Chapter #20: A new world.

“No…Please no!” Voldemort begged.

It’s been a week since the conference, and they’ve already found and destroyed all the horcruxes, right now, they were in the department of mysteries, to be more precise, they were in the death room, they were standing close to a location they know as "the veil".

Harry, Dumbledore, and the rest of the order were present alongside a bunch of journalists from all the newspapers of the country. This was something everyone needed to see and read, so this was a good opportunity for Harry to get popular amongst the public.

“Ladies and gentlemen, I thank you for being here, as you know, we have Lord Voldemort here, and today we’re finally getting rid of him once and for all,” Harry said with a calm expression.

People started to whisper to each other, to think that the darkest wizard in centuries was about to be destroyed was something comforting and shocking at the same time. For a long time, people believed Voldemort was some kind of demon or deity that came to punish them; he seemed too powerful for anyone to think something like this would happen.

And yet, here he was in the cradle, and he was desperate to free himself; however, it was too late already. Harry and Dumbledore have made a decision: if they want this world to change, someone like Voldemort has no place in it.

“Well, I guess we shouldn’t waste time. I’m not happy to take a life,” Harry pretended to be sad. “However, there are some sacrifices that need to be made to create a new world in which magical people finally reach their potential without being held back by the ideas that have stagnated our society,” Harry took a pause.

He nodded at Dumbledore, and soon he was ready to push the cradle into the veil.

“Killing is an act against nature, but I surely hope nature can forgive me, considering I’m getting rid of someone who tried to break nature countless times…Goodbye, Tom!” Harry finally pushed the thing into the veil.

There was a scream that was heard, but it soon died out. Dumbledore suddenly received a patronus with a message, and so, it was time to tell the world about the prophecy.

“He’s gone…The prophecy made about the one who was supposed to destroy the dark lord has finally been fulfilled,” Dumbledore declared.

Soon, he started answering questions about the prophecy. Meanwhile, Harry was already thinking about the next changes he was planning for this world. After this event, Harry retired alongside Dumbledore and the minister.

“So…What do we do now?” Asked the minister, feeling a bit conflicted.

On one hand, his participation in this show has made him quite popular amongst the younger generation of wizards and witches, a sector that had no interest in him before and after he took the job.

“The first thing we need to do is invest in magical technology…I want to create a magical version of what muggles have…Television, the internet, videogames, phones…The world is our oyster now,” Harry celebrated.

“But…We can get in trouble with the ICW,” Cornelius felt worried.

“Relax, that’s why we have the supreme mugwump on our side…We just have to present our logical reasons why this is a good idea. I’m sure the members of the ICW will see the vision in our ideas,” Harry was afraid he was looking too hopeful.

But the faster this world moved from the Victorian era and embraced the present and future, the better for him. Dumbledore and Fudge looked at him with concerned expressions; however, knowing that he had made a magical vow swearing not to become evil, and he was still alive, it meant that Harry hadn’t become evil yet.

“I should better retire, gentlemen, there are some important matters I need to take care of, but…You should be ready, Professor Dumbledore. We need to present our ideas to the ICW. It should be a good idea to speak with them directly,” Harry was more like ordering.

However, Dumbledore remained impassive, but in the end, the old wizard nodded, and Harry felt completely satisfied, it was time for him to see a certain blonde witch. Dumbledore and the minister had some important things to talk about, so they were glad to have a successful meeting with Potter because they were still a bit wary of him.

“Albus…What’s going on? The threat is gone, why are you still taking him seriously?!” Cornelius complained.

“I made a magical vow…I swore to help him rebuild this world, trust me, I wish I could sacrifice myself to not give him power so we can avoid a revolution; however, I’m the only one who can control him and I also know deeply that he’s not evil he’s just a non-conformist,” Dumbledore tried to find a logical explanation to Harry’s attitude.

The minister could only scowl. Dumbledore wanted to believe that the minister was worried about the commonfolk, but he knew he couldn’t be more wrong; Cornelius doesn’t care about what happens to normal citizens. He used to only care about his Wizengamot friends, but now most of them have been arrested.

“You better have him under control, Dumbledore…We cannot allow ourselves to have someone so young and reckless take control over our world to satisfy their desires,” the minister was worried.

Dumbledore wanted to agree with this poor excuse of a politician to keep up appearances; however, the fact that the minister thought he had a moral ground to speak about power was something that made the old wizard feel sick.

“Just focus on your job, Cornelius. Leave the rest to those of us who want to make a change,” Dumbledore’s tone was gentle.

But the minister was able to catch the double meaning behind those fancy words; it was for him to mind his own fucking business; he’s nothing but a puppet controlled by him and Potter.

“Don’t worry, Cornelius, as long as you act as you’re being told…You and your family not only will live long but also will benefit from all this, trust me, I was a bit skeptical at first, but…I can see the vision in Harry’s ideas,” Dumbledore couldn’t help but sigh. “Come on, Cornelius, don’t you feel a bit jealous when you go to the Muggle world and see them with their devices?” Dumbledore questioned the fat wizard.

The minister wanted to snap at the old wizard for even thinking that a pureblood wizard like him would feel jealous of Muggles, but he couldn’t help but think about their cars.

“Merlin…Their cars…I love them, they have so many designs…” The minister couldn’t help but sigh.

“If Harry’s plans go the way we expect…You’re going to see many cars in our world, my friend; the change is unavoidable,” Dumbledore told him with a grin.

The minister couldn’t help but sigh, that’s the worst part of getting old, the fear to change, to think that a young man who had been a total nobdy a few weeks ago was on his way to break everything they know about their world was something crazy.

Meanwhile, the young man was currently kissing a blonde woman in a private room in the Three Broomsticks; it was a shame she couldn’t attend Voldemort’s execution, but the space was too small to invite his friends and lovers.

“Ah…Fuck Harry!” The French witch said with her characteristic accent as he kissed her neck.

Harry couldn’t help but smirk; he always thought that veelas were into dominating their men, but Fleur liked to be pleased, not that he had complaints, though.
