This is one of those MCU movies where I feel the story is better than the execution. Thor's arc with Love and Jane's with her illness both feel earned, natural and compelling. Unfortunately the style of humour doesn't really suit the gravitas of the plot, unlike with Ragnarok. Still I like this movie quite a lot better than Multiverse of Madness or Eternals (neither of which serve as a satisfying enough story for me to hold them as canon). I don't love this one as much though as No Way Home, or like it as much as Shang-Chi or Black Widow.

I'm glad you also got into it. Even though it's not a reveal anymore, I still really like the reveal of what the title means at the end. It is kinda funny that it took him 8 movies of character development to essentially just grow up to be his dad. Hope the day got less stressful.

Similar views on this Thor film. The plot with Jane is actually quite good. And when the film allows itself to calm down and focus on that, it’s good drama. The chaotic over the top humorous nature of so much of the film just does not mesh terribly well with that. The Thor films feel particularly uneven. The first one, though not spectacular, Branagh’s direction was great, and it was a solid first film. The second Thor film is my personal pick for the weakest MCU film with the most BORING villain in the franchise. Ragnarök is the best Thor and had that great eighties Flash Gordon feel. Here, it feels like they tried to do that again, only more extreme, with mixed results. It does have its moments, though. Concerning Multiverse of Madness and Eternals: I loved Multiverse of Madness, primarily because of loving Sam Raimi and his style. Eternals, I didn’t find it to be strictly speaking bad, I just didn’t like it as much as I was wanting to; it really should have been a miniseries to help showcase the characters better. No Way Home is amazing. Haven’t seen Shang-Chi yet. Black Widow feels underappreciated by the MCU fans. I loved it, and I would go so far as to say it might make my top ten of the MCU films. I dug the hell out of it.
