Two good episodes today. Start with the first one. It is a jolt seeing Rukh appear. He is a character from the expanded universe of old. Warwick Davis is great as the voice. I knew you’d love the moments of Hera and Kanan. I agree with you that when there’s a couple you love, seeing them kiss is not something you need to see. In this scenario, it was nice to see it, and I LOVED your reaction to it. I also loved you championing Hera being “that bitch” as you described. The first time you said it in relation to Pryce being overconfident, I quipped, “Pryce doth underestimate Hera’s skill at being that bitch, flying-wise. And otherwise-wise, too” Such a FANTASTIC moment of Hera going to lightspeed, your reaction, likewise, FANTASTIC. I love how Ryder realistically is befuddled by our dear Shady Bunch, yet largely rolls with it. I love too how you see Zeb’s more or less thrown in the towel as evidenced by his advisng Ryder that when things get strange, it’s a good thing. In Ryder’s place, when it came to the loth-wolves, I’d have said, “This had better work, otherwise I’m going to come back in the next life as a squirrel and crawl up each of your pants leg.” Concerning that one mystical moment. Difficult to say what transpired exactly. It could be one thing; it could be another. There is an archaic and somewhat obscure force ability known as fold space. What we saw could have been that. The second episode was a bit of a breather, which I liked. That crawler looked like the world devastators from the way back when. That brings back memories. God was it a bitch trying to take those fuckers down. That Trandoshan was a nuisance. It was amusing when Ezra tried to imitate his voice. I was critical, saying, “His voice is snake-like Seth Green, not strep throat Peter Lorre.” And ultimately, Ezra has to go through the vents for old times’ sake. I loved how you liked the narrative poetry of that. Twas good how it rhymed with the beginning of the show. The show feeling the flow, working it. Good stuff. Good to see Vizago again. I laughed at his being disappointed that our heroes weren’t there to rescue him. It was similarly amusing how Kanan has a “Sure. Let’s go with that.” tone to his voice to help things run smoothly. Zeb’s big fight was great, and I love how it provides you and I some good quality Zeb time in the spotlight. I also had nerd giggles over the music during Zeb’s big fight scene as it was just like John’s music in Raiders of the Lost Ark when Indy fights that big German mechanic played by Pat Roach. And to end on that triumphant note, leading to a most beautiful look in your eyes, well, it was so perfect. Yes, you express nervousness with how things are going to proceed. I believe everyone felt the same way six years ago. Nevertheless, for now, we end on that triumphant note. And it is lovely to pause here prior to your break. And yes, I have so thoroughly loved sharing the journey through Rebels with you, Jess. Tis sad we only have so little time left. But this has been lovely, and I thank you for today’s reaction, and the journey thus far. It has been marvelous, Jess.

Really glad to see how much you have been enjoying the show Jess, and you can see how much many of us love this series too now, and how the love for it has grown over the years. Rukh was a character in the original Thrawn books, playing an assassin or spy of Thrawn's I believe. He's played by Warwick Davis who has played countless smaller statured people over the years, and was Wicket in Return Of The Jedi, the lead in Willow and has played loads of other roles in Star Wars and other big franchises like Harry Potter. Zeb is so strong, holding on to a hyperdrive with one hand and clawing a rock with another. He may smell very musky which Rukh picks up on, but he is also underestimated in his cleverness at dealing with Imperials in his own way. Kanan and Hera finally smooch, yay! They are so great together. Love the way Hera later jumps into lightspeed as she enters the construction domes to escape Thrawn's grasp, and take out dozens of imps on the way, what a legend her and Chopper are; and your reaction to seeing how boss Hera is Jess was great! The wolves are really something, no wonder no one has seen a Loth-wolf in a hundred years if they can just traverse the planet like that. And you ain't seen nothing yet with how bonkers late Rebels gets! Note the cat licks Ezra on the cheek to wake him up, on his scars which resemble whiskers. :) Kanan is stunned when he hears his original name from the wolf. We know this was his name earlier when Maul mentioned it in season 3, but I wonder if he hasn't heard it since he was a teenager when he changed his name from Caleb Dume to Kanan Jarrus. As Kanan the notes, there is something else happening on Lothal and why that planet is being highlighted by the Empire and its upto our crew to figure out what; however we other things to attend to as Hera gives the data recorder of the TIE Defender Elite to Mon Mothma to see how much of a threat this thing could be galactically.

