Oh my goodness. You've braved the first incarnation, the tattoo. Well done. We've been rather worried about this one. Now, a suggestion? A handy block to the screen? A cushion or some shades? Anything that may lessen the ophidiophobia when the aforementioned problem rears it's ugly head? We really do not want our favourite Whovian to be traumatized!! Hopefully, at least, you are not viewing the updated visual effects version. It looks like you may be looking at the original. BTW: Janet Fielding's possessed Tegan was, as you say, incredibly well done. This is the first time that I've heard of anyone weaponizing celery! You could use it against Peter Davison as he can't stand celery. It was JNT's suggestion. In Castrovalva, after biting into a stick and chewing, he spat it out as soon as possible.

Hello Sesskasays, it's Kinda of you to react to this one ;). I remember seeing this when I was very young. It's a Kinda strange and creepy Doctor Who story... lol and it definitely scared me quite a bit as a child, but it's one of my favourites of the Peter Davison era. I believe the monster of this is perhaps one of the very few, if not the only, truly iconic Peter Davion-era 5th Doctor monster that's unique to him, one I'd love to see return.

Thank you for a wonderful reaction & great to see you back! Hope you had a fab holiday. This story is hands down one of the most terrifying stories of Classic Who & it makes my top 10 of Classic Who. Tegan (Janet Fielding) acting Possessed genuinely makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up! The whole sequence with her & the entity known as The Mara is absolute Nightmare fuel! I was Petrified of this when I saw it as a kid! It took me a while to realize but the similarities with the biblical story of Genesis & the Garden of Eden are unmistakable and very deliberate - Apples being forbidden fruit and the notion that within each paradise therein lies a serpent. Amazing story to my mind, but quite a few people don't vibe with it. You're incredibly brave sitting through it Jess, given your levels of fear regarding said animal. See you next time - maybe have a pillow handy to hide behind as I did as a kid!

Loving the idea of celery being used like a crucifix. Back, nature-haters, back! Also, I saw this story at an extremely young age and the spooky nightmare sequences and hot evil Tegan both made an impression on me. It's no wonder I'm unhinged.

Someone already told you who plays Teagan, so Sarah Sutton plays Nyssa, and Matthew Waterhouse plays Adric.
