Another good episode. I think it’s going to reach a point soon where Fury might wish to pull out that Captain Marvel pager, start mashing the button and yell, “Carol!! Carol, I gotta talk to you about the Skrulls!!” Yeah, I’d say you’re on the money that Fury and Talos’s relationship forms the heart and backbone of the show. You mentioned being skeptical. That was me with the scene with Varra. I get what you mean, feeling what she said and where she came from. Yet it did not distract me from noticing that she conveniently failed to provide a direct answer to Fury’s question. Much though I do applaud the use of Sith Lord style subterfuge, it stood out like a sore thumb, and though you know Fury is ashamed by her words, he also likely noticed her lack of a direct answer. And then Varra’s scene at the end raises a few questions and adds to your own skepticism from last week. Our dear Olivia once again steals the episode. You and I are both in total agreement with her being the best part of this show. It’s a trifle distracting, I kept expecting during the interrogation that Fury would ask, “What does Marcellus Wallace look like?” then he’d start yelling, “What planet you from!? “What” ain’t no planet I ever heard of! They speak English in What!? ENGLISH, MOTHERFUCKER!! DO YOU SPEAK IT!?!?” As to G’iah, last week, I knew that Gravik knew or at least strongly suspected G’iah was betraying him, and like you, I knew he was setting her up this episode. It was a jolt when he just shot her. I agree that one thought was had that he’d take her to the machine thingy, though judging by his use of the Extremis to heal his palm, it seems he’s already dipped a toe into the water. I was a little too mean when G’iah was shot. I mean, it’s not impossible that she could still be alive after what happened; this is Marvel after all. Seeing the state that she’s in, however, her chances don’t look good, and I was unable to resist the mean joke, which was, “Well, it looks like she won’t be getting to sit on the Iron Throne in this universe either.” I give her credit for telling Gravik to shoot her in the front so that he has to look her in the eye when he pulls the trigger. Either Gravik has a death wish, or he seriously underestimates Talos, because I can bet that once he finds out, that Talos will rain down an ungodly fucking firestorm upon Gravik. He’s probably going to go so far as to call in Grand Moff Tarkin with the Death Star. We are talking scorched earth level destruction that Talos will bring on Gravik. Unless, of course, Gravik wants him to do that, in which case, it’ll be intersting how that plays into his plans. Thanks for another fun reaction, Jess.

This unfortunately plays into one of my personally most disliked tropes: the hero who instantly turns into an irrational, rageful idiot when a particular subject is mentioned. Back to the Future just barely gets away with the “chicken” thing because it’s a goofy comedy, and seeing Talos have the same kind of thing here instantly took me out of the scene. And I’m really trying to convince myself that there’s some twist coming with all the fridging and they’re not just expecting us to accept it in this day and age just for a quick “Look how DARK and EDGY we are!” buzz.

I mean, in Talos’s case, it is in regard to his daughter. Considering I don’t have kids, who am I to judge? Still, I do see your point. Don’t think I’m necessarily anticipating a twist coming with the fridging. If there is one, fine. If not, yeah, it is becoming just a bit unpleasant, the fridging in this show. Hopefully, Sonya remains safe. I need more Olivia in this and future MCU projects.
