Ha! Well, I like Graham Crowden - Soldeed - or Mister Drama! One has to realize that, to humans, alien normative psychology could seem over the top! There could be a planet of Jim Carreys! Just as there could be a planet of Vulcans. As the Doctor himself will say, did say, "Why are humans so parochial?"

Watching this story with you is the most fun I have had with it. You highlighted how funny it is. Previously, I was too preoccupied with how drab the set design is and how I don't really care about the guest characters. Graham Crowden plays Soldeed and he later became a household name. He plays it for laughs and I don't mind that. I also think they use Romana well in this story, so I guess I always knew it had some positives.

Thank you for a wonderful reaction. I have to say I really enjoyed this story. At one point I wrote a document where I gave each available story in Classic Who a mark out of 10. I think I gave this one a 7.5. Not my favourite but far from the worst. I enjoyed the concept of the Nimon - obviously a not so subtle play on the Minotaur myth, but I loved how they were galactic parasites, sucking the life out of Planets before moving onto the next. I also thought the actor who played Soldeed killed it. At one point the actor was in the running to play The Doctor from what I understand. I think he would have been really good - so quirky! On a slight other note, I wasn't sure how you're placed with the next story, as it was never fully completed and never broadcast due to a huge strike by staff at the time that affected all the UK terrestrial channels. For that reason the parts which weren't filmed were animated for the DVD release, so its a bit of a mash up of film and cartoon. Your call of course but it does hold a very special place in my heart as I spent 5 very happy years living in the place it was filmed. See you next time!
