I absolutely adore this episode. Jared's acting this episode is heart wrenching, and his scenes with Mark Pellegrino are just un-freaking believable. Sam and Lucifer completely stole the episode for me (not that Rowena and Crowley, or Dean and Amara took anything away from this episode, because their arcs were also great). The cold, calm, certainty that Lucifer projects, the subtle cruelty, the mocking and leers and extremely suggestive comments (not for the first time we get hints that no kinds of torture were off limits for Sam when he was in the cage), just has your hairs standing on end every single time he is on screen. He is so effortlessly creepy, and evil, despite how polite or gentle he seems. In fact, it just makes everything seem so much worse. But Sam... omg Sam this episode. The utter terror on his face, the absolutely horrified petrification he shows seeing Lucifer, the effort you can see it is taking on him to even talk to him... and then when he is zapped into the cage, when he realizes he was played by Lucifer again... my heart breaks every single time I see that scene. Once Sam starts crying, because he realizes he is once again trapped with his abuser for almost two centuries, no matter how many times my heart just shatters for him. You can literally see and feel how small Sam feels, how alone. Just a masterclass on acting by Jared, start to finish.

This is when it gets good! Lucifer is always nice to see and entertaining to watch.