4x8 : This mainly is a more mischevious light-hearted episode, with our crew getting up to shenanigans as they have to deal with some pesky mining guild members. Ezra doing another of his terrible impressions, this time a Trandoshan, when will he learn, he's a worse old ham than Daniel Day-Lewis! :D That Trandoshan foreman fighting Zeb is huge! Not many could suplex Zeb! This fight scene is a nod to Indiana Jones fighting the big guy from Raiders Of The Lost Ark. The stunt actor playing the big fella was called Pat Roach (and I knew of him well in another series back in the early 80's in the UK), and they called this Trando in honour of him, Proach! Kanan should have used the force to lift Zeb, easier than trying to lift all 30 stone of him manually! Mon Mothma mentions Protocol 13 that the Empire is now using, to extricate imperial personnel from worlds, when they are about to do something more sinister to said world. This is a reference to the first time we see Protocol 13 in Rogue One, when the Empire leaves Jedha, before the Death Star fires on the city killing Saw and his cell. Hera giving the rebel leaders a rousing speech, and she is rewarded in her actions by them finally committing to attacking Lothal directly. They couldn't do it before when Thrawn ambushed them, lets see how it goes next time. Hera also gets rewarded in another way, which we'll see in the next ep! The rebel alliance are still being reticent to take on the Empire head on. From Mon Mothma and the others at Yavin, you could see why; they don't have the numbers yet to do so. And when they did try something by trying this attack last season, Thrawn was onto them and almost decimated two rebel cells including Phoenix Cell. We see this later too in Rogue One, when Jyn Erso tries the same thing as Hera here in getting support to go to Scarif. She doesn't succeed as Hera does, but she does get Cassian and his crew of ne'er-do-well's on board, and they make the difference in inspiring the Rebellion to act and get the Death Star plans. We can see Ezra is out of practice climbing in ventilation shafts, he's not as young as he was! Ezra did a "Hello there!" - they gave him that honour, that only the best SW characters get!! Chopper needs to get one! :D

Always love Warwick Davis. He’s a cool dude. Great to see Rukh carry over. Zeb lugging the hyperdrive would likely result in a distinct aroma. Yeah, the reactions Jess had to Hera’s scenes were wonderful. I might be wrong, but I thought Hera had called Kanan by his real name once or twice, offscreen that is. Then again, given his reaction to hearing his name in this episode indicates that perhaps you’re right that this is the first time hearing his name in close to two decades.

Concerning Ezra’s ham, at least he’s not William Shatner level ham. I did not know that about Proach’s name, that’s a nice touch. Hera came through with that speech. The alliance’s reticence, frustrating though it is, does make sense considering how Thrawn nearly wiped everyone off the board. Ezra is a bit older now, making it more difficult crawling through the vents. Now he knows what a tv dinner feels like. Figured you’d like it when Ezra gets in the “Hello there”.

DieWinterkirsche

I completely forgot that Hera made the rebel attack happen... Oh, boy... I´m excited for next week!!! P.s. THEY FINALLY KISSED!! AHHH!!

Saltire le Hutt

Hera is the best. Best pilot in the galaxy along with perhaps Wedge. Legend. Haven't heard of this fold space ability before, but it certainly partially explains why no one has seen them in 100 years if they could just disappear and traverse half the planet almost instantly. I've seen the wolves do that hundreds of times at this point, but its always jaw-droppingly good. Filoni was able to bring his wolves in which he so adores and has sprinkled in all SW media he's been in charge pretty much now, but the ones here in Rebels are iconic. That Trando captain on the crawler actually looks like Peter Lorre now I come to think on it! You ever seen M with him Thomas? Great film. We had every right to be nervous of the coming attack when this aired, due to something thats mentioned in ANH; lets see how Jess handles it in the next episode!!!
