Chapter #2: Susan Malfoy nee Bones.

Susan never thought she would fall in love and marry a Malfoy but the most surprising thing is that she married the Malfoy patriarch, the redhead was deeply depressed after the war, yes, the threat was gone and her aunt’s killers had died but still, that didn’t ease her inner pain, event to this day she still misses her family every day, she’s the remaining member of the Bones family.

She lost her parents during the first war, then her aunt died before her sixth year; she felt hopeless back then. Once the war was over, she tried to focus on her healer career because her last school year had been insane with the Death Eaters taking over Hogwarts; in a nutshell, her last year was a mess.

Her aunt always told her about her graduation and Susan wanted to experience something like that, sadly, there was nothing to celebrate, the war was over but people were mourning, she lost friends, and she saw many people die that she had once seen so livid and happy on the hallways, not only their last year had been hell to make things worse, many of them died.

Susan felt hopeless and then, after the trials, one of the least people she wanted to see appeared in St. Mungo’s, where she was doing her internship, a broke man with his family, a mess just like her, but contrary to her, he put himself in that position; it was Lucius Malfoy, one of the least persons she wanted to see.

It was true that he was in Azkaban when her aunt was killed by his lord, but that still doesn’t change the fact that he was one of his most faithful supporters; however, this wasn’t the same arrogant man she had met once or twice when she visited her aunt at the ministry.

Not only did he had to pay a huge amount of money for reparations but his wife decided to divorce him and no one could blame her for that decision, so, she took almost everything he owned, he was the one who decided to put his family in danger losing that much was nothing compared to the pain he made his son and wife go through, it was already time for him to pay for his actions, so, in short, the man was on the verge of bankruptcy.

Still, even if she despised him, Susan was bound to the vow all healers make, to cure and help people regardless of who they are, and so, after the first visit with his son, he visited the hospital by himself to treat his injuries caused by the constant use of the cruciatus curse. Susan acted coldly but professionally towards the patient.

However, despite his condition, the man tried to warm her heart, and every time she tried to ignore him, he would always apologize for everything he did; he wasn’t aware if his actions directly hurt her, but with time, Susan couldn't deny something; the man wanted to change.

He was persistent that’s something she found interesting, he visited the hospital the same day every week, she would keep her role as his healer and he would try to joke with her or start a conversation, she remained the same cold professional person but slowly, she started to warm up to him, she wanted to move on, and also, she wanted to be the better person, so, considering she wasn’t expecting to see him again after his treatment was over, she decided to forgive him.

However, as the end of his treatment was getting near, she had gotten used to him, she smiled and chatted with the older wizard and at some point she even started to long for the day of the week where he would come and they would chat, and then the day she wanted at first to arrive finally arrived but at this point she wasn’t sure if she wanted to say goodbye, but there was nothing she could do, his treatment was over.

Just when she thought she couldn’t get more surprised, he made a bold declaration. He asked her out now that he wasn’t her patient anymore, she liked him now as a person, and she couldn't deny that, even though he was almost thirty years older than her; she found him attractive.

She ended up accepting, the dates were nothing out of the ordinary because Lucius wasn’t the same rich snob who could afford expensive dates. Surprisingly, he took her to the Muggle world to eat there. It was a refreshing experience, and soon a date from time to time turned into once every week, and then it led to them living together.

She was worried about the Draco, and even though she still hadn’t forgiven him for making fun of her aunt’s death back at school, the last thing she wanted was to make Lucius' life difficult. The man was focused on getting back on his feet, so stressing him out about his family wasn’t something she wanted.

Surprisingly, the younger blonde approved their relationship; in fact, he convinced his mother to let his father have Malfoy Manor. Around that time, the younger blonde started making some investments with his father’s help.

Slowly but surely, Lucius became wealthy again, not the same filthy reach as before, as Voldemort's movement drained much of his wealth, but this was enough for him, Susan, and their future children to have a comfortable life. Despite what many people think, Susan is not a gold digger.

In fact, she met Lucius at his worst. At some point, she supported the two of them with her job, as Lucius barely had any money most of the time, but once the wealth was back, he finally asked her to marry him. She happily accepted, and one month ago, she finally felt like she could have a peaceful life.

She wasn’t alone anymore, she was married to a changed man, his son approved of her and they were now trying for a baby but it has been difficult, that’s why one day she went to get potion ingredients that would help her with that but then, as they were leaving the place, her bodyguard was killed but she knew that the attack was aimed towards her.

The next few days, she was a mess, the PTSD was back, she felt as if she had been thrown back to wartime, she was scared and paranoid, and was mostly secluded in her room, but one day, Lucius took her hand and led her outside.

“No Lucius…It’s dangerous…” She tried to stop him; she wanted to get back to the safety her room provided.

“While I love the fact that I’m the only man allowed to see you, I think you’re too young to become a recluse, dear,” the older wizard said. “That’s why I want you to meet someone,” Lucius said as they saw Draco.

“He’s here already, Father, Susy,” Draco said with a serious expression.

It was strange at first, but she got used to Draco calling her that. She was worried he could be hiding something, but then she realized he wasn't the same immature boy from the school.

“I don’t think—” she was about to say, but then her eyes widened.

She couldn’t believe what she was seeing, it was the most handsome man she has ever seen, his muscles and his emerald eyes were enticing, she didn’t know what she was feeling but soon, she started to feel guilty about her feelings, however, she was sure her husband finds other women attractive too, there was no danger in finding this man attractive, right?

“This is Harry Potter…Your new bodyguard,” Lucius declared as if it were the most normal thing in the world.

Susan remained silent; this was the last thing she expected to happen today.
