Jess: "Does Wesley have a Crush-er?" (slightly embarrassed laugh) Sally Sparrow: "That sentence got away from you, didn't it!"

Here we have an occasion where the episode, I found it to be only so-so. But then sharing it with you, seeing your insanely wonderful reaction, Jess, makes it SO much better. Like you said, though I’m not entirely averse to it, the love at first sight trope is tricky to pull off. Here, like you said, it’s done ok, and it is helped by the youth of the characters. Oh, to be young and to feel love’s keen sting. Well, in point of fact, I never quite went through it at that age myself, but from what people have told me, it is quite a beautiful feeling. Or quite a hellish feeling, depending on the experience being relayed. I loved the look on your face when the swoony music kicked in upon Wesley getting struck by Cupid’s arrow, followed by your realization she too had the crush on young Crusher to add onto the really terrible pun you made which was fantastic. The unfortunate thing is that said pun never even occurred to me whilst watching the episode, only when you made the pun did that actually register. Sadly, I’m not as sharp with the dad jokes since Dad died, and it’s been far too long since Papa was alive to offer the dad joke wisdom. The writing is where the love story slightly crumbles for me. Wil, bless him, does the best he can, as does Jaime Hubbard, and the writing just somehow felt CLUNKIER than the writing George Lucas had in Attack of the Clones for Anakin and Padmé’s romance plot, and it doesn’t have the benefit of John Williams carrying the entire goddamn thing with Across the Stars. I hear what you’re saying on your feelings on the whole plot. It does become irksome when it sort of leans on the liar revealed trope which is such a bullshit trope, though it is at least kind of nice that Wesley offers the... Uh, chocolate mousse branch? Ignore me, sorry. I KNEW you’d comment on the waste of the chocolate mousse by the way. The guest appearance of Paddi Edwards as No Fun Anya as you dubbed her, was quite appreciated. The animosity between Worf and No Fun Anya which then became a more professional respect was nice. A few of their scenes, I was a bit of a wiseass, chiming in, “Perhaps the two of you would like a room?” I too could have used a lot more of the specifics of the political side of things in this. I loved how you got invested in Geordi just wanting to do his job, and I loved how you appreciated that moment where Geordi recognizes that Wesley is too distracted by being a lovesick puppy, so he just tells Wesley to just get the fuck out. I had a similar reaction to Worf’s loud and frankly jarring demonstration of how a Klingon lures a mate. Quite impressed by Worf saying that the Klingon men put stock in poetry. Good men. It is probably for the best that Wesley did not inquire to Picard about notions of romance considering the, shall we say, Beverly shaped hole which currently resides in old Jean-Luc’s ticker. Your reaction to Mädchen Amick made me confused for a moment, then you mentioned Twin Peaks, making me say. “Oh, ok. I still haven’t seen that yet, hence my puzzlement.” We did share a reaction to the, uh, furry, Meep looking Ewok. I was also a wiseass at the end where Wesley has the “I’ll never love again.” attitude whilst he ties one on in an attempt to drown his sorrows, I quipped, “Well, Wesley, it’s like they say, the age-old expression, “Tis better to have loved and lost than never to have-” Oh, HELL! Give the boy another goddamn drink, Guinan!” By the way, your reaction to Riker and Guinan’s scene was perfect. Like I said, a so-so episode that has become elevated by seeing your marvelous reaction, Jess. This was a great time, thank you.

on the topic of true love between teenagers, I think when you're a walking hormone bomb and your brain hasn't yet finished developing to a point where you are able to regulate your emotions, it doesn't take much to trigger a chemical storm - you're both cute, have a shared interest and are on the same ship? that's more than enough! and when you're a teenager, it's /always/ true love. the truest. because you haven't yet learned to tone it down a notch for your own protection. you haven't yet learned how dangerous it can be when you don't and how much it can hurt to have your heart broken. you just throw yourself into the experience, come what may. and even when you experience heart break and rejection at that age, with your prefrontal cortex still cooking, you'll bounce right back anyway and fall in love with the next cutie that walks by and smiles at you. and yes, that'll also be the purest, most truest love. 😏 it only gets more complicated as the people involved get more complicated. when you're young, it's quite simple. and while it might seem silly to an observing adult, who's to say the experience isn't genuine? and that the feelings aren't real? 🤷‍♀️ looking back as an adult at my own experiences as a teenager I, too, think most of it was very silly. but I sure didn't think so when I was there, experiencing it. and while feelings do have a lot more substance when you're an adult, doesn't it also sometimes suck how hard it is? and how long it takes to let your guard down and allow yourself to feel your feelings to the fullest? I do miss being simple sometimes, it was a lot of fun. 😊

The episode that makes every French speaker's eye twitch, because the title should be "Dauphine" for a girl. But if Barbie taught us anything, it's that she should be able to be called anything she wants, so go ahead and go full Revolutionary Girl Utena on their asses. As you might imagine, the fans were in absolutely no mood at this time for an entire episode of "Wesley gets a girlfriend," but its reputation seems to have improved a bit in the following years. Of course, the most fun part is everyone's love advice, all perfectly in character and you can tell the actors were having a ton of fun with it after the often overly serious first season. My cold dead aroace heart needs a LOT to get invested in something like this (and I tend to respond a lot better to already established relationships), so I've never been that much of a fan, but seeing you so delighted by it does a lot to help it along.

Suggestion from a lower-tier member: I'm not sure if this is possible, but you should make it so that all the video thumbnails are visible to everyone (even if lower tiers can't access the videos themselves). With the current display, it appears to lower-tier members that there isn't any content available beyond what they can already access. So there's no incentive to spring for a higher tier. (I noticed that pretty much all Patreon accounts defaulted to this setup a few months back. I think it doesn't help the creators bring in new members.)
