Chapter #19: The end is near.

Whispers were heard in a bunch that they weren’t whispers anymore in the great hall. Harry didn’t say anything for a while; he wanted to see the students’ reactions, and then he decided to clarify his voice.

“So, now that we’re clear on my role in changing this society that has been stagnant for quite a while, it’s time to announce the first change. It's time to modify the education system, so, as you guys could tell, this very much concerns you,” Harry saw their worried expressions.

He didn’t like looking like a cheap supervillain but having the power to make people fear for their destiny was something interesting, to say the least. Maybe this is why Voldemort was so obsessed with Power, the thing could be addictive, that’s an undeniable fact.

“I’d like to announce the creation of the first two magical universities in the magical world,” Harry’s words made Hermione feel more in love than she had been with Harry.

Harry sent her a smile. He made this decision while thinking about her, muggleborn witches and wizards were looking happy, while the purebloods were confused.

“For those who don’t know what a university is…It’s a school that you attend after you finish your basic education, and in this case, your basic education is Hogwarts. After that, you can enter a university to specialize in something that might catch your interest,” Harry explained, and soon more people started to understand why Hermione was so happy.

Now was the time for the questions, and of course, the first one to raise her hand was Hermione.

“Which degrees will we be able to enroll in at the universities?” She asked with a hopeful tone.

“These are the first degrees: creation of magical artifacts, advanced potions, magical theory, the selection is not that big, but we’re working to develop more, and you can enroll at any age as long as you have your Hogwarts diploma,” Harry explained, and Hermione couldn’t help but think of the many things she wanted to do and learn on the university.

This was like Christmas for her, she had a lot of things on her wishlist and Harry was sure she was going to bombard him with many suggestions, and he was more than happy to listen, after all, the target audience for the universities are people like Hermione, those people obsessed with learning and being better, Harry wanted to award the effort and not the bloodlines like this world has been doing for centuries.

“Next week, the universities are going to start to get built, and ministry officials are going to explain everything to all of you guys. Now I’m going to retire with Professor Dumbledore, as we have many things to take care of, but I’ll leave you with the minister,” Harry said to the leader of magical Britain.

The minister concluded the session, and soon, he was surrounded by journalists. They had many questions about these changes. Fudge couldn’t help but feel like he had made the right choice, as now even students were praising him for his leadership skills. Potter was right; he was happy to be on the right side of history.

“You did well back there, Harry,” Dumbledore told him with a smirk.

“I needed to do my best, Professor. We have a world that needs change; we need to put lots of effort into making that a reality,” Harry told the aged headmaster.

“I agree, Harry, well, I guess it’s time for us to question our dear friend Tom,” Dumbledore suggested, and Harry nodded.

“Yes, let’s do that,” Harry led the way to the room of requirements.

That was the place where Voldemort was staying, and once they arrived, more veritaserum was poured into the dark wizard's mouth.

“You fuckers, I’m going to make all of you pay for what you’ve done to me, lord Voldemort, the greatest wizard who has ever lived!” The thing said before the potion started to take effect. “No, that’s a lie, Dumbledore is the greatest wizard to have ever lived,” the veritaserum made Voldemort honest for once, and Harry and Dumbledore couldn’t help but smirk.

It seems like deep inside, the dark wizard still admired the old headmaster; no matter how much he tried to paint himself as superior, he always knew he was in the shadow of the aged wizard.

“Well, I guess it’s time to find out how our friend here survived death,” Harry suggested, and Dumbledore nodded.

“How did you become immortal, Tom?” Asked Dumbledore with a cold tone.

Voldemort didn’t want to talk, but eventually, the potion made him talk.

“Horcruxes…I made six, my diary hidden by Lucius Malfoy, Helga Hufflepuff’s cup hidden in the Bellatrix’s Lestrange vault, a ring I hid in Gaunt shack, Nagini was one too but she’s now dead, Salazar Slytherin locket, hidden by Regulus Black’s elf, Kreacher, and Rowena Ravenclaw’s diadem and that thing is hidden here in this room,” Voldemort said with a tired tone.

However, something popped out in the room out of nowhere; it was an old elf Harry had met last summer when his godfather’s belongings were given to him.

“Oh, hey, Kreacher,” Harry said with a neutral tone.

He knew the elf hated him, but he was so pathetic that he didn’t even deserve Harry’s attention; at most, he was indifferent towards the creature.

“Has master called Kreacher?” The elf said in a tired and bitter tone.

“No…Wait, do you know about a locket that belonged to Voldemort?” Asked Harry with a hopeful tone.

The elf didn’t want to say anything, and Harry didn’t like the fact that he wasn’t cooperating.

“Kreacher, tell me what you know about that locket, and that’s an order!” Harry demanded the elf.

The creature wanted to endure as much as he could, but it was useless in the end. Not only did he tell them everything he knew about the thing, but he also took the locket out of his clothes and gave it to them.

“What the…You vile, filthy creature, why do you have my locket?!” Asked the homunculus what looked like Voldemort.

“Master Regulus wasn't the idiot you thought he was...You killed master Regulus, but in the end, it seems like he’s going to succeed in his plan to destroy you…But for that, you need to destroy all his items,” Kreacher told Harry and Dumbledore, who nodded at the elf.

“Well, Kreacher seems to know a trick or two about horcruxes, don’t you think, Harry?” Asked Dumbledore, and Harry sighed, never in his life did he think he would be happy to have Kreacher in his life.

“Thank you for your help, Kreacher. You can leave the locket here, I want you to leave,” Harry told his unwanted elf.

“Master Potter…Please, I want to stay and watch you destroy the thing, you’re destroying it, right?” Kreacher surprised Harry.

Maybe doing this will give him some sympathy points from his elf, so he nodded.

“Before that, we need to know how to destroy these things, Tom,” Dumbledore told the dark wizard.

“Fiendfyre…The killing curse or a basilisk venom-infused weapon, I suggest a goblin sword,” those words gave Dumbledore one idea.

He called for an elf, and a few moments later, the elf came back with the sorting hat and a sword; the elf also brought a vial.

“Luckily, Severus had basilisk venom; one drop is more than enough, right?” Dumbledore’s words made Voldemort shiver.

His end was near, and there was nothing he could do.
