite likely that Insect-Kim is dead. Me, I heard Omni-Man say that he misses his wife, I just took that to mean Debbie, and I immediately said in reply, “As well you should, you piece of shit.” Now begins the waiting game for the next season, which I look forward to sharing with you, Jess. Hopefully, it’s not as long a wait as the wait between seasons one and two. In any case, I look forward to seeing your outfit/color coordination with the blacks and blues, which yes, you can work with it. Thank you for the lovely time, sharing Invincible season two with you, Jess.
