Responding to your opening statement “I feel like everything’s going to get a lot messier before the end of the season.” isn’t that the case with every season of Supernatural? And as you note, you make it through the whole episode and still have no idea as to what’s going to happen or what’s going on with Sam. The plot of this episode is quite an interesting one. It’s funny how the sheriff immediately suspects zombies, I yelled, “Don’t say that! We’re not using the zed word!” That sheriff did want to live a Rick Grimes fantasy, got a laugh at your comment on that by the way. I love the focus on the Greek Mythology. Poor Prometheus. A big highlight is how the show unapologetically presents Zeus as being a complete fucking asshole. Which he is. Lots of shows and films downplay/omit that, most of them play up Zeus as a badass. You know that whole “Zeus! As in, father of Apollo? Mt. Olympus? Don't fuck with me or I’ll shove a lightning bolt up your ass? Zeus!” type mentality. So, it’s nice to see that here he’s portrayed as like I said, the complete fucking asshole that he is. Don’t recall Artemis having a thing for Prometheus, though it has been some time since reading the Greek Myths. It was amusing Sam calling Artemis out. I do acknowledge and share your complaint of the condensed focus on the lore. When you bring in a lore, especially a lore as famous as Greek Mythology, and it’s only touched upon as briefly as it is, it is a trifle let-down. Sucks for that kid who yes, was quite taciturn throughout the episode. It gets you right in the heart at the end where Dean tries praying to Cas for Sam. Your reaction to that was most lovely, just as your reaction to this episode was most enjoyable, thanks, Jess.
