Samurai champloo please, might be the GOAT single season anime

Ooh, finally another classic anime, and this one's actually old enough that it feels right to call it a classic, then again Brotherhood did come out 16 years ago, I just don't like thinking of anything made in 21st century as classic, makes me feel old. I'm glad you didn't, or half didn't at least, fall into the trap of thinking that old animation can't be better than modern animation because of advancing technology or something equally as arbitrary. I don't know if it's just survivorship bias after all the bad or bland anime get forgotten over time, but I do like the older cel animation from around this time. Then again I did grow up watching shows like Pokemon, so there's a part of my brain that's hard wired to love the general anime art trends of the time. Not to say that the newer stuff is bad, especially when it comes to things like lighting, but I do have a soft spot for the older stuff. What you were saying about it not falling into the typical anime tropes, I think that might just be because of the kinds of shows you've been watching. I think you've mentioned it in the past with some other shows like Vinland Saga if i remember right? Other than that, you tend to watch a lot of modern, mainstream shounen shows, or random bottom of the barrel garbage, which are probably mostly inspired by other anime, so it makes sense that they'd have similar tropes and ideas. Cowboy Bebop wears its inspirations on its sleeve, a lot of which are western films (but not necessarily western as in cowboy, you know what I mean), so if you're looking for something different then it'd make sense that you'd like it, as well as it just being a great show of course. I hope you'll do more videos on older anime or anime from different genres, even if they're not considered classics like this. I like you mixing it up with some non-anime videos, and obviously we're getting more Avatar stuff now, but even when you are doing anime it's nice to see you mix it up, even (especially) if you end up watching something you hate. I'd offer you some suggestions, but it seems like you get tonnes of those all the time, but I do have some whenever you're looking for them. Oh, and never ever stop being overly pretentious about anime openings, it's half the reason these videos even exist in the first place.

Jimmith

oh if were doing classics then how about Berserk 1995!

Warren Patton

A review of Berserk could be interesting but I very much doubt that he'll like it.

Jimmith

also surprised you didn't make a Jet joke (Idea for part 2))

Momo Lilya

"The show is about the song" bro nailed it.

lunchbag9

i would give anything for a chainsaw man movie review. I was very worried about them adapting the rest of chainsaw man well since season 1 was basically only adapting setup for most of it but the reze movie is a genuine masterpiece

Desert Espada

Vouch on Samurai Champloo it’s one of my favourite shows of all time and if you enjoy this you’ll definitely enjoy that too Also don’t forget the bebop movie

ThePotaraKing

Idk fire force is the last thing you'd expect him to enjoy yet it got a positive review

Ubersupersloth

Wait, what’s the schedule now that we’re doing Avatar videos again? Is it every 10 days it’s an episode or is there going to be a big video covering all of season 2?

Randy D

Even if you don't do any content on it, Samurai Champloo is worth a watch. I put it up there with my few "I don't care if you like anime, this is just good media," picks.
