Chapter #16: An interesting proposal.

Cornelius Fudge wasn’t happy, he was having a good time with his side piece when Dumbledore insisted about seeing him, so, now he was being taken to Dumbledore’s office by none other than Kingsley Shacklebolt, his most likely successor considering what happened at the tri-wizard tournament, the death of Neville Longbottom is surely going to cause a fuss that will end with him being fired from the office if he's lucky.

Still, Dumbledore had just sent him an interesting message, knowing how paranoid he was about losing his job, it seems like Dumbledore has found a way for him to keep it, but someone else wants to speak with him alongside the old wizard.

“We’re here, minister,” Kingsley told him, and the fat wizard nodded.

Soon, he got inside, and there he was, the old headmaster, he had called him, and beside him there was a young man who surely reminded him of the deceased James Potter; they must be related in some way.

“Cornelius, I’m glad you've arrived, we were getting impatient,” Albus said with a calm tone. “Thank you, Kingsley,” Albus told the dark-skinned wizard, and he nodded.

“Spare me the bullshit, Albus. What’s the fuss all about?” Fudge wasn’t someone patient at this moment, it seems.

“Relax, my friend, first of all, I’d like you to meet someone, here’s my new protegee, and the one who will carry the fate of the wizarding world, and that includes my fate and yours too,” Albus said with a calm tone, but it sounded more like a warning.

Fudge looked at the young man, and he was having a hard time believing what he was hearing.

“This boy? Albus, we need to do something real, not plotting nonsense like this to put a replacement for Longbottom, after all, our heads are going to roll once the world knows about what truly happened during the first task,” Cornelius couldn’t help but sigh.

“Cornelius…Sit, trust me, the last thing we want is to keep you away from Dolores too long,” Harry spoke this time.

(A.N. In this story, Umbridge is a milf, but she won’t get with Harry, so, those who don't like my crazy ideas don't have to worry about it.)

The minister’s eyes widened, and he stared at the young man who looked indifferent despite saying words that carried a lot of weight.

“W-what are you implying, boy? Dolores is nothing but the undersecretary…” The fat wizard tried to justify himself, but Harry quickly raised his hand to stop him.

“Spare me your excuses, minister, I have my sources, and they told me you even gave her a place on her own with the money of our taxes, and if your wife gets to know about this…You’re going to lose everything, right? After all, you put the cheating clause to avoid giving your wife even a dime, you feared that your younger and prettier wife was going to cheat on you, and yet, you’re the one who’s going to get fucked if this gets known, right?” Harry’s tone was calculated and scary at the same time.

“What? I don’t—” The minister tried to keep his composure, but it was futile.

“I know everything about your magical marriage minister, you were so obsessed with protecting your assets that you ended up trapping yourself in your own game…It's amusing to be honest, however, we all make mistakes, there's no need for you to lose everything over a small mistake, Cornelius,” Albus told him as he caressed his beard.

The minister didn’t know how to feel about this situation; it seems like he had underestimated Dumbledore; he always saw him as nothing but a doormat, someone so naïve despite being so old, but now it seems like all of that was fake, and now he was paying the price for underestimating the ancient wizard.

“What do you need from me?” Asked the minister with an emotionless tone.

“Don’t worry, minister, we don’t ask much and in exchange, not only your secret is going to remain that, just a secret, you’re going to keep everything you own, and even better…You’re going to continue in the office…Under our guidance, of course,” Harry said with a devious smirk.

“First of all, there’s something we’d like to show you, Cornelius,” Dumbledore told him, and soon, he placed a small cradle on the desk.

Fudge looked at the thing, and then he felt disgusted at the sight. A strange, humanoid-looking creature with green skin was trying to annihilate him with its glare.

“What the…What is that, Albus?” The minister was shocked and disgusted at the same time.

“This...My friend…Is the one responsible for Neville Longbottom’s death, the one who has put you in this position. This is Lord Voldemort,” those words caused the minister to look at Albus with an unreadable expression.

“Lord Voldemort…No, it can’t be, he’s dead!” The minister said, and Harry rolled his eyes.

Then a liquid was sipped into the strange creature, and the silencing charm that was placed to stop him from constantly ranting was stripped off.

“What is your name?” Harry asked the thing.

“Tom Marvolo Riddle, also known as Lord Voldemort, the greatest dark wizard,” Voldemort tried to keep his pride even in this situation, but not even he could resist veritaserum.

“Did you die the night you attacked the Longbottoms eighteen years ago?” Asked Dumbledore with a calm tone.

“No, only my body was destroyed. I found a way to become immortal, but I needed a new body, and this is the only way I could have a body before I regained my own,” Voldemort confessed, and the minister couldn’t believe it.

“Smell this, minister,” Harry handed the minister the vial, and the man was shocked.

“Veritaserum…So, he’s telling the truth,” the minister couldn’t believe it. “So, he really didn’t die back then,” Fudge was about to collapse.

“Yes, but that’s going to end soon; however, we need your help to finally end him once and for all alongside his followers,” Dumbledore’s words made the minister gulp.

If the rumors are true, some of Voldemort’s supporters are also some of his closest friends, this wasn’t a good situation for him; he was put in power for a reason, and he just realized he had been played out.

“What…What do you need from me? I don’t think I can fight, I mean, look at me!” Fudge said with an awkward smile.

“First of all, I need the bounty for capturing Voldemort, after all, it was my plan that got him, second of all, we’re going to change this world, and you’re going to help us, we want to make the magical world better, aren’t you worried about your young son growing up in a world like this?” Asked Harry with a serious expression.

“I have a group of friends who can do the dirty work, Cornelius; you don’t have to worry about involving the ministry workers. My people are trustworthy, and they’re going to help us get rid of those who are plotting to start a war once again,” Dumbledore told him with a serious tone.

“We’re going to question Voldemort with veritaserum, and he’s going to tell us who his supporters are, we’re going to destroy them, either you’re on our side or not, and as you can see…If we succeed, you win more than you deserve, don’t you think?” Harry asked with a smirk.

It was either selling his friends or losing everything once his wife knew about his affair, or he could become their puppet minister; this was an easy choice, and even as he gritted his teeth, he shared a handshake with the other wizards, accepting his fate.
