This was a solid finale to this season. I too am relatively happy how the situation with Ash played out. I recalled how you were concerned about how that would play out. You did figure that Ash really couldn’t die as no one else could fly the plane. I liked how they didn’t push the forced forgiveness. Carol even saying that she’s not begrudging him hating her, only asking that he not extend that hatred toward Daryl and Laurent, and Ash silently recognizes that he is letting his grumpiness, which you say he can be as grumpy as he likes, he is misplacing it some. Similarly, Daryl does not push for him to have the bygones attitude, simply noting that he remembers being with Carol after Sophia, and that if nothing else, Ash can help save a kid here. Lovely therefore how they get Laurent in the air. Fallou and Codron doing good work. Daryl embracing his inner Sasha, loved that. And Carol staying behind with him. It was nice to see Ash living his best life in that victory; it felt like it’s now started a healing process for him. Laurent is now going to have the faith that he can see Daryl again. I felt what he said about when good things happen, something bad comes around to ruin it. I somewhat grimly noted, “That’s life, le gamin, trick is learning how to run with it.” Now to our cultish fuckers. Loved how Anna, tough bitch that she is, was so unbothered and didn’t flinch; Sabine looked tacitly impressed. Love how Anna lead the group into the deathtrap. Sadly, it costs her her life, though she gets a hell of an exit. You noted the eye contact, I noted the same, saying, “Someone make a note of that lady being one cold, tough ass bitch.” Said deathtrap gets Jacinta bit, and when she says God is on their side, I said, “The small missing piece of your arm would suggest otherwise.” Anna had the line of God abandoning everyone, which was good. Rather immensely cathartic the scene is where Jacinta sees Laurent be ferried to salvation, whilst she is left infected with pestilence and plague. And how she despairs that like Moses, neither she nor Losang live to see the promised land. Nothing left for her to do then blow her brains out, thus guaranteeing she’ll become a civil servant in the afterlife. I ponder, in the afterlife, what sort of shit assignment Juno would give Jacinta. Mayhaps she’d be stuck babysitting the old Juice, twould be a fitting punishment. Yes? No? Loved how you had zero sympathy. Hopefully the rest of them just fucked the fuck off. I also got a kick out of the Scottish line. Rather nice how Daryl tells Codron the truth about his brother. Yeah, Daryl thought of Merle in that scene. Likewise, Fallou talking about his past. Loved your silent reaction to the question of the apocalypse getting rid of racism. Fallou had the good response of the playing field being leveled. The blossoming romance was a surprise to be sure, but a welcome one. Especially after the previous love stories didn’t work out too well. You said the last love story didn’t work out so well, before I could ask which one, you clarified that it didn’t work out for you, and I said, “Ah. The cuteness couple.” I’m with you on that, and I’m still upset about Daryl/Isabelle not working out in the long run. It speaks to how well they pulled this romance off in such a short time that we both were heavily invested. Fallou decides to stay behind with Akila, wishes his new brother-in-arms the best of luck, truly a lovely departure for our collective bestie. I would not say no to seeing him and Akila again. If we do not, then we take this moment to offer our compliments to Eriq Ebouaney for his performance as Fallou. The tunnel scene was trippy as shit once the guano took hold. Fair enough on the unclear feelings on the hallucinations/visions. A drug person can learn to cope with things like seeing their dead grandmother crawling up their leg with a knife in her teeth, but nobody should be asked to handle this trip. Those fluorescent walkers did serve, yes. KNEW you were going to comment on being happy that Fallou was not in the tunnels, I even said yesterday whilst watching, “One thing for sure, Jess is going to be fucking relieved beyond all goddamn belief that Fallou is not traversing in this tunnel.” Shame to see Codron lose himself. Could see either way his return. See how that plays out. The Sophia of it all gets you. We both thought about Carol potentially hugging the walker. We share the assessment of since Carol goes through the ordeal of facing the trauma, she finds a catharsis of finally feeling some long-buried pain. The Scots turn on Daryl, but Isabelle arrives to save him. Meaning that as Laurent said, she made it upstairs. Hope she met Beth as the two of them would get along famously. Got me right in the heart seeing that she is now Daryl’s angel in Heaven looking out for him, and through her encouragement, combined with the vision of his grandfather, he fights back, and lives again. That last bow from Clémence was much appreciated. That bit with the fireflies, loved that, and I loved your reaction to that. Nice to end on the last shot of Daryl and Carol soldering on, with the Stones playing. I am sorry to hear you’ve had a trying week. You speak of being out of tears as a result of said trying week. It is nothing to apologize for. More, even without the tears, your eyes still convey everything, and show so strongly, your heart. And it is so nice to hear you say that all these years, watching a Walking Dead show, you feel like your home. Though I was not with you every step of the way when you started your channel, what I have joined you for, Jess, has been most lovely. Thank you for the reaction to both this finale, and this season.
